Greens in best shape I have seen them.
I have played this course a few times in the last couple of years and this is the nicest I have ever seen the greens. Views at course are almost as good as Deerhurst and conditions comparable (I would even say the greens here were better than Deerhurst the last time I played there in 2012). For the money, I would always play HD over Deerhurst. We played in 3.5 hours teeing off just after 8 am on a Sunday morning. The starter told us to keep pace with the group ahead of us because they were busy, but no one teed off behind us until we were on the 5th hole. There were groups on most holes when we were finishing our round.
overall GREAT
The marshall tried really hard to keep people moving but a couple slow groups walking slowed things down. The course itself is well kept and I enjoyed it a lot. A very good golfing experience.
positive experience
course was in good shape; pace of play was reasonable; staff friendly
Good course
A good challenging course. Some greens still had winter kill, but they were working on it. Safe layout, fairways in good condition, food is good and reasonably priced. Pace was comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Would recommend course especially in the fall. Last hole is the least challenging and poorly laid out. Enjoyed our day
Saturday Golf
Can be a terribly slow round with the cottage golfers (5-5.5 hours). It was a better value course a few years ago when the price was around $50 but the money you are spending compared to some of the other area courses is excellent.
Overall a good course that doesn't really require a driver (but can make it very easy if you do) but you will have an opportunity to play a good strategic round of golf.
I am about a 10 handicap.
Very scenic partly through forests.some beautiful holes.
Good value and one of our Favourite moderately priced courses near Huntsville. One improvement that could be made would be to add windscreens and bag shields to the carts as there is no protection from rain.
Short but a challenge
Lots of beautiful looking holes; a little short but fine for more golfers; you can use all of your clubs and have to think your way around the course; typical of a Stanley Thompson designed golf course. Played 18 holes in less than 3.5 hours; it's a treat to feel like you have the whole course to yourself. Weekday pace of play is a golfer's dream.
Pretty course
A short course but very pretty, interesting hole designs and enjoyed it so much we went back to play it two more days in a row.
Great value, beautiful setting, senery and well maintained
One of my favorites. The Course is great value and always well maintained. Lots of elevation changes and challenging bunker placements make this a challenging course but well suited to the beginner and intermediate player as well. Beautiful scenery along the way always makes for an enjoyable outing. It takes me an hour and 10 minutes to get there and is worth the drive.
The best feature are the large, fast, undulating greens.
Great value for money. Hidden gem in Muskoka. A little short in terms of modern day courses - 4 reachable par 5's. Large, fast unulating greens make it a challeng.
The front nine was tougher than the back nine.
the course was in great shape just freshly cut.The marshall was friendly. One thing the lady at the proshop did not seem to
be happy. She addresses us tas the golfnow people.I thought that was a bit odd. However we had a great time.We will use you again.
Great country side course
We played around 11 am up about an hour from our tee time since very few were on the course. Course generally wide fairways but getting off fairway, ball was difficult to find.
Would play again
Fun to play
Huntsville Dawns is a great golf course. It brings the best out of any golfer. Some fairways are very forgiving, however require precise second and third shot. The greens are in a very good condition and hard to read . They are mostly protected by green side bunkers. Water comes in play on many holes and tests the golfer’s ability to overcome the fear of losing the ball!
This course fits well into the beauty of the Muskoka topography.
The playing area of this course has a history, in general, of being well maintained. The rough and hazzard areas were often neglected. This has changed recently with a real effort to clean up those areas.
Very challenging with unique holes.
Very enjoyable day.Do not usually find this type of course in cottage country unless you are playing resort type facilities.Laid back atmosphere with a unique and challenging set of golf holes. All of this and set in the middle of the town of Huntsville.
nice local alternative to high-end courses like Deerhurst
Once you get past the ho-hum service the course was in excellent condition. Second time this year with an early tee-time that neither the cart person or the starter has made it in to work. One person in the pro shop to process the paperwork and then walk you over to the restaurant to sell you a coffee. They issue lots of pretty coloured bag and cart tags that no one ever looks at. Luckily the course is very nice. Challenging and scenic. I refused to play this course for a couple of years because of their "if you don't like it go somewhere else" attitude but it's worth it if you can get a good GolfNow rate. I think the emergence of North Granite Ridge has forced ownership to rethink their "only game in town" approach.
The day was okay
The day was okay but I was disappointed with the conditions of the course, especially the front nine. As well we were waiting on almost every hole. The back nine was definitely the one with views, variety and better conditions.
nice course some interesting golf holes
would definately golf there again good value fun course to play
