In my view one of the best values in the area. Demands good shot placement and constant attention - length is an advantage, but accuracy is key. Friendly staff and good amenities.
This is an old style course that has a lot of variety. There are short par threes, long par threes, doglegs left, doglegs right, and straight holes. I have played this course many times and to me this course offers enough variety that I never get tired of playing it. The management that is currently in place has done a lot to improve the quality of the course. If you have not played here it the last few years it is definately worth a try.
Canadian Air Force Course Lacks a Lot of TLC
There is a lot of potential for this very nice layout golf course with many large trees lining up the fairways. Many areas lack proper coverage of grass when golf ball is well within the fairway. Many stones noticed in bunkers. Most signs indicating yardage well nearly completely discoloured which is clearly a sign of neglect. More investments badly needed before considering a return to this course.
Great Course
To me any golf course starts with the staff and Kim and Lisa are great in terms of friendliness and booking our tee times.
All of south eastern Ontario witnessed a very dry summer but the grounds crew at Roundel managed to keep the course in good shape.
Looking forward to playing again with my Mugboy foursome.
ROUGH RIDE
Would have been a more pleasant experience walking. But I physically require a cart. The carts were
old and rough riding, chuggy, with taped seats. On top of that the "cart paths" were rough and not maintained
a very bumpy ride. The course condition was not up to historical standards---some of this understandable with lack of rain.
Thank you for your feedback. We assure you this is not the standard we strive to achieve. We are constantly working on course conditions and look forward to having you back soon to make up for this experience.
disappointed
showed up at the course and was told only then there was a small golf tourny on the owner was putting on with his friends.as our round went on it got slower and slower and slower the guys in the tourny were taking way to much time like they owned the course guess they must have got that idea because they were playing with him.went to the club house and got nothing but excuses .o there really good golfers and take there time .i would thing good golfers would know pace of play was part of golf eticate but doesnt matter i guess if u play with the owner may money and time was not as important as him and his friends.in short i will never be back.
Thank you for your feedback. We assure you this is not the standard we strive to achieve. We look forward to having you back soon to make up for this poor experience.
Challenging course with Variety
Course is somewhat worn out but course layout offers variety of holes and a challenge .Pace of play slow on a crowded day-no marshalls to speed up tardy golfers. Fun however . Fairways not consistent;lot's of crabgrass. .Greens good as are the traps. Value okay but many areas of neglect. Cart paths full of holes making for a bumby ride.Trying not to be too critical as the layout and scenery makes up for the deficiencies. Will try again on a quieter day.Signs directing to the course were helpful.A difficult course to find as on an airbase.
Thank you for your feedback. We are constantly working on course conditions and look forward to having you back soon.
Nice Course, Nice People
Pleasant staff. I got paired up with couple of members, and they couldn't have been nicer.
Apparently, the back nine gets closed periodically because of the Military base operations, so you might want to call ahead to see if this is an issue on a given day.
Good layout with lots of mature trees. No "dumb" holes on the course. If you like airplanes, it's fun to watch the aircraft coming and going during the round.
Note: don't trust GPS going there, as the maps are a bit out of date. You have to enter the base gate from RCAF Rd to get to the course. This feels wrong, but it is right.
Nedds water like everywhere in belleville at least there trying
Old type course layout with dog legs nice greens dry summer has hurt fairways right on the base is neat had a big drive down the runway
Roundel Glen
Friendly staff. Course was in good shape given our lack of rain. Pace could be a little faster. Will play again. Course is flat but has interesting doglwgs.
Great Course
Great golf course, lots of doglegs, you need to be able to curve the ball or hit it pretty straight. Fairways were a little sparse last season, this was do to a water shortage, which was more to do with The Airforce Base policies than the lack of rain or the effort put in by the ground maintenance staff ( Who I know put in long hours trying to keep the course alive). The course staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. I do think the golf carts need to be replaced. Overall though I love this course, it’s tough but fair.
Was Hoping For More
This course is located on Trenton's Canadian Forces base. Getting to it without the use of a GPS is difficult due to several turns on the base that are poorly marked. The course itself is very flat and the hole designs are uninspiring. If you are looking for a reasonable price weekly game then this will do. However, if you are looking to play a course that will be memorable, choose another course.
Watch out for bombs!
On occasions, the military have military needs. The exact cause is not known, but it results in the closing of the back nine. It is one of the problems with the course because it results in everyone using the front nine.
Thank you for your review. We have a storage building on the the back 9 where goods are delivered certain mornings and usually the schedule is so that it does not interfere with a round of golf. However, from time to time, issues come up that prolong the delivery, and we apologize that this impacted your round. We do hope to see you for another tee time soon!
Interesting Location
This course is located on an active Military base and Planes are Landing and Taking off frequently.
This adds interest to the course. The Fairways and Greens are in good shape. Some interesting doglegs .
Overall a nice course. Weather permitting I will try to play again this year.
Thank you for your great review! We are so happy to hear you enjoyed your overall experience at Roundel Glen and hope you make it back for another round this year!
Course is going downhill
Played course in June of this year and it was in good condition. Quite surprised to see the conditions of the tee blocks and cart paths now. It appears that the tee blocks have not been moved for a considerable length of time and there were massive potholes along the cart path. Very surprised to see this neglect.
Shop staff and facilities were good, as usual. Good deal but add a couple bucks to fix the cart paths.
Thank you for your review. We were undergoing some minor routine maintenance around the time of your visit. We hope to see you back for another round soon!
Nice Course
Awesome staff and a very relaxing atmospere. Golfers were eager to let us thru as we played in a twosome.
Thank you for your review! We hope to see you back for another tee time soon!
newly rentavated holes
After not playing this course for a couple of years I was really pleased with the changes that have been made.
Thank you for your great review! We have been working diligently to ensure the best course conditions possible and are so happy to hear your feedback on the improvement! We look forward to seeing you back for another round soon!
Golfing with friends!
It was a great day of golf, even though there was a tournament just ahead of us, the pace was great!
Thank you for your review! We are so glad you had a great time here and look forward to your next round!
Long and forgiving
One of the local courses I've never played - glad I finally did! Those course is a lot of fun! Some real long holes that challenge even long ball hitters. The course is forgiving with some wide fairways and playable rough!
Thank you so much for your great review! We are so glad you made it out to try the course and we hope you come again for another round soon!
big difference in difficulty between bllues and whites.
The layout is excellent has gogleg left and rights as well as straight away holes. Working the ball is a necessity. Greens are good.
Thank you for your feedback. We are always looking to improve course conditions and take your comments very seriously. Look forward to having you back soon and making up for this experience.
