Nice manicured course
I played with my friend and we were paired up with another couple. Lucky for us , they were nice. The course is short but fun and has some very nice greens and fairways. You have a lot of hazards to keep you on your toes. The service was professional but not snotty at all. I would go there again even though it was very busy when I was there . You could see tons of cars in the parking lot ....this is a busy place for sure
Nice Layout
The course was in great condition. Fairways and greens were in great conditions for the time of the year. Staff was good and their golf carts are excellent, with Gps, ball and club washer on the carts etc.
Very Poor service
They scheduled 4 of us after a shot gun start of 130 people, round lasted over 6 hours. we had to sit on Tee's and wait as no one was speeding up.
We complained but were told that e booked from golf now so they won't do nothing for us. No matter where we booked I paid money to play so what difference does it make?
I offered to come back if they give me rain check but was told again go speak to Golfnow.
The course is in great condition
Overall a great experience and great facilities. World class.
Expensive for the quality of the course
Pros - 18 west course has a great par three starting hole to get the jitters out. Nice practice ranges as well. The Marshall was also very friendly. I didn't go inside so I can't review the clubhouse and restaurant. Carts were nice with gps on board where you can keep track of your score however our cart would not alow us to track the back nine holes for some reason.
Cons - I wa unhappy with the layout of the course. Too many sharp dog legs. One par 4 hole is 166 yrds from the white if you knock it over the trees. It just seemed to be one blind do leg after another. There didn't seem to be much pride in work when it came to course conditions. Rough was cut in some spots but not in others and you could see on the greens where the lines where cut but the guy didn't go around and get all the perimeter. Just a very quick and sloppy job.
Overall not a bad course for the price ,however I had gotten a good deal from golf now. I wouldn't recommend paying over 30 with a cart for this course. Glen mar it's neighbouring course is cheaper and kept in better shape
Slow but worth it for the range
Playing as a twosome on a Friday night pretty much guaranteed a slow pace - but when we saw a fivesome a few holes ahead of us at the 13th we bailed.
Have to say the practice facility and staff friendliness are far superior to most courses - will go there just to practice from now on.
very good golf club
My wife and I usually lije to play at this club which has pretty good courses and staffers. Highly rrcommended!
Slower than molasses rate of play
I played there 10 years ago and played a 5 hour round during the week. We were 3 foursomes on the tee and asked when was there tee time, 5 minutes before me, overbooking!!! I vowed never to play there again. They were 20 minute late for my tee off to start with!! Well here I am playing again with worst results after 5 hours to play after 14 holes I had to quit because I had a wedding to go to to. They are still overbooking and the Marshall did not do his job! At several points we were 4 foursomes on one hole!!Many people on the front nine drove by to get a replay/refund. One positive thing though I have to commend Antony for his professionalism, he apologized profusely and gave me a refund for my round, no questions asked. Very apologetic.
Problem with fes
I booked on Golf now but wasn't given the good rate that everyone was getting. I mentioned this to the pro shop staff and they immediately lowered the fees from $63 to $47. Golf now should have known about their Tuesday specials...but the course was great!
Great value for well maintained course
3rd time playing this course, West 18. There is also a full length 9-hole course, East 9. Never played the East course.
Practice facilities are top notch, best of any Ottawa area courses. Beautiful range with grass deck, lots of flags to aim at. There is also a practice hole (short par 3) pass the starter booth but before the first tee.
Fairways were nice, greens were okay. Nice layout, water hazards come into play on many holes.
We had a 3pm weekday tee time, foursome, pace of play was somewhat slow.
If you can snag a good deal with a cart on Golf Now it's definitely worth playing.
The Canadian W18 on July 14th
This is my favourite course to play although I don't get to play it very often (once per year perhaps). Although quite a long course, the short game is critical due to the narrowness of some approaches and the proximity of hazards (water, bunkers etc.).
And, the gardens are beautiful!
Great staff and great greens
Staff greated us in an friendly inviting manner and that was at 6:15am.
Course was great and pin positions were fun and challenging.
We will be back!
Great day out on the course
The weather was perfect and so were the conditions at the Canadian. There were two greens that were a little worse for wear but the rest of the course is in the best condition that i have seen in quite a few years.
Excellent Course with Friendly Staff
Course is in excellent shape and we found the staff to be very friendly. There had been a large storm the night before, so it was cart path only. The course has both water and sand on some holes. Pace of play was very fast and we were done 18 holes in 3 1/2 hours.
cart path only
It had rained the night before and it was a little wet in places but hardly a need to restrict cart on the fairways
Good Coarse; Excellant Staff
Coarse was in very good condition. 1 or 2 green were irrigated and condition was poor. Coarse was a little soggy but that was do to 2 days of rain.
