Keep up the good work Todd, Chef Eloa & staff
Nice affordable Course
This is a nice affordable golf course in good condition after the irrigation updates, not long but some challenging holes.
If you're a woman looking to learn golf simply, Ashley is your girl!
This summer I decided to take some golf lessons so I could enjoy the game as a hobby with my husband and son. Ashley met me where I was at, with encouragement and support and gave me simple, practical tools I could use so that I felt successful on the course.
As well, I can’t say enough about Sunsets junior program. My son spent countless hours at the course this summer and was treated like family by the Gravett’s and their staff.
Goderich Sunset Golf Club...A gem in Huron County
Goderich Sunset Golf Club is a terrific course just 5 minutes from the town of Goderich. Staff are warm and friendly and take great pride in ensuring you enjoy the golf experience. The course is not difficult to play but does offer some interesting holes to ensure you have a challenging and rewarding game.
Overseeing everything is the class A pro, Ashley Gravett. We have taken advantage of her knowledge and skill that are evident in her patient approach to lessons. Under her care we have made great progress to an improved and more enjoyable game.
We have held membership at Goderich Sunset for two seasons and have a great experience every time we play!

Check out a lesson! you will be surprised the difference it makes
What a great course and staff, I cant wait to return! If your looking for lessons, I highly recommend Ashley! I had the opportunity take my very first golf lesson a few weeks ago, and she was absolutely terrific. Ashley is a pleasure to learn from, she is calm and understanding and realizes how hard it may be for some to adjust their habits. She doesn’t expect you to be a pro however after a few lessons with her you will feel like one! During the lessons she evaluated my current posture, stance and swing. After a few quick tips, I was already hitting the ball farther and more importantly more accurate. She gives you straight forward, simple tips
for instance "keep my knees bent", "Aim for the U swing" and "Hands to the sky” Thank you Ashley for setting me on the right path to playing great golf!
Great course for any skill of golfer. Courteous friendly staff. Great Food
The course offers something for all
This course is great for the beginner and the advanced golfer. Fairways are narrow and challenging. There is just enough water and sand to make it interesting. The course is maintained extremely well and the ground keepers do an excellent job. Staff are friendly and helpful. The pro shop offers everything you need to enjoy the round. All is all, a very positive experience and highly recommended
We have played this course multiple times and always had a great experience. Very friendly staff, beautiful greens and always moved at a good pace.
Difficult enough for those who are avid golfers but still enjoyable for those who don't!
Horrible Staff
Our family wanted to enjoy a beautiful day by the lake, two people wanted to just ride and we had 3 players. We were told we could not upset the members by golfing as a 5 sum. So we didn't, we listened to the staff member at the check in. Once we had started our round the staff member proceeded to follow us to the next hole and ask if we were actual golfers. The staff member was rude and condescending towards us. He was so concerned with the pace of play. The two sum behind us has no issues with us playing together as a family and were never waiting on us. To put this to end, we finished playing the 18 in 3 hours with out holding up any of the members or the public. I would go back because of the course but I will not be back because of the staff
Goderich Sunset
The. Course is not very long, but you need to be accurate with most shots. There are lots of trees lining most of the holes. Good usage of the stream approaching many of the greens. The greens and course in very good condition.
this course has great features
this is our first time using golf now and it was totally easy and everything was great. the course was ok bit dry but not brown. overall experience was a good one between golf now and the course
Good
Good course for the money, we paid 22 per person with cart. Staff very friendly.
Course is good, staff needs an attitude adjustment.
When we arrived at 1:40 for our 2:06 starting time, we were told that there was a 3:00 shotgun start and we had to be on the 7th tee by that time. When we asked for range balls to warm up, the owner, Gary said that we didn't have time to hit ant balls. While we were hitting a few balls, Gary was pushing us to get going and the whole front nine we felt rushed and didn't enjoy the golf'. Throughout the first 5 holes, Gary was constantly watching us, again putting extra pressure on us. If my son wasn't a junior member at this course, I would seriously consider playing at a different course.
Ok course, but staff were highly reluctant to honour the terms of the deal.
This course is ok, but lacks the creativity of most courses - many holes were all the same, with long farways and few hazards.
Worse was the treatment we received upon check-in. Staff were highly reluctant to honour the terms of the deal, even after I presented it to them in writing. They tried repeatedly to insist that we pay $17 more per person, despite our written receipt that clearly showed what we owed at the course. The staff member kept showing us some amounts that appeared on their screen, insisting we pay that. Once they finally relented, they then tried to even charge additional taxes on the amount we owed - in some sort of sneaky attempt to get more $ from us. Again, I had to refer to the written agreement to show them that taxes were included in the amount we owed.
The staff member grumbled repeatedly that "we have to sort this out with GolfNow.com", which is fine, but a real annoyance, as this has nothing to do with the customer.
Needless to say, this represented a rather bad start to what is supposed to be a relaxing game.
I certainly won't be returning, and hope that GolfNow addresses this problem - although, I suspect nothing will happen (who reads these reviews seriously anyway, right?).
Average golf course compared to nearby towns.
We completed the game in less than 3hrs walking. We only saw 5 peoples playing in the course while we are playing. The condition of the fairways are getting better especially #8. They remove 90% of water hazard between 150 & 100 yds marker. They made a new tee block at #5 hole that made it a bit more challenging. They extended a new green at #4 hole. My Garmin S1 watch GPS is off at #9 & #18 holes. Other than that, this is an average golf course.
Average Short Course
We have played Goderich Sunset many times and the most notable feature are the greens. They are always well maintained. The course is short with many ~300 yard or less par 4s, and the par 5s are relatively short also. That makes a hacker like me feel a little bit better about my game as I can actually par 4-5 holes per round. There are many trees on the course which does add to the challenge.
The owner is not fun to deal with as he always charges more than the web-site advertises.
Overall we keep coming back because we are not great golfers, we enjoy the course, and the price is right.
Never again
Fairways full of weeds, ponds run dry and void of any water. Course use to be quite nice but unfotunately owner hasn't kept it up. It looking tired and old.
