At the turn
We waited nearly 10 minutes as 2 groups decided to jump in. They stated they’d gone to the restaurant, ordered food, sat in and then took up their tee at the 10th. Not right in my mind. That is what the half way house is for.
Maintenance Issues
Tee boxes leave much to be desired! Sand traps are in horrible shape! Fairways too shaggy and pace of play too slow for a weekday! Greens however we’re in good shape for a heavily trafficked municipal course! Course has potential for a more pleasant experience if the funds were available to do proper maintenance for all aspects of the course design
Good course, starter was rude
Fun course, slightly confusing layout.
However, the starter was EXTREMELY rude to me and my friends. Yelled at us to move our carts 10 minutes before our tee time even though there was no one in between us and the starting time. Even though we had to just park back in the same spot to start the round 5 minutes later anyways...
Deceptively challenging
Looks wide open from the tees and you watch you ball kick into rough. Very uneven terrain makes you choose shots very carefully. I played on a wet day and some greens had drainage issues, some puddles forming instead of running off. The bathrooms could really use some cleaning, even for a public course that was pretty bad. Came for the golf though, not the bathrooms, and will come back again.
Good place for beginners.
I topped my balls twice at my first tee as I haven't played for a month. John at the tee gave me some quick tips and that helped a lot. Will come again.
Martin course
Nice condition, and great value for money , some of the tee blocks are in not a well thought out spot number 12 can be frightening.
The City has given up on this course and should just sell or lease out the land
Course is good value for beginner players but if your below a 25 Handicap you're just going to finish round as fast as possible.
The course layout is boring and inane, Greens are trash, tee blocks are trash and they've stopped watering the fairways.
The Staff are a bunch of humps. Nothing in the Pro Shop or Clubhouse. Starter who wearing Jeans and hiking boots took it upon himsekf to enlighten my group of golfers with over 80 years of combined golfing experience of the proper ettiquette.
They make you sign a damage waiver for the Carts meanwhile the "Cart Parths" are fit for the Dakar desert rally and the all you do is porpoise down ungraded/scaped faiways.
The City is so broke it's insulting that they have the arrogance to maintain ownership/management of this asset which should be profitable and bring pride to the city.
Great Value
Chedoke Martin is a municipally run course that is generally very well maintained. At just over 5700yds, it’s a shorter track but fun to play. Great course for beginning golfers as there are no water hazards and very few bunkers. If you spray the ball, you’ll likely find it on another hole. You will likely want to ride this course as it is on Hamilton Mountain and very, very hilly.
