Old carts/ junk carts
The carts age getting older and older each month.
The batteries life is getting shorter and shorter each month. :Almost all of the seats are torn and missing
stuffing. This really takes away from the quality of the golf course.. We a premium for each person to ride and sitting a those carts are not good, not good for the course and certainly not good for the golfers. I noted 4 golf carts being towed in during my 4 hour round.
That sucks! Either get some new carts or charge us less money for the junk carts
great conditions
i’ll be back great layout great conditions. got me out early and no one behind us pushing us
Walk It
Great course if you like links style golf.
Had a blast w/ my group, very helpful and knowledgeable about where to put the ball in play, feel like i shoulda tipped them for pseudo caddying me on my 1st time out here but they’re retired old dudes and they probably don’t need the $$$ anyway but just wanted to play vicariously through me and watch me pound the ball miles and stick it close to flags lol
One downside however is the day i played i saw quite a few golf carts being towed back to the cart barn, it was raining so maybe they couldn’t charge all of them to full battery? Either way very walkable course and the ocean breeze will keep you cool anyway
Just play it!
Best city course I can remember playing - anytime, anywhere. Challenging but fair, with many trickiy pins as well as easy ones. Every green has its quirks, and is an easy walk. Great greens (much better than the Oxnard city courses), and a cools linksy layout. Just a treat to play!.
Consistently Good Course
Olivas is consistently a good course to play. Fairways in better shape than many, and greens are good too. Coastal location is usually a bit breezy.
Interesting layout and tee boxes make it playable for many skills levels.
The trailer that serves as 'clubhouse' has just very basic drinks, clothes and odds and ends you might need but is functional.
Pace of play is usually decent (I play mostly weekends) and 5 hour rounds are rare.
True greens
For how hot it’s been I thought the course would be a little burned up .. but to my surprise the course was in excellent condition. Fairways were nice and tight .. and the greens were close to impeccable. If players would just fix their divots they would be perfect. Great job to the superindent
Cooler Golf Weather
Close to Ventura harbor the course has a nice ocean breeze and the play to play when the islands are extremely hot. Bring a light windshirt just in case your there during onshore windy days and you'll Thank me later! Don't over-read the greens!
Great course, no amenities
Course is in great shape, fast pace of play, pins put in tough spots, very enjoyable round. However, only a trailer with minimal food and drink….. not a sandwich to be had anywhere. Seems ridiculous for such a nice, popular course. Beware and come prepared.
