The pace of play
The pace of play was not impressive at all. 4 of us were paired together the other 2 had to leave the course on the 15th hole. The 2 players in our front despite the fact that they were walking refused us to play through we were riding the cart. Holes 17 and 18 were in very bad shapes.
I will play the course again if the condition improves. It is a tough and challenging course.
Greens need work. Lots of blind shots so a yardage book would be a great option at this course. For the price an excellent deal
Awesome challenge
Great links course...designed by the guy that has redone a lot of the courses for the British Open. Challenging without being frustrating. Everything was in great shape. If it was closer to Toronto it would be 3x the price
Great links
One of my favourite courses in Southwestern Ontario. Bring your A game. You need to think your way around this track. 16, 17 & 18 can make a great round ordinary.
Lovely course but......
I love the course. So well designed. One negative unfortunately. If a person needs to take a cart it is a very rough ride. Please get the cart paths somewhere close to smooth. Currently it is by far the most negative part of the experience
Nice links style course.
Enjoyed the course and the real links style. Felt like I was in Scotland
Excellent link's course!
I have only played courses in Scotland once but this reminds me of them! A great
Course! I will be back.
Great course
Always challenging and in good shape. Greens could be better but still good. Only thing is with 9/10 turn you don't go by the clubhouse and the halfway hut wasn't open . Long , and thirsty day to say the least. Then after , more than half the menu was unavailable. No deep fryer, no pizza, no nachos. Beer was cold but pricey.
Best value and fun
It is the best place to be in any condition of the season except windy day.
After this you know you need more practice in sand......
I recommend this course to any of my friends or anyone.
You don't have to go to Scotland to play fancy course..... It's here waiting for ya.

Perfect
Weather was perfect, course conditions were perfect. Hands down the best public play golf course in SW Ontario.
Great value on traditional Links course
Authentic Scottish links feel and layout in rural Ontario farmland. For the most part this is a great track. Bunkers are British style and fescue and high winds make it an authentic feel. Hard ground makes the bump and run very doable on many holes and the 150 black and white striped poles add to the experience. Tees could use aeration and cart paths can be dusty, electric carts would be nice but all in all great value.
Good test of your abilities
Started the round with a 2+ club wind which makes this course even more challenging. The fairways and greens were in good shape and the fescue was at a reasonable height and thickness which made finding your ball easy but still a challenge to get out. The greens did have many My only complaint was the bunkers, they were raked but some were lacking some sand so it made difficult to play them as a normal sand trap.
Good Track / Needs Some Work
I usually venture out to Tarandowah around the time the Open Championship is being played. I've played in Scotland and it's the closest thing I've played to true links golf at home. Before I get into what was wrong I need to say that the fairways, tees and greens were in great shape. No issue there. I always enjoy playing here but last Sunday I really noticed some things that need work.
First, the bunkers need some attention. The grass that grows along the top edge has been left unattended and needs to be trimmed back. It's now growing down into the sand itself and that's not the way it was intended.
Second, At the base of most of the bunkers the landscaping fabric used to cover the ground before the sand is added is visible in a lot of places and affects your shot. Also, I'm not sure who's idea it was to put tubes in the ground at each bunker so that the handle of the rake can be placed inside to stand on its end. This looks absolutely terrible and is not in keeping with the intended links experience.
Finally, why are there no ball washers on the course. No excuse for this. The folks that run this course need to step up their game a bit given what they charge at full rate.
Not best showing
- No marshals to keep pace of play going.
- Ball dispenser was “empty” !’? Unable to use driving range.
Great course
If you're looking to challenge yourself with a great course this is a great option. You won't find a beautiful clubhouse or paved cartpaths but if your priority is golf this is a great option for a great price. Bring your A game, if it's windy bring your A ++ game.
