Course was in very good shape. Course is short with most par fours less than 350yds. Still found it challenging since a good tee shot is required on most holes
Good Things Come in Small Packages
While this course plays short (just 5100 yards from the back tees) and is only a par 68/69, it is a surprisingly challenging course and full of little surprises. The fairways and greens are extremely well maintained and it's an easy course to walk. The par 4's tend to be on the short side, some of which are driveable if you have the length and the confidence. However, these are made up for by some longish par 3's, one of which plays at nearly 230 yards. The first 15 holes are relatively open, with creeks, ponds and trees to keep you honest, while the last 3 are in a heavily wooded area. If you're in the London area and have overlooked this course, I'd recommend you give it a try. You may be back for more.
Fun to play
I have played the course before but my friend from Shelbourne had not. We both had a great day, and enjoyed the course, the people were friendly and accommodating as I had messed up the tee times but the young ladies behind the counter made the mistake I made stress free! The sausage man and the course manager very friendly.Good job!
Always a good place
Great value. Some slight rash on a few greens but overall good condition. Very friendly staff and good pace of play for a busy day.
Fast pace
My wife and I were able to complete our round in just over 3 hours. Considering how dry it has been, the team at Hickory have done a wonderful job keeping the golf course green. The greens were in excellent condition. We will play this course again.
Missed the rain.
Position type golf course and easily walked. Many holes played with irons of the tee. Course was in excellent shape. Played the 18 in under 3 hours. Worth the money if you get a deal not worth it if paying full price. Many nicer courses around for the same full price cost.
Great Course
Course is always in excellent condition, and always so friendly. Dan in the pro shop is always so helpful. i always golf here because it is cheap yet and amazing course.
BAD ATTITUDES! Yes, plural
Just plain old fashioned poor attitude started during our check in by the Senior person in the Pro Shop, especially when we were early. It seemed like we were an inconvenience to them. No PROfessionalism there.
It was backed up by some terrible behaviour from the grounds crew. The members/regulars that we were playing with were embarrassed.
The BBQ Chef was the most pleasant of the all the staff. Wonderful personality, polite and his food was rewarded with a smile, a Thanks and a TIP.
We didn't let the others ruin our day off, our day out and some wonderful weather and company.
looking for fun!!
It's a short track really short but in great condition
Good for seniors and beginners green are fast and soft loved playing there itS a good confidence boost for a long hitter.
Review of Hickory Golf Course
Great day at the course. Greens were in great shape. Not too busy... got around in 3 hours....
very nice shorter course
we usually come play this course 4-5 times a year
It might not be the longest course around but if you don't keep it straight you can still get in trouble
A good test of every club in your bag
The course is always in great condition!
We will be back
Lovely course
will definitely play here again.
Only problem we had was finding our way to the 5th tee!
Fun Course
Great little course, not too long or too short. Because of this, it is always busy, which leads for a slow round. Wait at every tee block. On the plus side lots of time for socializing. Get to use all of the clubs in your bag.
Nice little Course
A great deal on Golfnow provided us the opportunity to give this course a try. It's is a great little course for beginners or Seniors. Not overly long or difficult but well maintained and fun to play. Because we played in late October, there was no beverage cart or ranger on the course so not sure if they offer that during peak season. I would play this course again but only if I can get another deal like I got on Golfnow.
Best value in London
An amateur golfers dream course. Conditions of greens and fairways are always excellent. Tee blocks need work. We don't play out of the bunkers. Like all but the really high end courses in London the bunkers are crushed gravel and very thin. Most of the par 4 holes are under 300 yards so any drive over 200 yards leaves you hitting wedges, that is a lot of fun (just like the pros). You can score well here usually break 90 so it makes the game a lot more fun.
Great shape
Lots of variety.... Distance, hazards, water
Very forgiving course, very few sand bunkers!
Easy to walk
Nice Small Track
Nice track but a little tight at times resulting in a lot of ball coming into your fairway. Too many par 4's. Plus greens were just air raided which makes putting frustrating.
Nice respectable outfit
This course was/is too short for long hitters but it is nice looking and has many scenic holes. Good course to take your wife to. A lot of respect for notifying ppl about aeration of greens. Made putting difficult but they warned you which is honest and ill def be back to see how they play and to stick my 3 iron on the 230 yard par three and eliminate 4 strokes
Hickory Ridge Review
Hickory Ridge is one of the best short courses I've played, it's well maintained and is a great course for any skill level.
