Another nice day at Mount Elgin
A little cool and windy but a fun time.
Got caught behind a slow foursome and couple, but opened up on back 9.
Greens are wicked
The course is in reasonably good shape. The greens were quick and that was part of the problem. The greens are rounded and sloped. We all found that if we missed the hole the balls would fall off the green. Pin placements made this a problem on probably 6 or 7 holes.
One par 5 has a rediculous dog leg forcing a second shot layup to a small landing area. These types of conditions contribute to slow play and there is no marshal monitoring play.
Too bad, because it could be a nice track. I won't be back.
Very enjoyable round. This course is very picturesque with challenging greens. I would highly recommend to anyone. Staff is very friendly and cooperative.
Gotta Play It
This is a little gem in southwester ontario. Conditions are always great, staff is friendly and the greens are a challenge to any level of player.
don't miss this one
Hey, when you you start off with a 400 yd dogleg with a great view , what could go wrong.--nothing - even if your not a fan of small turtle back greens , you get to enjoy the beauty of the the course for the full, 18. Not a boring flat course- bring balls - greens and course in great shape, yes some of the holes are quirky and you may not score as well- I was 5 shots over my usual round-but our group thoroughly enjoyed course and golf now's great rate--Go play!
New ownership making a difference!
Underappreciated hidden gem. Most of the time you almost have this track to yourself but that is about to change. New ownership are getting the course in great shape! This was especially noticeable on the back nine. A hilly course so you might want a cart on a hot day but the elevation changes make for a fun round. Off the beaten track so you wont have to pay top dollar but worth the drive. Just off the 401. Kitchen menu has been updated as well but I have not tried it yet. Challenging but not punishing.
Very nice
Very nice, picturesque course, in great shape. Very playable. My only negative is the design of the greens. They are very small, severely sloped to the edges, and almost always away from the pin. Landing shy of the flag, the ball comes back and off. Landing long, the ball kicks forward and off. Pinehurst-like.
Like playing the course,,but basically got accused of not paying green fee,,theft ,,after all was cleared up with management, they were in error,,no apologies to our foursome ,,we will not ever play there again,,so keep your receipt when you pay.
Great round with my son
Great morning round and lunch. Course was in good shape. Greens recently aereated but decent. Had a good time with my son.
Enjoyable course. Good value.
Conditions are good, challenge enough on most hole from the right tees for your handicap. The greens although not the fastest roll true and pin locations are where you are most challenged particularly on those with elevation changes.
A nice old school parkland course.
I enjoyed it...again and will return.
Fall Asleep and you're dead
This can be a course you can grip and rip and then your hanging on for dear life.
There are short par 5's here but they are not gimme birdies. The par three's are not easy either averaging 180. The Greens are great to put on. With the drought we are experiencing they are hardening up. But who can't use a few extra yards. We always play here 2 or 3 times a year, because we want to.
Mounting Elgin
Coolish day,but the 11:30 special all in with cart for two for $32 was most acceptable ,a giveaway indeed.
The greens had been sanded and a fellow was blowing off the excess but still poor putting conditions...the fall leaves were well taken care of..but the greens should have been better late October.....all in all a cheap cheerful day on the golf course is better than 2hours watching Dr PHIL..:)
challanging greens
course in very good shape. thick rough..greens were some of the fastest and crowned we played this year. Overall a good challange
OUTSTANDING!!
Treat yourself. Greens were very challenging. Not a long course but because it's quite hilly and greens have lots of break we were challenged to get pars on any hole. We enjoyed this course immensely and will definitely return.
All But the Bunkers
We like the course but their bunkers are ditches! Muddy, hardly no sand and after a rain, usually water in them. It has been like that for the past 2 years and seams it will not change. I have talked to a member before and that is the main complaint of their ownmembers. Other than that, a good long course to play.
Great Course
This course is always in great shape and the owner is very nice. This course will challenge any golfer. What I would like to see is a marshal especially on weekends . It got a little slow on the back nine due to a foursome of very slow golfers which is not necessary . A marshal would help this.
Fast Greens
Very fast greens.Could not get the ball to stick, ran off most times from approach shot.
The course is in excellent condition and is playing very well!
A great time again at Mt. Elgin. No waiting at all for check in - and going through the round. Great time to golf 2:00 PM.
