Good course for money
Nice not too challenging course for beginners. Went with my two buddies, one of which was his second time out ever and he had a blast!
I didn’t get to use my range balls and the staff was nice enough to refund me, no hassle!
A fine windy day for gokf
Fairways are generous and well maintained. Greens a cut nicely and the ball rolls well even after the heavy rain the greens are firm and do not receive the ball well. Well worth the money
Fergus south nine
Haven’t played the lower nine in a while. Wife and I played south and west nines today; our first round of the year
Arrived and lit was fullest I ve ever went. No powercarts available but told we could wait for one. elected to walk and were able to start a few limited early
Limited pro shop access, no rakes, ball washers or benches on course due to Covid rules.
Greens were in good shape but played very slow. Several tee boxes on south were in poor shape and rough looked to have been cut recently with a lot I cut grass left in places. Please trim the 3rd hole! It had grown in on both sides to the point of being punitive from the back tees.
We were concerned with numbers at first tee but made it around in just over 4 hours. West was not busy at all
Weather was good, staff very cordial in greeting and explaining activism precautions
Good first outing wife’s game was better than mine! Enjoyable day; nice to be playing finally!
Was not worth it.
Just a poorly maintained gold course. Seems like they don’t really care about having a good playing course. Greens were the slowest I’ve ever played.
Great entry level course
You can shoot 9 for cheap. Everything is setup professionally and well maintained. As long as you are not a HARDCORE golf ENTHUSIAST and your going to check the height and similarity in the way the grass is cut... then you will have a great time. Go in for fun and leave with fun, like golf should be!
Fall outing at Fergus
Was promising to be a decent day (and it turned out to be) so I booked last minute in Golfnow for a great deal
Played with another single. He played much better!
Some areas on paths and near tee boxes were very soggy but fairways and greens in good shape and dry enough to play
I like this course which is pretty open but had a few challenging holes. Great value even at usual rates and good pace during the week and most weekends
East Gary golfer
Course was in good shape. Would really like to see all the weeds trimmed all over the course......makes it looks more attractive. Not spending so much time looking for balls if they even just rolled into it.
Better Golf Available Elsewhere
Not what I would expect from a GolfNorth property when comparing other GN properties in the tri-cities area.
Switched carts twice due to malfunctioning drivelines. Even that one still had its issues...torn seats and physical damage, but at least it moved when you pressed the pedal down. I think they must get all the GN property hand-me-downs?
Fairway conditions were poor. Yes, we needed rain, but you can tell there isn't sufficient maintenance/staff/equipment/irrigation to ensure at
least reasonable playing conditions in dryer parts of the season. Felt like it hadn't been rolled in years, cart bounced and teeth chattered the whole way down.
Overall...I personally will spend a few dollars more and go elsewhere. Its unfortunate because I enjoy the smaller clubs and would love to support this one more often, and its clear that they have their regulars which is positive.
We teed off at 12pm on a Sunday and there were very few people behind us through the afternoon. The layout isn't that bad, it should be great place for newbies to learn the game experienced players to have a nice relaxed round.
FERGUS EAST WEST
one of my repeat courses. Easy to walk, took a cart today as my wife has had back issues, but she had a great outing, only her second round this year.
Course is pretty open, with a few challenging holes and a few at good length, so you get to use just about every club in the bag.
Greens were a bit beat up, Golfers please fix your ball marks.
Pace was OK very quick on front nine, no one ahead of us, Back nine was a bit slower.
i like this course for it's open layout and ease of play, South nine is very tree lined and different feel
Great value even regular rates are fair
Course Conditions Too Dry
Overall course conditions were poor for fairways. Greens were only sections of the course that have been watered. Some fairways so brown that it was like hitting off dirt. Dry!
South course Fergus
Played the south and east nines this morning. VERY different layouts.
South has a couple holes, 3 & 4 that need to be trimmed back to allow for a reasonable chance to hit the fairway from the tee. Otherwise is ok with small greens that are in good shape. A few tee boxes are rough; again due to lack of sun getting to them.
East was in good shape played in 3 hours.
Good course for a quick round the west east setup is very open and easy to walk
The course was OK
Great course for young players to play around with they’re buddies and get familiar with the game of golf, but for a real round of golf I probably wouldn’t recommend this course. The fairway grass was rather long, the greens were pretty ratty, and got lost trying to find the next hole a few times. Overall, with a hot deal, it’s decent price for some newbies to go have fun with their friends.
