Poor condition
My shaggy carpet would have putted faster than these greens, and I think the hole locations had not been changed in a week
Professional
Staff is alert and ready, keeping an organized atmosphere.
Great golf course, great expeience
had a great time on golf dcourse, difficult but fair golf course.
Lionhead - Masters Course
Have always been a fan of the Lionhead courses but find the rates higher than my target price. I was recently able to advantage of a Golf Now offer and looked forward to playing The Masters Course. Unfortunately the conditions of the greens was not what I would have expected for the course. There were still markings from end of season treament and ball roll was impacted. Fairways and hazards were excellent. Sadly, Lionhead cannot control the weather and it was slightly wet.
Wait a Few more weeks!
This course used to be very nice. Tee boxes and fairways were OK for the time of year but the greens were horrendous. Also, our electric cart barely made it to the turn. We limped back to the clubhouse and swapped it. No apology. Guys acted like they were doing us a favor. Food cart had no food. No sandwiches. Just drinks and peanuts. Lots better places to play for the money.
An OK day
I played the Masters course this past weekend (first weekend in May). I was a bit disappointed with the greens, which were fairly slow and sandy. OK, I get it - it's still early in the year and course maintenance now will make the conditions great later in the year. My complaint is that the early season conditions aren't reflected in an appropriate spring rate like many other courses. Also, the pace of play was a bit slow. Almost 5 hours, but no sign of a marshall anywhere to keep the pace moving along.
Good Early Season Conditions
Greens had just been aerated and covered with sand so putting speed was very inconsistent and bumpy. Likely 3 to 4 weeks before they are smoothed out. It would have been nice to have been told either before we booked or when we got to the course. Other than this the course was in pretty good shape for early in the season. Generally good pace of play for a Sunday morning at just under 5 hours. Everything is extra, yardage books ($5.00), Driving Range($13). Usually courses at this level offer GPS and free balls on the range. Overall good course but there are many others in the area that provide as good or better offerings
Slow
Pace was very slow and there were no marshals anywhere. By the time we finished our 2.5 hour front 9, there were 4 groups on #10. We played 2 more holes and left. Not sure if it was too early in the season but the group in front of us needed education on pace of play.
Good early spring conditions
Good conditions considering its early spring in the GTA. Sand traps have been groomed but could use more sand.
Usually a great bang for the buck if you get it under $80.
Only negative is they're renovating their restaurant which may have affected the half way house opening. Had to wait over 15min for a hot dog in their restaurant upstairs. Thankfully it was before my round but cut into range time. Range was only mats which was another negative.
My favorite course to play.
Always a great time when I play at lionhead. Will be booking another tee time in the very near future.
Challenging Adventure
Yes, Adventure! Every time I play the Masters I am presented with a different test of my ability as a golfer. This time was no different. Although it was the first game of the season and I was very rusty from the long winter, I had my difficulties and it showed in my score. That's the CHALLENGE! The next time I play it will be to improve my ability to handle this course to my advantage and hope to score better than before. Great ride for the average golfer at an affordable dollar.
Good conditions for early season
The course was in pretty good condition for early in the season. There were a few wet spots in low lying areas - but not too bad overall. Greens were rolling surprisingly well and in pretty good shape. Bunkers were also in good shape.
Golfing with the leaves
There were too many leaves on the course. The staff at some courses like Silver Lakes and Glen Cedars would try their effort to blow the leaves away from the greens and fairways but not at this course.
Lionhead Masters
Played this course late Fall. It was 8 degrees with a bit of wind but you can't ask for a better fall round. The staff were great and the course was quite empty which made for a very relaxing round. The greens were well groomed and made for very fun putts. Great course with well placed bunkers. Will definitely go back next season.
Tough course
Challenging and long. You must drive it long and accurate. Greens will kill your score.
Great late season game
First time playing the Master's course for all in my foursome, we all loved the course and the layout. Some great par 4 holes, short but hitting 2nd. shots into tightly guarded greens.
The staff was friendly but as others have noted the pace of play was slow. We were delayed 30 minutes from our tee-off time for no obvious reason (no frost delay). The first 6 holes took 2 hours to play but the pace of play picked up after that.
We paid a discounted Fall rate so we felt the game was an overall good experience, I would love to play this course again
could be great
Too slow...this course would be top ranked if they speed up play.
lionhead
Course is in great shape but this time of year ( fall) the leaves in some of the fairways and most of the greens make it hard to find your ball that's where slow play comes in other then that enjoyed playing the course
If you want a challenge, this is your golf course
A little too difficult for me (14 HCP).
The greens were uncharacteristically slow and bumpy/
Golf Now Bargain
This course is an excellent place to try out every club in the bag, especially the driver. You will find many opportunities to hit the ball long, short and high. If you like to play the ball on a hill, that is there as well. As for the water and other hazards; yes, the 16th in particular can be daunting. All in all, a very pleasant course to challenge your skill set on any level and a very scenic journey.
