Legendary Tract Deserves Much Better Care
I was forunate enough to have played in the "B" flight on the North course of the 2002 Canadian Open Pro Am held on the Siuth course. On the Monday morning after the Open I was again fortunate to play the South course which was still set up for the Sunday round.
Twenty one years later it's heart breaking to experience how the South course has deteriorated. In particular the green complexs. The owners sure sold a lot of homes though.
Players need to respect the greens crew and the course - South Course
Great staff, great layout, South course was in beautiful shape despite the disrespect shown by the players.
My son and I must’ve fixed 10 divots per green on all 18. I’m not kidding.
Couldn’t believe no groups were fixing ball marks on the greens.
That is my only concern.
Aside from ignorant or lazy players playing the course, I would recommend the South course and looking forward to going back.
A course I should play more often
Overall it was excellent from reservations, to check in, to practice facilities and staff it was a 5..I scored value at a 3 as the conditions of the greens were not great and sadly because the groups ahead did not repair any pitch marks etc.. I will be back
Still beautiful!!!
Have played here many times over the years. Busy even on a Friday of a long weekend. Pace of play was about 4.5 hours, not unusual for sure, as most are 4somes. Challenging, mature course which has aged beautifully. Need a bit more signage as traversing from hole to hole. Some missing. Only dark spot was the restaurant. Asked for outdoors and there were spots, but told 'not available' and then 5 minutes after we sat, someone asked for the same for the same size party and were sent outside. Then our order took about 30 minutes to get there. DEFINITELY not up to par! Food also so-so.
Most relaxing round of golf ever for me. 10 minutes between tee times was nice.
Angus glen South course is a must play for golf lovers.
One of the best courses in the world!
Angus Glen South is one of the most interesting set of 18 holes in the world. Every hole is different and fun!
Course Conditions were not good
Other than the fancy clubhouse. Played the south course. For the price, it seemed like I was playing a low cost muni course. Tee boxes were all marked up or dug up. Clearly no filling of divots was done. I understand that this course may be used highly for corporate and tournament play but the conditions should equate to a $60-80 course. Not pleasant to play at all. Staff was neither rude nor overly pleasant especially at the golf shop. For those who wish to pick up a souvenir (ball mark, divot tool), there is nothing but at an over amount of Nike apparel. Just a highly disappointing experience.
Disappointing
Just like almost everything else these days. You don't get what you pay for. There are a small amount of courses in the GTA that charge premium pricing to play. Upwards of $165. When you decide to treat yourself and go to a high end course. There are certain expectations that you have prior to arrival. This course did not meet my expectations on this day. I read a bunch of recent reviews before deciding to book here. You can take most reviews with a grain of salt except when many of them bring up the same points. Here are my pros and cons for the south course on this day. Food and beverage were thumbs up. Cart and restaurant. Only Ontario has way too many rules about alcohol. ( but please feel free to go drink in a park isn't that what a golf course is? ) I don't go to a course for the food and beverage though. Does anyone? I go for the golf course. Greens were too slow. Weeds and some 3 to 4 inches high on some tee blocks. Holes cut on the greens looked like they had been in the same spot for several days. No sharp edges to them. Fairways and rough were nice, both a bit long. Most course don't cut on the weekends. There are far better course conditions out there and some for much less money. Covid seems to have ruined golf. Very few people will respect the course and other golfers. Please rake the bunker, fix your ball mark, repair your divot. Make an effort to leave the course perfect. Otherwise go play mini golf.
Golf experience south course
This course is challenging many levels to deal with, greens are fast. Alot of blind spots on south course. Hills valleys and water. Tee boxes need some work done. For the money I did not expect to see weeds on tee boxes.
No Rain check
I played 9 holes and couldn’t complete another 9 due to heavy rain, however the club didn’t provide a rain check saying that GolfNow will. But I don’t see Golf Now does that. This is the risk of booking from GolfNow.
