Good deal when booking on line as range balls included
Excellent course for beginners and those that are trying to determine club selection for short holes.
Could use some drainage pipe around a number of holes as they never seemed to dry up.
Did not pay much for the course but anything would be too much. Slowest greens I have ever seen, and very bumpy. Almost like trying to putt on gravel.
The reason why the pace was okay was because it was pretty well empty. For someone that is just starting, this is the course for you. Cheap and empty.
Not bad, but not great
The course is easy and great for iron play and practice, however the putting greens were terrible. Patchy, overgrown and neglected. Not many people playing so pace of play was great.
The worst I have seen it , the greens are just horrible
I have played Capital for a couple of years to practice my short game.I went this year and I was shocked to see the quality. I will not go again this year.
Cheap, but could use some TLC.
The "clubhouse" gives an indication of the grounds in General. Small, decrepit and musty, this rental shack could use an overhaul. The chip wagon out front is in better condition! As for the course itself, it's nothing fancy. Good for beginners. Great for initiating the kids to golf! No sand traps or water hazards. The fairways & greens could do with better maintenance. That said, it's a totally low-key, low-pressure course whose price matches it's description. We'll likely be back!
Easy fun course for the family
Capital golf is made of par 3's only. It is perfect if you want to play with beginners , your entire family or just maybe practice your approaches/chipping. The staff is always very nice and playing this course is a good alternative when you are short on time. You can play it under 2 hours. The greens are very shaggy and very slow.
Ideal short game venue
This constitutes a nice par3 course that offers an excellent opportunity to hone this part of anyone's game.
A great place for beginners
Small greens that are quite slow but I brought my grandchildren and this was a great place for a beginner. Price through Golf now was excellent.
Affordable golfing
Excellent value . Using golf now, I have never paid more than $15 for 18 holes. Two can golf for $25 or less (walking). The par 3 holes are about 80- 210 yards, it is perfect for families and the 'average' golfer - very forgiving. It takes 2-3 hours. The course is really not for experts, unless you are practicing your "short" game; however, for $15 or less, challenge yourself to a less than 54 shot game. Bonus, it is less than a 30 minute drive from just about anywhere in Ottawa.
Nice Course
This is a nice 3-par course. No water hazards nor sand hazards, so great for those who need to develop skills on the basics, chipping and putting.
Mostly the price is right. I couldn't afford to play golf very often at a normal course, but this courses offers specials throughout the day, and you have the place to yourself during weekdays.
A little more busy on the weekend, but not bad. Course was a little soggy when I was there, but it had rained a lot earlier that day.
I rode because I took my young son with me, but usually walk it of course.
Mostly love this place because of the prices. A 3-par allows me to get in a decent game that develops my chipping and putting. If I need to practice driving, I'll go to the range rather than a 5-par.
Recommended.
Value for the money
One of the best par there's around. Played with my four year old and had a good time. Some challenging holes for dad and some easier ones he could play.
this course gives a player good practice for his approach shots
This course is very popular for recreational golfers and conveniently close to Ottawa but a 14 handicap player would not enjoy the course. The 18 greens are small and slow ... but that doesn't matter if you want to practice approach shots. I enjoyed the round.
Well to do to tune up your short/medium game
Don't bring the whole bag, just your irons and wedges. The longest hole is 210 yards, give or take... The course is kept up well enough, and has a driving range at the front (the left side is blocked with a mesh net to prevent you hitting onto 18, and vice versa), and a large size putting area and chipping area too. opening to the first tee is a beautiful sight indeed. The tee boxes get some work, and the crew fixes them when they can... But all in all a good course, I've already played on 2 separate weekends and will most likely go back.
Supervision Needed on This Course!
As an experienced golfer, I came to work on my short game. The small greens require accurate tee shots, which is great. The greens are surprisingly in very good condition, aided by the slightly "shaggy" length of the grass.
I noticed groups of youths (reportedly from a summer camp) that were having a great time on the course, but tearing it up in the process. The maintenance person will be kept quite busy repairing all of the damages left behind by these kids and their power carts.
I actually witness eight (that's right, 8) kids riding on a single power cart--never seen anything like that before! They rode up onto tee boxes, and around the perimeter of greens, leaving awefully deep scars from the tires on the soft, wet turf.
There needs to be adult supervision on this course in order to avoid expensive repairs that will have to be recouped from paying customer in the end. The place was only being run by a couple of teenagers when I was there (Friday afternoon).
Great par 3 for beginner/intermediate player. No rush, no stress, a relaxing experience.
Enjoyed a morning of golf with a group of 4. The course was relaxing, not rushed. Plenty of space between golfers. A perfect course for beginners, women and seniors. Well maintained. There is a practice range and putting green for people who don't play often and need more practice.
Very poor conditions
No tee off markings and no information on holes. Most greens are very rough and burned grass. The course should not be open yet as they are not set-up and very wet.
Bad greens - poor fairway drainage
The drainage is very poor on the course. Although I don't care what the fairways are like (because it's a par 3 course, they could certainly make sure the greens are half decent - the greens were what the fairways should have been; really didn't give you an opportunity to practice your putting.
an excellent par 3 course
The length of the holes varies from about 80 yards to just over 200. It is a great way to practice your approach shots. The greens are quite small so it is challenging to hit and stay on the greens. The course is in very good shape but has a problem with drainage on a few holes. The fairways are narrow and the rough is very rough! So hit the green or at least drive straight towards the greens! The price is very reasonable and there is a driving range to warm up on. The price includes a bucket of range balls.
