Love this course!

My family has been playing this course for decades and have always enjoyed the challenge this course provides. Stanley Thompson courses always require skill and this is no exception. Conditions can vary based on weather but the owners do their best. This is a public course, so you can’t expect the same conditions as a private or high end (expensive!) course.
The owners are very friendly and work to accommodate our tee time needs.

Solid little 9 hole

I play this track a few times per year and always enjoy it. Driving range is my favourite one because of the super tall pines, although the greens are not real grass and you can only hit off of old mats. Good enough for a few warm up balls and drivers echo very loud. You can tell the course is a Stanley Thompson right from the first hole, even though they have removed most hazards and considerably widened the holes. The layout is very enjoyable, holes #4, #6 and #8 are my favourites. The course is never in fantastic condition and the greens don't roll very well, but are playable. The staff is generally friendly however there is not much going on for a clubhouse. I like the value of the course and the way it is thoughtfully carved through the forest, nothing special, just great for a quick round.

Old estate by the lake, lots of pines

This course was not carved out of converted farm land. It was designed by the famous Stanley Thompson and was part of a wealthy businessman/politician's estate in the 30's. As a result, it is lined with mixed trees, mostly tall pines (not fields)...very picturesque! It is 9 holes only, at a moderate price in the low 20$ CDN (2105). There is a driving range $, chipping and putting greens to warm up at.
The course had no condition problems when I played except one day, after a severe rain, 3 holes were closed off but prices reflected that. I play there several times a year and will continue to do so. The club house area is a bit junky but that did not effect my golfing day. Make a tee time first.

Sub-par is usually a good thing...Not here.

While this course will give you a quick 9 or 18 hole experience, the staffs attitude will be enough to make you want to never return. The fact that this course was named a top 9-hole course to play has surely gone to the staffs collective ego's as they are quite dismissive of any golfers that are new to their course, and that attitude starts with the owner and works its way down the totem pole. The course itself is in "okay" condition. The greens are small which makes you need to be able to hit it and stick it. Don't bother trying to get a handle on green speeds as they change at each hole. Some of the greens have skull marks from low cutting which provides for a thrill as you may hit the green on a par 3, only to still have a form of a bunker shot for birdie.

If you are looking for a course near home, are a beginner, or perhaps are of the age that you should be on the champions tour (or older) then this is a course for you. But as said earlier, the staffs attitude towards customers makes for a lousy experience. Very bad ettiquette

Enjoyed playing this course

A little bit out of the way, but once I got to the course, I was greated by friendly staff. The course was fairly open but did not forgive you for a bad shot.
