Reviewer Photos
I golfed this course a few years ago and it was beautiful.... such a shame they are letting such a nice, mature course go!
Unexpected Surprise
From Pro shop to the restaurant everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Not what some of the reviews I read previously.
Course is a hidden gem compared to some in the surrounding area.
I will certainly play here again.
Nice course
A really fun course but some of the pars in the holes and the game card didn’t match up.
Not really happy about the course
They had changed a par 5 to two holes. A short par 3 and a par 4 on the back nine. They also had a nice par three on the back but the hole was closed for play. They must not have passed this on to Garmin as my watch was all out of sink on the back. They actually had a 19th hole on the score cards because of the changes. Also a few greens were covered by maple tree seeds which make it impossible to put on. They should have have the maintenance personnel blowing these off. With all of this you could say we weren't happy campers. I'll think twice before going back.
Most confusing round of golf I've Played
They had changed the 12 hole and made the first part a short par 3. The rest of the hole was a par 4 from the top of the hill. This is where it went really weird. My Garmin golf watch was out of wack with the numbering of the holes from there on in. Then It got weirder still. 2 holes later the par 3 was closed completely. Even with the score card it was difficult to keep track of the hole numbers. They even had a hole 19 to boot which was always the 18th. My scoring on my watch was totally useless as we couldn't figure out what hole we were on. I won't be coming back until this fiasco is fixed, when that will be is beyond me.
Slow pace
Course was generally good but the roughs were too thick. Might explain slowness as balls were easily lost in the grass. Greens in decent shape. I miss the par 5 12th hole.
Needs loads of help
I play most of the game in the rough but here if you roll off the fairway get another ball. Duffed a couple drives just short of the fairway no balls to be found. Par 3. Followed the ball all the way 130yards couldn’t find ball. I’ve never seen this course in such poor conditions.
19yh hole no cash. Apparently not legal tender for them. The cart came by 2 times 1 Time it stopped the other not. Yikes. I come to expect a lot more for my 75$ round. The start was late by 20mins, the cart full of mud and old score cards and took 5sec to get going every time.
First round of the season
This was our first round of the season and, like many, we were excited to be playing again. Southbrook didn’t disappoint. The course, especially given the time of year, was in pretty good shape. The greens were difficult to read, some fast/slow and covered in sand, but to be expected.
Pace of play was a bit slow, but it was a nice day and we were just happy to be out.
Love some of the changes (ie; new tee blocks on 11, 13 & 18).
The only complaint I have is no washrooms on the course. Fine for guys, who can easily duck behind a tree, but not great for us ladies. Again, given the early date, not surprising but a bit inconvenient.
One strange, rather unexpected thing happened tho…just as we were taking our shots to the green on the 18th hole, a couple of kids (toddlers) ran on to the green and took my husband’s ball. They continued running around for a few minutes until their parents finally came and got them. It was (kind of) funny, but the outcome could’ve been bad had any of us hit them with the ball.
Added bonus, we were paired up with 2 guys who were quite pleasurable to be around.
Thanks for a great opening round, Southbrook! 😊
Southbrook
Easy breezy fun course with a good variety of tee boxes for all types of players. Challenging par 3’s. Nice staff amd members. Needs some work on the tee boxes and areas outside of fairways amd greens (which are in great shape) but looks
Like they are working on it
Course under construction
We were surprised to find the par 5, 12th hole completely torn up. They had temp tee decks around 230 yards from the green. No one mentioned it at the club house and neither did the starter.
The course is average and ok for the hot deal, would never pay full price.
