Great course - Atrocious condition
I love this course - love doug carrick, have played several times and was always great. Fairways were in terrific shape - however almost unplayably patchy rough and truly atrocious (bumpy, patchy, heavily marked) greens made the conditions not good, at all - played on discount, and the condition just wouldnt have been worth a full price fee.
great layout though!
Terrible Greens
This is embarrassing for a course this expensive and this nice layout and facilities. The greens are the worst I’ve played this year, anywhere. I can’t imagine they let people play there in these conditions. Just awful. Don’t know if it’s people not fixing it or what but they’ve got to do a better job of this. Not a good value at the prices they charge.
Awesome course!
Some greens were in rough shape. Golfers were not fixing ball marks so spent most of my green time fixing the greens. Course layout is amazing and fairways were perfect.
Course Maintenance
Background: I bought the gift certificate for my son to celebrate his 10th birthday. My husband took him there. My husband is a scratch golfer and worked as the lead hand of greens maintenance at a golf country club for three years.
The main disappointment is on the greens maintenance. The greenside bonkers were not raked, grass was extremely wet that my son's shoes were soaked. The property is poorly maintained for a PGA hosting golf course.
The cart return was very far from the parking lot. By the time golfers finished their round, they have to drive to cart all the way back to the return spot and walked with their bags to the parking lot. It was a good ten-minutes walk after playing golf for the whole day.
There were about a dozen staff help cleaning the carts but half of them got nothing to do just playing on their phones, why can you send them to rate the bunkers?
Angus Glen - south course
Impressive location! Surprised at the lack of direction at drop off during confusing Covid times. Loved the GPS in the carts! Didn’t expect the weeds on several red tee boxes.... or the abundance of beer cans tossed in the bushes. The greens were very burned too. Ball marks don’t seem to be repaired by golfers or staff . . I know it’s been a tough year for everyone .... just expected a bit more at this price point.
Truly Scary What This has Become
With some out of town guests and no ability to take guests to my club, we played Angus Glen. Pace was great because there was nobody there for good reason. First surprise, cart path only. They are not watering or tending to the golf course but they want allow you to drive on an almost dead golf course. Second surprise, greens are the worst I have seen on almost any course. No maintenance. Bumpy, not level and dead spots everywhere. Dead spots are because they are goose turds everywhere. They don’t remove them, they just let the mowers smash them into the greens and kill them. Tee boxes do not resemble tee boxes. No scorecards, water or any services available.
This was never a good golf course, but they built a brand as a tournament course with decent golf course conditions. John Stollery would be mortified to see this place now. It will likely be housing soon as it is a terrible experience for golf. Go anywhere else with your $125.
Conditions Poor. No marshall
A 5 hour plus round. No marshall. Greens pockmarked and ragged. Fairways full of divots.
A good challenge for a mid hcp
Was a fair challenge for this 12 hcp. The clubhouse food and drink are well priced for a high end course. Will definitely come back.
