About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2018 and transformed into Disc Golf Course.
Kayak Point Golf Club is one of Washington's most popular courses. It was named one of the "Top 50 Public Courses to Play" by Golf Digest, and the Seattle Times called it a "must play" course. Located in Stanwood, Kayak Point is less than an hour north of Seattle. The layout was carefully carved from an old growth forest of firs and cedars. You'll enjoy scenic views of the Olympic Mountains on several holes. The layout will test you with sloping fairways and large, immaculately manicured greens. There are more than 30 greenside bunkers at Kayak Point, but water comes into play on only two holes. The spacious golf course doesn't have any parallel fairways and it's not short on length at over 6,700 yards from the back tees.

Good bang for the buck!
I've played it numerous times over the years. Some good deals on the green fees. Could use some work on the sand traps and a few of the greens.
Been playing here since it was opened and always enjoyed it until previous mngt. dropped the ball on maintenance/grooming of course. Glad to see latest improvements and return to some of its former glory - a pleasure to play once again.
Nice course layout.
This course could be amazimg. It needs more maintenance but then it would cost more to play.. Right now the fairways are so.dried out that if there's any slope your ball will run off, sometimes into the trees. Need to play this a gew times to know where the trouble is and which way the greens break. Like Arnold S. in the Terminator " I'll be back ".
Old favorite
It's been awhile since I played this golf course.
Moving to the Eastside plus traffic really prevented a sooner visit.
The golf course was more "user friendly" since I played there some years ago. Rough been eliminated and lots of trees removed.....
I enjoyed the round, but memory says it was a much tougher golf course in the past.
Great course , some challenging holes with tight fairways, overall the course is in pretty good shape
Enyoy it
I love this golf course the only problem is the tee are not in good condition and they is lot of rock on the fairway.need work done .
Take a cart
Enjoyed the round. Not a course I would want to play all the time. Prefer walkable
Used to love this course
We played this course quite a bit until they quit taking care of it. Seems like every year it gets worse. The forward tee boxes were in terrible shape. It appears no one is careing for the course. The staff is friendly enough, but the pace of play is horrible. Now I remember why we don't play there.
Early Morning Bliss
I love Kayak, YES I am a proud member and grateful for how it played today:) It's playing like its AUGUST...YES AUGUST... My drives were amazing this morning and the greens are rolling just right! I think they are kicking it up a notch...seriously. I played last night too and was surprised how fast both my rounds were. Nice foursomes let me play through (as a single) and I have to admit...the French fries I ate yesterday were AWESOME...
I highly recommend this course and so glad they are putting more sand in the bunkers...getting some good practice with sand will help me next weekend at my tourney.
It is typical to see deer on this course...they are pretty friendly and only run if your cart scares them. I usually see them every time I go...rare when I don't.
thank YOU Kayak staff...for always being so friendly and making me feel like I belong!
see you next time:)
Great Deals posted on GN. This is a beautiful golf course and a fun layout. If you don't have a swing tuned up, bring a lot of balls with you.
I see the superintendent has put work into the course and I hope they keep working on the greens to improve the surface. Thanks for the fun day and great deal.
Still hidden gem
Played there today. There wasn't any place you could not take a golf cart. For having the wettest Spring ever recorded in modern history, I have to say the greens staff have done a remarkable job!!!! Course is very playable but still difficult. Only complaint is the " fungus spots " on some of the greens, and lack of "fluff" in the bunkers. Greens will be fine when they figure out how to treat the problem. I realize how difficult it is to make a buck in the golf business, and you are doing the best you can with very limited dollars!! DO NOT pay attention to any negative reviews, as alot of people would complain about conditions at the best private clubs.
Hurts my heart to say this...
Kayak used to be my go-to track with out of town visitors, golf enthusiasts or if I wanted to go have an awesome round in the woods. They always had great deals too. It was the best bang for your buck anywhere. LOVED this course. Over the past couple years, the course has deteriorated to an overgrown, unmaintained series of fields through the woods. 3" tall tufts of grass on rough-like fringes, overgrown tee boxes, fairways grown the length of typical rough, bald spots on nearly every green, weeds growing out of the bunkers, etc. Why are you not maintaining one of this area's greatest layouts?
Side note: Holes 9 and 10 were downgraded by removing prominent trees. I know this happened awhile ago, and they probably (hopefully) had good reason, but those were signature elements to the course. If you play there, you know that you have 20 minutes to grab a dog and and drink at the turn (always backed up on 10 because of the blind tee shot I think) and ponder which side of the tree your aiming. That said, 10 is still a good hole.
Back to ranting: Not only was the course in the worse shape I've ever seen in 20 years of playing there, but I think that is the MOST I've ever paid to play there. $51 plus cart it was nearly 70 bucks.
It hurts my heart to say this, but I just can not return to Kayak until word on the street says they have started maintaining it again. Even then, it seems like it would take quite some time to get it back to playable.
Do not sleep on Kayak Point!
Kayak is a true hidden gem in the PNW golf world. My round was well under 4 hours, under $40, and the burger on the 19th hole was delicious. It took me less than an hour to get there from downtown Seattle and it was well worth the trip. Will play again soon.
This use to be a great course that was well manicured. Now, its hard to find your ball in the middle of the fairway because of the lack of maintenance... The greens are also slow, bumpy and several with excessive bare spots...
Love to hear more from you. Give me a ring (5737952390) or just come on by the course, ask for Zach and we can take a tour. I need to know which fairways or tee decks are rough height,. Which greens have bald spots. And please show me which part of the course looks like an overgrown field.
Again, it'd be great to hear from you, so myself and my Greenskeepers know what to do.
