the course is challenging
a lot of smart play required a lot of sand a lot of lost balls
Nice and interesting course, tricky greens.....
Nice and interesting course. The greens were fairly slow on the day we played but the contour made them tricky to one-putt.... Pace of game was excellent. We finished the game in just over 4 hours (Sunday afternnon).
immaculate conditions always
Our round was following heavy rains. The course drained extremely well. Tee blocks, fairways and greens were all great. Some bunkers lost some sand but probably due to rain. Pace was good.
Only downside was there is no way to grab a drink or snack at the turn now that they have flipped the 9s around. You do not pass the halfway house with this new format. Overall a great place for the money when booked on Golfnow.
fair value
Nothing great, nothing bad. Everything just good enough, nothing bad enough to complain about.
Very nice track
Nice course in good shape . Has a good layout with good looking holes
Very nice course
Good course, excellent value.
Couple concerns, little to no signs between holes to send you in right direction. Saw a few other carts doing the turn around thing to find the next tee.
We golfed early, 7:10am, and did not see any beverage cart at all. It was over 30 degrees and we were are needing some water or gatorade or something. Went to stop at the halfway house but it was not open. Spoke to a marshall, when we finally saw one on hole 14 and he said they dont start until 11 am. Too late for us. On a positive note, the marshall went to the clubhouse and got us all some gatorade so he definetly went out of his way to help.
First time at this course and we will definitely go back but will bring some water.
excellent condition, great value!
short but challenging layout, would recommend for all skill level.
A good course when you get a special price.
The regular price to play here is higher than it should be. The value in my rating was for the "Hot Deal" I had from Golf Now. The rates are about $10-$20 to high.
This is a good target style course with nice contour for this area.
Needs some maintenance
Willow Valley is a moderately challenging course. The layout does not allow for many drivers off the tee. The course was in rough condition and for the current price of $70+ seemed a little much.
A shadow of itself.
Try to get out and play this course once a year. The time of year I find is important especially for the condition of the course especially the greens. They tend to burn and get in rough shape due to all the ball marks. All ready started and they were overwatering the greens making them slow. Spring rates are a little high in my opinion.
Great course payed far too much through golf now
Course was in great shape with friendly staff. Course has a deal on for the month of may but golf now had us paying full price and I'm done with golf now. Loved the golf course
Challenging Huge Greens -
Course in great shape for mid May. They have switched nines around. Greens are huge so need to be on correct level to avoid 3 putts.
A set of tees to challenge all level of player.
Greet pace of play and challenging course for all level of player.
Greens were top dressed on this day and will quicken to their usual speed as the season progresses. The staff were
most accommodating and friendly. I would recommend this course as providing good value for the green fee.
under construction
Course still showing signs of a work in progress, many bunkers considered ground under repair with free lifts, greens not yet to their normal speed, tee boxes not accurate to card, play was fairly quick, clubhouse food and beverage offerings to few, premium price but average value, course conditions need to improve before a return is justified.
Course was in good shape for April
The course was good. Pro shop staff was great. It was a very light day in terms of golfers, so the marshal felt the need to show up on us every other hole. We were told its a 90 degree rule for carts that day by the starter. The marshal was going to kick us off the course when he saw us going 90 degrees on a fairway. I would have given this course 4 stars if it were not for the marshal
Great layout, course conditions leave a little to be desired
Willow Valley is one of my favorite layouts - linksy without many trees, lovely contours and mounding, some dramatic greens and a nice selection of holes.
However, the course doesn't drain well - the last few times I've played here there was standing water on fairways and in bunkers, and carts were restricted to cartpaths. In each case this was surprising in that we hadn't had a great deal of rain beforehand. Also, the course hasn't been maintained as I might have hoped - there were many damaged areas in fairways, bridges were in disrepair, and greens were pretty beat up (it didn't help that greens had been aerated recently). Driving range is unfortunately mats only.
I will return to the course at a discounted rate ($60 or under with cart) , but next time I'l avoid the course after any rain :)
Heavy-handed design
This course punishes missed shots with extremely deep fairway bunkers. It also provides only one shot selection on many holes, with very few greens open to roll a ball on, which is strange for a open "links-type" layout.
Always fun to play
Great design with lots of target holes and two tier greens
Really? A complaint because your poor shot was punished? Maybe you should stick to playing lower slope rated courses like knollwood(both). Golf is punitive. Unfortunate review. The area has a host of alternative courses for you.
