About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018 and transformed into Disc Golf Course.
Kayak Point Golf Club is one of Washington's most popular courses. It was named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses to Play" by Golf Digest, and the Seattle Times called it a "must play" course. Located in Stanwood, Kayak Point is less than an hour north of Seattle. The layout was carefully carved from an old growth forest of firs and cedars. You'll enjoy scenic views of the Olympic Mountains on several holes. The layout will test you with sloping fairways and large, immaculately manicured greens. There are more than 30 greenside bunkers at Kayak Point, but water comes into play on only two holes. The spacious golf course doesn't have any parallel fairways and it's not short on length at over 6,700 yards from the back tees.

Neglected course
The only thing positive about the course was the greens. Playing off the fairways (if you could keep the ball from rolling into the trees) was like hitting off blacktop. The bunkers were also in need of attention. Too many rock, not enough sand. Nothing enjoyable about playing. I will not be back. If you can't make it playable at least warn people before they pay for a neglected course.
MUDHEAP
Absolute mudheap. The fairways are baked out with little to no grass. Tee boxes are the same. the greens are decent but with the rolling and slanted fairways you cannot keep the ball in play. Has potential but they are going to have to spend A LOT of money
Poor Kayak
It's unfortunate that it appears they've let this course completely go. For 10+ years I've enjoyed this track, but it looks like over the last 2 years or so it's condition has been let to suffer. Hitting off of dirt/hard pan in the middle of the fairway should be embarrassing for them. Even at a discounted rate it's not worth wasting your time. Tees are a complete joke. Not sure what the plan is for renovation, or perhaps they're not renovating but maybe preparing it for sale? Be warned.
Thank you for your comments we have had some issues with our irrigation system to include a clog in our main intake line. I am happy to report that we brought some divers out yesterday and they removed 100 gallons of debris and cleared our main intake line. Our staff is out watering the course about 20 hours a day. With the cooler temps coming and the repair fixed we are greening up everyday and should be back to normal shortly. As is always the case please reach out to me via email anytime at steve.stensland@golfkayak.com
Terrible Conditions
The course is in absolute terrible condition. Everything but the greens are completely baked out and completely dead. The tee boxes have no grass and are mostly sand with many holes. The fairways are like skiing down a mogul hill, have potholes everywhere. You can hit a SW off of 10 and make it all the way down the hill 50 yards from a green, it's a 363 yard par 4 from the white. Number 7 you cannot hold the fairway if you layup in the layup area. You can reach the green as long as you crest the hill on the left hand side. Between the terrible conditions and them removing trees on 9 and 10, I will not return and definitely recommend others to go somewhere else.

Course is a disaster
I last played this course about 5 years ago and quit playing it because of conditions but I thought I would give it another chance.
Big mistake, there is practically no grass growing on the tee boxes nor the fairways. Enough said. Only positive were on the greens where you go to see green grass growing.
10 years ago, publications and friends use to rave about the course being a "must play"......its turned into a "must not play". They have special green fees on Wednesday and you'll still feel it wasn't worth the drive nor the discounted fees.
Not sure who's managing the course currently but how could it get this bad?
Please see comments above. We are getting better everyday and would love to have you give us another try in a week.
Very Dissapointing
This course once had a reputation as one of the best municipal courses in the country; and while the layout and natural beauty remain, little else has. Other than the greens, the golf course has been lost. The tee boxes don't have grass on them, the fairways are dried out and rock hard and covered with mogels. The majority of my shots were like hitting off of asphalt. Don't plan on returning until it gets the attention it needs

Kayak Point GC
A challenging layout with numerous elevation changes, tight fairways and generous greens, all surrounded by old growth fir & cedar. There are a few holes that will favour those that can work the ball both left & right. Holes 10, 12 & 14 stand out. Kayak Point GC offers fair value & a fair test.

