Underrated course with different 9's!
Played super quick as a single in a cart, passed 5 groups to finish is 2.5 hours! Great staff. What a difference the front and back 9's are. Should cut/trim some trees on the back 9!
Good but not great is the best way to describe it
The course was about as good as I have seen it. I think the greens need to be a bit quicker for my preferences but it makes it a bit easier for the average golfer that you can be a bit more aggressive. The fairways and rough were dry so lots of roll off the tee. My suggestion to the course would be to have markers on the holes where a hazard comes in to play. For instance on a par 5 - it is 255 yards to the hazard down the fairway or its 200 yards to the corner etc (maybe I just need to buy a garmin). Also the website didn't work this morning for the course. So that's kinda funny that it takes you to a course that is in Austin Texas.
It is not friendly for senior golfers as my dad would have preferred some tees that were a bit closer in some places. For the most part it was a great day and staff were pretty friendly (the one I talked to anyways). Probably should also be a MAX of $40 to ride and golf after 3 pm or lower (taxes included). There are lots of practice areas including 2 putting greens, which I always appreciate even though I seldom find the time after rushing to the course from work.
All in all I am not excited about going back, the price of golf these days its just not worth it to visit courses like this very often. Its amazing to think what kind of course it would be with all that land if they invested ohhhh say 25-50 million dollars. It has the land to truly build a great course but that will never happen, it will always be a B course with average at best conditions. They could make it a greyhawk but as it sits its just a couple steps better than an Irish Hills. Average golfers I am sure you will find it more than suitable.
Made it my home course
Falcon Ridge has been a work in progress for years. As it is today, it's in great shape. The front nine allows golfers to be aggressive by taking advantage of wide fairways (although long). Make sure your game is on track by the time you reach the back nine or be prepared to dip into your bag to get those extra balls out.
This course will impact your handicap with its long fairways and odd angles and sight lines...it's a challenge. I love a challenge and I love Falcon Ridge G.C.
It's like they ran out of space
The front nine is very long and wide open. When you make the turn to play the back nine it's like they ran out of space.
The back nine is much shorter, very narrow with hazards lining both sides a lot of the time. It doesn't even seem like the same course. It's like they added another nine but didn't have enough room to continue with the style of course.
There are a lot of blind shots. The maps on the tee boxes are terrible illustrations of the holes. There are a few holes that are very confusing from the tee box, i.e. it looks like there is a fork in the hole and you don't know if it's going to the right or the left. (The illustrations are no help).
Hot Deal
Played this course on a Hot Deal and I am glad that's all I paid. Course was very dry, greens were in tough shape. I was almost blind from all the cart pathway dust after the round was over.
Friday Outing
Great day for beginning of golf season.
Than you
Excellent course considering the time of the seson
Well looked after fairways with not too many hazards around. A few more green side bunkers will be better.
Course has varied terrain
Good value with Golf Now. Friendly staff.
First 9 holes are relatively flat. Back 9 well treed. Fairways and greens well groomed.
Enjoyed playing Falcon Ridge
I played this course many years ago and was not impressed. It has improved very much and I will be back again soon to play.
Great staff
Wanted to get a sandwich early in our round and the beverage cart had run out. Upon returning the secomd time.. we were given the sandwiches at no charge. Had tried to give big tip to compensate but even that was politely refused. Awesome display of customer service!
Good course, high price
I'd never played Falcon Ridge before, but here are my key takeaways --
1) The clubhouse is spectacular. Whether it's new or newly renovated, it's a real treat.
2) The staff is very friendly, even though they seem slightly disinterested
3) The greens are on the slow side, but they roll true and are in great shape
4) The fairways are a little burned out, but nothing dramatic there
5) The tee boxes are very uneven and could use some work
6) For the conditioning, I thought the price was $5-10 too high.
A pleasant enough experience. If you can find a discounted rate, go for it.
Almost had the course to our self
The first 9 were quick as we had no one in front of us. We hit a wall around hole 11 because of the woman's intersectional playoff. No big deal as the rain held off.
We were probably the only golf course around that didn't see rain. Sweet!
The first nine were very easy, and the back a little more challenging.
We got a pretty good deal with golf now.
The staff were very nice!
Golf a test
Falcon ridge is a very goog course. The back 9 is tight.
Shaggy greens
Overall a good day for the price. Greens need to be cut a little. We played in 3 hours.
As some wrote before about holes 10-11-and 12. If you can go even for those , u r doing well. I was 3 over.
Not a Great Golf Experience
My husband and I booked 18 + cart at 2:30. We showed up an hour early for our tee time with plans of having a snack and some putting practice. We checked in and were told we should start our round then because there was group of 12 scheduled in front of our scheduled time. We played with a member walking who was on the 1st tee. Went fine until we hit a wall at the fourth hole and ended up playing a 5 1/2 hour round. Disappointed in the course and the playability. Would not be worth paying full price.
Rain and slow
We arrived and teed off in good time. The first few holes moved along well and then we got delayed by a foursome three holes ahead who were playing slowly. There was a marshal but she seemed to be patrolling the fairways that were empty. The green need attention as there are a lot of dry spots. The fairways were well cut and maintained. When it started to rain after 13 holes we headed for the clubhouse instead of waiting on the teebox for those ahead to move on.
Long and challenging course
It's a long course up to 6945 from the gold tee. The 8th measures 623 yards from blue tee. But it's not all. The most challenge is 10th, 11th and 12th which we call them devil three holes. I never saw a player who could make par-par-par for those three holes in the past 5 years. Personally I don't think it's a reasonable design because players must play on luck. In general, Falcon ridge is a beautiful course in a very good location close to airport and downtown.
Calm rustic course
The layout is interesting meandering between multiple wetlands. There are uphill holes, especially the last one offering a dogright lane that finishes on a very steep uphill. The course presents well designed holes throughout.
Customer service = a BIG ZERO. The course is easy and nice.
First, it was my first time to this golf course. The older lady with the glasses at the pro-shop has ZERO customer skills. The people in front of us had book through golfnow also and she made a "sigh' when they said it. She made another one when they said they wanted to pay separately. The guy felt uncomfortable so he decided to pay for both. We got the same treatment when we said we booked through golf now. She didn't have our reservation even though we showed her the proof and she said it wasn't her fault so we had to pay the current rate. My friend and I got so irritaded with her attitude that we decided to pay before ruining our day. Our previous deal had a bucket of balls which we never got of course. The course itself is easy and well manicured but we will NEVER go back.
Great option w/ a deal.
Very average condition, nice length and good value when you get a deal on GolfNow. Not worth full price, at least not when we played. fairway and greens were in mediocre shape. There are a few holes that have amazing length, very fun and challenging for those who like those long distance par 5s.
