Great, fun course
Friendly stall with great practice facilities and fun course in great shape.
Consistent Quality Course
I play this course about 8-10 times per year including tournament play - I'm a 15 handicap. The course is always well maintained and offers a hole-by-hole, but fair challenge. Staff are pleasant. Marshalls do a good job of 'a 'friendly drive-by', just to make sure people are keeping pace, as it tends to be a popular, therefore busy course. There is no return to the clubhouse after 9 but typically a beverage cart makes regular rounds and there are 4 or 5 go-huts along the course. One of my favourite public courses in the Ottawa area.
Worth the money
Paid the afternoon rate and felt it was good value. Course was in great shape, however, it was super busy so pace of play was a bit slow for my taste but not unbearable. Staff were helpful and pleasant. Would recommend to others and would play again.
Course double booked
Golf now or the course double booked our tee time and we were asked to play the east course. The pace of play was incredibly slow because everyone was backed up behind a tournament. The course should not advertise available tee times when there is a tournament booked. Unfortunate because the course was in good shape.
Great conditions; very friendly staff; a few quirky holes
My wife and I booked this course through Golf Now. The course is a bit out of the way from downtown Ottawa (about 30-45 minutes depending on the traffic). We were able to get out about 45 mins earlier thanks to the starter. The course was in fantastic shape...greens were best I've played...lush, receptive and rolling true. However, playing this course for the first time was tricky....3 or four "quirky holes" lots of 90 degree doglegs. My golf buddy GPS was off by 10-15 yards which resulted in a lot of mis-clubbing (mostly over clubbing). other than that no complaints...shot 83 from Orange but should have been around 76...4 three putts hurt. A few greens have some really tough undulation. I'm sure after playing here again I could shave 6-5 strokes off easily. Not a very long course...only hit driver 5 times.
Lots of potential
Good/ great course. Great layout, fairways are mint. Greens are very inconsistent, appears that some are rolled and others aren't. Rough has some patches which provided horrible lies. Overall I was impressed upon arrival when looking at the clubhouse and practice area. Then quickly became frustrated by the 4th green. I would recommend this course but I won't go back til next year. Hopefully it will be in better shape.
Beautiful course
Great course. Challenging!
A great experience
Enjoyed this course. It has an interesting layout, is challenging, and was in relatively good condition.
Pace of play
The club has lots of tournaments. This changes the course layout, affects the pace of play to a point that it is ridiculous to book a teetime. 7 hours for a round of golf is unacceptable. Canadian should book the teetimes according to the tournament they hold. Stop bringing in more players than the course can process..
OK for nine
Course is in pretty good shape for a public 9. Greens are good and the fairways are OK. Some holes have an odd layout. A good long par 4 and a short par 5.
Overall a good walk in a couple of hours.
great course
The layout and condition were excellent. My two negative comments are:
Slow play - 5 hours + However we were following a tournament so this was not unreasonable.
Tees - they have white and orange (like blues). As a high eighties/low nineties I found the difference too great. On many holes the whites wee too easyand the orange too difficult.
Nice layout with a challenge
Nice combination of short and long holes. Have to be smart with your club choice. Great shape considering how dry It's been this year. Staff very friendly and no shortage of seeing the canteen cart on the course. Great job ladies.
Expected more
I had heard ok things about the course. Staff were excellent. One of the holes on the west was being redone, so we ended up playing 2 holes from the east course. I. Felt like a couple holes were very nicely manicured and didn't match the level of maintanince that some of the rest of the hole received.
Great Value for Round
The Canadian is a pretty nice course to play. Hole length varies nicely. I think one of the best features of this course are the carts themselves. They have GPS and a nice screen that lets you know the distances at the point of a finger. You can also order food if you want.
Canadian Golf Club
Had a great time and would book again.
Spring conditions
Greens where in pretty good conditions for that time of the season.
The only real negative comment would about the fact that holes 17 & 18 of the West Course where replaced by holes 8 & 9 of the East course... because of reconstruction of the last 100 yards & green of the 17th hole... I did not find any warning on the Club website and neither at the Proshop about the situation.
Beautiful day for golf!
The ppl we wete paired up with made the pace of play slow, there no washrooms on the course for the ladies, the signs to play last 2 holes of the 18 were nso confusing we didn't finish our round.
My other experinces at this course were much better.
Good weather and good condition
Like this course, and great deal and weather. The condition is good too
Outstanding
The course greens were fantastic! Simply lime green. I have played this course many times and this is the best shape I have ever seen it. Very nice.
Rain check
Le terrain devrait pouvoir nous donner un rain check, lorsque nous arrivons a la club house s'il commence a pleuvoir avant notre tee-off.