Great looking course
Layout of the course if outstanding. Since more money has been invested in the maintenance of the course, the conditions have gotten better. The layout has always been great.
Fabulous golf course
Great variety of fairways and natural scenic vistas from every tee. Challenging yet well groomed greens and friendly helpful staff. Recommend to anyone wishing to experience this classic northwest golf course!
Good Deal
Fun course the weather was ok. Its not the course fault. I love this course because u get option for course management.
Good value.
Beautiful day. Quiet, natural setting. Fairways & greens were rough. Cart paths need resurfacing. They are really rough and have to be tough on the carts. Gas powered carts, Yuk!
Course needs better sand, no rocks
The drive took a very long time because of local traffic and road work, but was worth it because of the special discount including a cart. It's a challenging course and plays tight on several holes. The main disappointment was the condition of most of the bunkers. There were many little rocks in them and the not enough sand. You had to be careful of rocks that could easily scratch and leave marks on your wedges and the ground in the bunkers played firm because of the lack of sufficient sand in them.
kayak still rough.
Course has not fully recoverd from winter. Still a few bare spots on green and fairway. Bunkers have rocks present.
Deal only
This was a great course. Only play this course for $35 dollars or less. Conditions have gone way down.
one of a kind golf course - must play
We played on a sunny day and enjoyed the natural beauty of this course - no homes/ every hole by itself/ a real test of golf. Greens were fuzzy & slow, but that was because of aerification/ sand. Hey, it's gotta b done. They are remodeling club house, so that will be a great improvement. I like this golf course, but you need to cart, because of the distance from green to next tee. If this course was not a golf course, it would be a national park - it is that blessed w/ scenic aesthetics.
very good condition for the raining season
We book though golfnow because it come with cart : )
(weather forcast for rain storm ) but we still think to play anyway . suprise for no rain at all during our round ! the front 9 fairway is dryer then the back 9 . the only hole got our shoes muddy amy be # 10, # 18 . so far so good . PS . club house is under construction , no restaurant or equitment availabel at this time .
Good shape considering the winter
Greens were good and the fairways fair considering the rain!!!!!
Perfect fall weather
The last day to ride and drive to your ball/90* rule. made having a cart very ice. Kayak can be a tough walk, but do-able. The course was in fine shape, considering the amount of rain we have gotten. With the cool weather and the Sound so close, the ball didn't travel far at all compared to this summer.
Great course, we will be back
My brother and I play once or twice a week and bounce around to different courses. Kayak Point has now made our list of favorites within an hour of home. The greens were punched about two weeks ago but were in fantastic shape...slow but consistent throughout. Each hole has it's own unique set of challenges and provide multiple scenic views set against the trees as a back drop. Very long course which requires accuracy as well...especially playing from the tips. We walked the course and enjoyed the exercise but would recommend a cart to those that do not like the long up and down hiking. Lots of elevation changes which make the course that much more challenging with distance control and strategy. The fairways were mounting a comeback from the extremely dry summer and played just fine. A few hard, bare areas remained but did not impact our game much. The groundskeeper told us that they had a water pump problem combined with the dry summer and low pond/lake depths that caused the barren fairways that others referred to in their reviews. Typically they do water fairways in the summer so I would expect better conditions next season. I would definitely get out their now before the really rainy winter weather sets in. A great play right now and the rates are reasonable
Kayak golf- Tough but Fair
My brother from Michigan, as well as my two sons and I played the challenging course on a perfect Fall day.
The greens were great, but the fairways were thin, due to lack of water.
It was a good value thanks to GolfNow.
I would not have paid regular green fees.

Thank you for your comments. We had issues with our irrigation system, mainly a clog in our main intake line. We brought out divers and they removed 100 gallons of debris, cleaning out the lines and we are back to normal water pressure and flow. Our staff is out watering the course about 20 hours a day. With the repair fixed, the course is greening up everyday and should be back to normal shortly. As is always the case please reach out to me via email anytime at steve.stensland@golfkayak.com
