I'll Be Back
This wasn't the first time I've played this course, and there is good reason for that. It offers a challenge to all levels. The greens are tricky and quick. The course itself was in very good shape considering how little rain we've had this summer. And the owners (Cal and Patsy) are truly delightful people. 5 stars
Great value, friendly staff
Played the course in just over 3 hours. A medium length course with challenging pins on some sloping greens. Staff on and off course were super friendly and accommodating. A solid test of golf and great value for the money.
Nice challenge
Course is in fairly good shape, greens are a little slow compared to other courses I have played so far this year.
Fairways are wide open for the most part, par 5's are a good distance and require good ball striking to get there in 3.
Tee boxes are peaked for some reason so it is a challenge to find a flat lye to tee up.
Overall a good intermediate course.
Great Value
I played late in the day so the course was not busy. Overall conditions were very good with the greens in good shape. This course is very good for the novice golfer or those who want enjoy the scenery.
Experience at Briar
For the price i paid it was well worth it. The course has decent greens for the most part with a few in rough ahape. One negative was the constant back up. You or others are constantly backed up.
Its a fun course for the most part. Great course to learn on.
do not play on weekend
It took 5 hours to play 5 holes so we quit. During week it is really good.
Greens in great condition
The greens are in excellent condition for this time of year - not a bare patch to be seen. The fairways were well mowed and the rough was healthy - keep your eye on the ball so you know where to look. That being said, this is not a great course. The fairways have a variety of grasses and playing the ball as it lies can be very challenging. The front nine is monotonous as it begins with 7 par fours. The greens are also somewhat uninteresting as most have the upside down saucer shape. There are few bunkers. However, it seems to be well looked after and it was great value through Golfnow as I played with cart for under $20. I struggled with the recommendation question so I'll add the proviso, if you get a good rate.
Very Nice Course
Nice, open course with many different types of holes (doglegs both left and right, water, fairway bunkers, etc...). Greens were on the smallish size, but ran true. We quite enjoyed golfing here !
Well worth it!
Excellent course for the money. Some of the greens are very challenging. Condition of the greens was excellent. The overall course condition was very good.
Great course for the price
Course was in great shape, many greens are sloped, weather was great, few people on the course, overall a great afternoon.
Refund
When we arrived, it was raining and it had been raining for a while. There was one car in the lot and we checked the pro shop door, but it was locked. We tried a side door, but it too was locked. I called the pro shop and the gentleman said he never opened the doors this day as it was too wet. How do I get a refund?
Ok course
This course is laid out nice. Challenging greens, fairly strait forward.
Greens were in nice shape.
Fairways were ok, quite a bit of weeds in the fairways but cut well
Tee off blocks were sub par in my opinon, off level sparse grass, weeds but cut well.
Overall ok course but a little expensive for the quality of course.
The price is right!
The greens were in good shape and quite challenging.
The cart paths need work and some basic improvements around the tees, i.e. wet holes that the carts have made.
Good Bang For The Buck
Having played the course many times I would say its a great course to play if you can get on under $40 with cart. You wont get any fancy bells and whistles playing Briar Fox but what you will get is a course that is great for all skill levels and each year seems to be in better shape than the last. Fairly large greens will provide somewhat of a challenge with fronts and sides that fall off.
18 holes
The course is wide open so for the two of us it was suited perfectly. A bad tee shot left us with a challenge but we didn't have to waste time searching for lost balls.
Considering bringing a company tournament here. The pace of play was great!
great greens
greens in excellent condition. fairways tee boxes need work.
A soggy day
Course was very wet due to all the rain in the area.
Greens were good. Fairways had puddle,.strict cart path only rule was in force which all makes rating difficult. Will play the course again.
It was good for the price
It was an average golf course, the price was great and that was why this course attracted me
Fall Drive
Received a great deal on green and cart fees, and booked our late October afternoon round. We especially liked the pace of play since the course wasn't too busy; allowed us to enjoy a leisurely pace on a bright afternoon.
Only problem was two groups (5 players) behind us were whining about the 2 groups ahead of us (6 players). One know it all went so far as to jump ahead of us in his cart and confront the players ahead (on the green). In spite of the fact we told him the group offered us a "play through", which we declined because we were not in a rush, this idiot made an dork of himself. We made a point of driving ahead to tell the group that we weren't complaining about them.
Overall though, an enjoyable day on the course.
Good course for the money. Greens aerated but still good to putt
Greens were just aerated but still putts good. Nice course
Simple solution, 12duke. Let the group(s) who are in a hurry play through you. Why should you hold up everybody behind you just because you want a "leisurely" round?
