Very well maintained course. Fairways, greens and bunkers were in great shape. Played early morning on a weekday so pace of play was great. Very reasonably priced for the quality.
Tough course. Nice Layout.
Lots of narrow fairways with tree lines and thick fescue.
Price is a little steep for just walking.
A few picturesque holes to be sure.
Silly layout
Royal Ontario takes great pride in being one of the highest slope ratings in Ontario. One would think that that would translate into a memorable course but instead it means a bunch of blind shots and quirky holes (225 par 4 90 degree dogleg). Definitely a course you need to play this course a couple of times to know how to play it.
the day was perfect and so was my score, I had fun with my friends
The day we had was excellent had not been golfing in a while it was such a nice time with my friends and family a real treat ,
Could use some TLC
The course has a nice layout , with many holes having tight landing areas off the tee. Easy to donate balls if you’re not accurate from the tee. Greens were both thick and also filled with unrepaired ball marks. Very frustrating to see a good layout not respected by the staff and players.
We are on it each day, divots and ball marks. Thanks!
Thanks
Bad design that isn't worth it
I had expected a course with a "Royal" designation in its name to be a top notch place but, don't let the name fool you. I thought that it was a really badly designed track with a lot of water features that couple be presented better instead the overgrowth around all the ponds. If I was the owner of this course I would not be too proud of how this course has been taken care of. Its not the superintendents fault its just that the surrounding forest and bush has been allowed to grow over and consequently covers a lot of the natural features that this course has. Because of this overgrowth its not a particularly attractive course to play. A couple of suggestions I would have is to clean up the overgrowth along the ponds and other water features, divot the fairways better and take the large stones that can be found out of the bunkers. I expect a lot from a course with the Kaneff brand on it and this one definitely was a disappointment. Might be a while before I come play this track again?
In response to the Kaneff Golf comments on my past comments. This is just a deflection of blame when it comes to my comments about the course conditions. I'm sorry but, I'm not interested in coming back to play this track again because of what I commented on previously. I'm sure that the conservation authorities aren't that strict about the areas mentioned previously?
Many areas around the ponds are now protected areas by conservation authorities. Being able to cut and trim everything is not possible due to various enviro restrictions. Along with spraying chemicals to help with this are now heavily regulated.
Difficult Course
You'd better him them straight or this course is not for you. Put the driver away on a number of holes and you will be happier.
Shot makers course! Thanks for the comment
Rotal ontario
Course was in excellent shape. Much much better than when i played here a couple of years ago.
We will pass this on to Tony our new Superintendent!
Good times
Course was in great shape, play was a little slow. This a challenging course, and some tight fairways. Ton of fun was had, only downside was we paid more than what the booking on GolfNow indicated.
Very strange, we will look into this. Thanks for the feedback
Thanks
Tee boxes, greens and sand traps all in pretty bad shape
We will work on this, thanks!
Leo
Not worth the money because of the name....way better courses on HOT DEALS
I have played all the other Kaneff courses...first time here....
Too many dog leg holes...
We were a foursome and had to let 3 twosomes through by the 12 hole....starters dont know their job????
We finally had a good pace and flow 13-18....
Anyways....move on to Niagara and Legends which is always the best
Great feedback, will send to the proshop and the starters.
Early morning is the best time to play! Thanks
