Challenging & Picturesque
I have been playing this course for over 45 years and I have yet to conquer it or tire of it. It’s a great test of golf with no quirky holes but it remains tough and fair. It’s an easy walking course with subtle rolling terrain with a creek which meanders throughout the course and comes into play on half the holes. The course is always well-maintained & is very picturesque and the only slight drawback is the average conditions of the bunkers which could use a bit more sand in some bunkers. Over the years though, this course has gotten better with age. Golf fees are comparable with other top courses in the region. The clubhouse facilities are dated but well maintained and the staff & golfing professionals are very friendly and accomodating. To round out your golf experience, Butler’s Grill has top-quality, restaurant-like cuisine and a great golf & dine special every day. A day spent at Royal Ashburn is an enjoyable experience
Fall Play
The course is always in good shape even after the aeration.
Could be much cheaper at that time of the year though.
The day was good and happy there wasn’t much of wind but th brain came and washed us out and we had to stop.
Nice course, better during summer months
Other than the starter putting someone that was late into our teeoff time
(making us late) , and then telling us what tee blocks we should play, the course is certainly worth playing. The fairways, greens, rough and bunkers were all in excellent condition for late Oct. The staff were busy trying to remove the downed leaves to keep it clean.
Best course played in Ontario thus far, reminded me of Carolina golf. Give it a shot, you won't regret it. Lush fairways, perfect greens, 1st cut playable and clean. Just a beauty of a golf course!!!
Royal Ashburn
Great Club Houes, good food, good service
good course, very well maintained
Course Outlay
Well laid out - great conditions - greens were excellent and very large - quick but fair
seamless check in with cart offered to us as soon as we pulled in.
Tournament fun
We played a charity scramble on this course. It was a great design and well kept. The staff, food, and club house were all adequate and I would come back and play when in the area.
Did I mention we won the tournament:)
Great Course
I was spoken to by one of the Marshall's in the Pro Shop and he told me this is the best course available to the public in the country. I can honestly say I don't disagree. The layout is amazing, conditions and greens played very well and the course requires good course management skills.
A great parkland layout
The course is always in top shape, no weeds anywhere and they keep the tree lined rough clear so you can usually find your balls on errant drives. It represents a great challenge for immediate and advanced golfers as you can not come up short on most holes due to water or bunkers. The White tees are very fair at 6,100 yards and plays much harder than the 69/123 rating. For advanced golfers the 7,000+ yards from the tips is an extreme test, and with the large and undulating greens, some pin placements will provide you with as great a test of your approach game as you will find anywhere.
Once you are done your round you must stop in the restaurant as the food is as good as it gets at a golf course.
