Course is old and tired

Very friendly staff but course was in very poor shape. More leaves in the traps than sand, more sand in the greens than grass. Not one I'd play again or recommend.

This course is horrible

This was by far the worst course I have ever been at. I don't know how it's even open.there is more sand on the greens and more grass in the sand traps. This is probably the only time that I could say that I would've rather been at work!

Lost pines

If you get a deal on golf now, then it's worth the money at $15 a round. Not worth $30 on the weekend. Layout is descent, greens need a lot of work. Fairways need grass

First time playing this course

It is almost impossible to tell the difference between the rough and the fair way at this course. Unfortunately, the same can be said for the "green" and the fair way. The greens were actually worse than the fairway with dirt and dry/dead grass. It is almost impossible to get a fair roll on your putt because the dead grass makes the ball bounce. The view from the tee box on a majority of the holes is just a bunch of yellow grass with a pin in the distance. I know this isn't really "golf season", but I've played at other courses this month and have not experienced the same problem. There are hardly any yardage markers, besides at the tee box. I almost feel bad writing this review because the older woman working in the pro shop was so sweet, very very nice but the course was just in terrible shape. I'd like to come back sometime in the spring to give the course a fair shot because the layout on a lot of the holes are nice.

Good course but not great

The course is cool if you want to just play 18 holes but there is nothing special to be had. It's good value for the price for a round. It's not to technical or challenging.

Warning!

This is a beautiful, fun course for players of any ability. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The shop is rustic. I only paid $10 to play, including cart.

The fact is the greens are between horrible and non-existant. There are huge bare spots, areas that are thin, and areas of common burmuda grass( think of a poorly maintained front yard) making it next to impossible to enjoy your round.

We gave 10-footers and played automatic two- putts just to finish.

Do not pay to play here until you check out the greens.

Honestly, I'd drive to at it again...if the greens were merely awful.

Nice

A nice little public course. It's basically just like a county course but it's nice having 18 holes as opposed to the nine holes you gently see with county courses

You get what you pay for

Yes, this is a course in a state park. Yet I would hope that the funds they receive to maintain the place were a bit better spent. Several spots on greens with no grass at all. Sand bunkers have had grass reclaim most if them. Tee boxes all need attention.

Now for the positive. Very relaxed place to play. No real pressure about pace if play like at most courses today. Had 9:30 tee time. Got there at 9 and was told we could start whenever. Lots of singles and twosomes. Playing through is common and encouraged.

All in all. A great place to go to concentrate on mechanics and not for the view.

Lost Pines-Lost Cause

Slow greens, some needed a lot of work done on them, lots of bare spots. Greens were thick and ball rolled bumpy. Probably a 7 or 8 on stimpmeter.
-No yardage markers on fairways or sprinkler heads. It was always a guess how much you had to the middle of green if you hit the fairway. I only spotted a couple water jugs in 18holes. It was 100 degrees out and water is crucial when playing in those kind of conditions. Fairways needed watering. Lots of dry and brown spots. No sand in sand bunkers, grass/weeds growing in bunkers. I won't return for another round there.

Needs Work

The course needs a lot of work and resources. The fairways were in need of mowing and lucky that we had some recent rain. The greens had bare spots and it was difficult to putt. Maybe it will improve as they were working on it while we played.

Swamp Golf

Just played this course on Sunday, Wow worst course conditions I've ever played at, the sand traps were full of weeds and mud. Made the drive from austin and had never played there before, course needed some defiant greens/grounds maintenance. The best thing is a roadhouse across the way. Save your money and book somewhere else.

This course has some fun hills on the back 9

Great staff - very friendly and helpful. Nice pace no one pushing or holding us back. Could use side fairway distance markers. The in ground markers are sometimes hard to find. Most holes are wide open so you won't lose many balls. Greens were in bad shape needing renovation but still puttable.

cheap & fast, but poor conditions

I played as a single in just under 2 hours for $14. Staff was friendly and showed me how to not get lost on the course. Could be a solid course, but needs lots of work.

Poor fairways, fast greens

The fairways need some serious work. On one fairway, you are playing off of hard bare dirt and the next is muddy with over an inch of standing water. Apply whatever you are doing to the greens and the course would be much nicer to play.

Good place to work on your game

I come out to this course as often as I can because they are fairly laid back. Play can get bottlenecked sometimes but it's great for lower skill level players to really enjoy themselves without feeling rushed. It's of the greens are in good shape, but there are a few that don't seem to want to green up.

Lil

Had not played the course for quite a few years. Loved the new holes and it was fun to play. However, the course was in poor condition. Not much grass on fairways and tees and greens not very good.

State Park course

An older course with plenty of beauty despite the massive forest fire and skirted the course a few years ago. Lift and place rules in effect in certain areas and some greens were rough due to the drought, but overall a moderately challenging course that tests the short game. Awesome staff!!
