Under duress
While I have only played the course twice (( I belong to another club without a driving range), I have been a range member for 2seasons.
What has been by far the most impressive aspect of my Cranberry experience is their staff including ground crew. Asking for help and getting it is not, in most cases, unusual. What is unusual are staff members who consistently monitor their customers for what they might need or how they might be helpful. For example the walk to the driving range is longer than usual. On more than one occasion by more than one staff member, upon seeing me pushing a cart and balancing 2 large bucket of balls, will stop and offer me a ride on their way to wherever. AND.It was clear to me they enjoyed these random acts of kindness and I felt I was being “seen” as a n individual.
The course itself was under duress: an uncommon amount of rain over the past 15 days had area courses close intermittently (the only other option was to issue snorkels and flippers). Also, several holes were truncated because of ongoing construction which interrupted the flow of the game. In terms of scenery, I liked the fact that for the most part, the large developmental projects that encircle the course are rarely seen from T boxes; nor are other holes which provides for an almost pastoral sense of tranquility.
As an avid golfer it became apparent to me that Cranberry closed less frequently and for shorter periods; partly I believe because of their aggressive strategy utilizing pumps to deal with water build up.(which meant I had to spend less time cleaning out the garage).
Way too slow. At noon on a Saturday we finished at around 430. A five group and twosome in front of us. Very frustrating
Overpriced, Slow and Rude
Never golf here. Staff are massively rude and stuck up, and do nothing to help pace of play. The groups of 6 in front of us made play near impossible, especially after the Marshall would spend 10mins chatting and laughing it up with them on the greens while we were waiting to tee off on multiple occasions. Course conditions are extremely wet, and it looks like they gave up on cutting anything that they can't get with a mower. Course layout is underwhelming for the price as well. There are plenty of better courses around for the same money or cheaper, and the experience of golfing at other courses locally is a night and day difference. I hate golfing at places where the staff seems like it's an inconvenience for them when you show up. Save your money. Best thing for this course is to sink back into the swamp it was built on.
Over priced
Good value at around 70 with cart. Poor conditions. Does not drain well after rain. Carts run put of power ( two days in a row). Greens a bit messy. To strict on cart path only and do not give out blue flags even though course was pretty dry. They would be better off at those prices to mark off wet spots in the fairway and allow carts to leave path on mostly dry fairways. Or even 90 degree access. Also they want you to share a cart if your a single which i have not seen since before covid.. i convinced the manager that its not right to be forced to share a cart, he agreed and let us take 3 carts for our t time. Buggy!!!
Cranberry GC
It’s a decent golf course, you can definitely see the potential there, but right now it feels like it’s lacking a little love. Some pretty rough spots out there, greens aren’t the best in some places, definitely needs some TLC. I’m sure there are reasons for it and they’re doing their best, but unless you snag the hot deal I find it hard to be paying $105 to play here.
Will maybe try it again next time I’m in the area, see if it’s a little better, because you can see there’s a nice course in there..
Cranberry
Wet condition with Cart Path limits - made it challenging.
Carts were awful
Had a dead cart the whole round and pace of play was terrible. Staff member was bringing charged carts out to everyone but our group. Most of the staff were friendly but a few that were ignorant. Next time I will save my 400 dollars for 4 people.
Very nice course
Friendly staff at check in. Course was in great shape despite all the rain. Fairly challenging. Had a great day!
Nice course but poorly managed
Disorganized from start to finish. Efforts to arrange golf carts were so poorly run and slow. Saw course Marshall once and he just asked if we were having fun despite the slow play. No efforts to speed play were mentioned or observed. Beverage cart was out of most products and after saying she would reload, it took 6 more hole of play to see her for the last time. After purchasing some beverages, she advised she had no prices available or way to charge me. Took my number and said pay in the clubhouse. Lastly, the starter advised us on a round prior to my last at this facility that we should not play the blue tee boxes unless we were single digit handicap. Pure nonsense for a +- 6000 yard tee block and a 16 handicap. Played well within the required shots to green for each of the different distances.
Collingwood course you should play
The staff were very nice from the time we dropped our bags till we left at the end of the day. The reason I didn’t give the course layout an excellent rating is the 9th and 10th hole are probably located the furthest from the clubhouse. The hole layout was very good. As for the fairways, tee blocks, green and traps, they were good overall. Fairways are wide and forgiving. The choice of tee blocks was very good, giving both low and high handicappers a fair chance. I am a low handicapper and played the blue tees and totally enjoyed the round. There are a couple of challenging par 3’s from those tee blocks though. Definitely will play again when I am back in Collingwood.
Long and awesome.
Great course, challenging, and quite a few doglegs. Love the value on the specials.
Enjoyabke
The course has some very forgiving holes and some very challenging ones. There is a great mix with some scenic holes as well.
