I'm a member here at Northern Dunes this year.
A number of greens are suffering from the effects of winter and for this reason are longer and not up to prime golf season quality but I played there last year and I know that they will get there.....it's early yet!
Beginning of the year issues
The staff were very friendly. We were able to go off on time but caught up quickly to another twosome. We quickly saw the group ahead was a bit slow and the group before them. It didn’t look like anyone aged of them. A marshal would have been handy.
The greens were absolutely horrible and need a lot of work. Lots of round patches. Some were cut short and some not so putting was frustrating.
The first nine hole are somewhat secluded then the back were very open. The price was a bit high for the condition of the course.
Needs help.
Greens and tee boxes are terrible. Dollar spot everywhere, rocks in the bunkers. They need someone who knows how to run the course. No beer cart on a Saturday afternoon. 40 bucks for 9 and a cart and I still felt ripped off.
It's unfortunate. This course has never lived up to its potential.
First time playing in Canada and a beginner so enjoyed myself front desk was great very helpful. We will be back!
Opening Day 2023
Awesome to get out in the beautiful weather and although 3 of the holes were under water the course was extremely playable and very dry in 90% of the course. Love the moderate difficulty of the track as it is enough of a challenge to be worthwhile playing. Only 3 wonky holes that I don't love the layout on 7,8 and 17. Otherwise one of my favourites to play early and late in the season when my course is not open!
Excellent value
Played in 3 hours. Course is in best shape I’ve ever seen it. Tight front 9 and wide open back 9. Country course that’s a lot of fun and great value
Improvements
Some of the tees were closed because of new sod, which was much needed. It would be nice to have some decent grass on the fairways.
Greens were aerated and sanded, hopefully the winter will be kind to them.
Great day , great weather
I had the pleasure of golfing with Clark the course manager, learned a lot about the course over the past 20 yrs and some background of the area. He was very knowledgeable of any questions I had about green care , course upgrades coming , work load in the off season .. and oh yea we golfed a good game as well
Can’t wait till spring to start all over again.. cheers to all.
