Pick your spot
The course has a few hidden gems where you need to pick your spot to find the pins. So the first time through it is and education and then the second time you can attach the pins. For example when the playing the par 5 for the first time you see three greens and I went for the one on the right but until you walk and/or drive up further you see the signs I was playing the wrong green. No matter was on the wrong fairway and was able to put on in 3 about 20 feet for birdie (didn't make it). Number 2/11 (great message on the rock) and 9/18 are treats with the elevation changes and made pars both times through.
a good challenge
9 hole course with a good variety of tees
greens with extreme undulations making putting very challenging
Great basic course
Greens were in good shape considering how dry it is.Could be better marked on where the next hole is.
Underrated 9 holer
Short but demanding 9 hole course with good terrain and enough interest in tees to make it good for 18. Greens tricky and in good shape.
Always fun here
Napanee is a unique course that is not as easy as it first appears. Greens were a little slower than usual, but that is due to the time of year. They're in the process of creating some new forward tees, so that should make it even more enjoyable for the shorter hitters.
Great little course
It's only a 9 hole course with different tee blocks for the back 9 but for 10$ on golf now you can't beat that price.
Had a great time.
The course was in excellent condition. Specifically the greens were in top shape without any winter damage.Staff was friendly. So it was all worth it. A course to recommend.
Awesome staff!
Staff were super friendly and went out of their way, above and beyond to make us happy!
Grand Daddy still in great shape
I was a member at Napanee 35 years ago . I enjoy seeing how the well placed trees have added difficulty to some tee shots .
Every year the fairways get better with the unlimited water from the Napanee River .
The greens putt great they are very smooth and not bumpy like some courses . They do a great job of having completely different tee boxes for front nine and back 9 on a lot of the holes so it does not feel like you are playing an 9 hole course .
Good luck getting a par on hole number 2 which is a 180 or 200 yard par 3 depending if you are on front 9 or back 9 it is called the shortest par 5 you will ever play if you go right or left of the small 2 tier green there is very little chance of a par .
Don't be afraid to try the course just because it is only 9 holes , the small elevated greens and uneven lies make it a fun round of golf
Great Setting Within a Town
The course was in excellent shape. The greens were especially well maintained. We were unable to complete all 18 holes due to a tournament. The manager gave each of us a free green fee for 9 holes to compensate.
Deceptively Difficult
This wonderful old course dating from the 19th c is full of character, charm, and challenge. Not long on the scorecard, the course is still a good test for any golfer. I think that the course rating and the slope factor are significantly lower than they should be. I doubt that many will play to their handicap on this course. I don't. Significant hills and valleys in the fairways and significant slopes and level changes on the greens mean that picking the right landing spot on each is important. Holding the greens in regulation requires a good shot with the right club. The greens roll true and they are very fast; they must stimp at 10+ in the summer. Balls above the hole can easily end up twice as far from the hole if you miss the putt. On several holes, missing the green on the wrong side with your approach shot almost guarantees bogey. Good golf earns good scores; bad golf earns the world of hurt that is peculiar to it. This 9-hole course has ten holes, and significantly different tee-box locations for the second-time round make for a good 18-hole feel. I love this venerable old course with its mature trees and interesting history. The atmosphere in the pro shop and clubhouse is relaxed and friendly.
very challenging course for myself
course in great shape person in pro shop couldn't figure out how we got tee time at 821 am as only reserved for members but was very accomadating
Interesting 9 Holer
They are making good use of the space they have to create variety when playing 18 holes by giving different lengths and angles on most holes. I am generally not a fan of trees in the fairway and this course has several holes with this feature. However, on a short course such as this, it seems to work OK. The fairways have a lot of dips and bumps. The 9/18th hole is very difficult as it is quite long par 4, is uphill and has a near vertical bank of about 10 feet about 40 yards short of the green. I could never hit over that bank to reach the green in 2 on my best day so par can only be made by getting up and down with a blind shot from 50+ yds. Not, I would say, a fair hole.
Another different thing about this course is the red tees are the longest yardage.
Napanee
Great 9 hole course. Challenging with lots of hills, trees and just enough water. Very friendly staff and great value for the money. I can't wait to go back!
Good Fun
Course is being very well kept despite fall conditions.
Always in top condition
Every year I play here the conditions of the course is in excellent shape (although the traps sometimes don't seem to drain well).
Beautiful Course
We thoroughly enjoyed the round. Everyone was very friendly and very welcoming.
Great bang for your buck
While Napanee is a 9 hole course. The variation in tees and even two greens for a par five make it an interesting challenge. Sam Snead holds the course record, which is apart of the course's interesting history. The price is right and the greens are fast. It's definitely a course worth playing.
Tees can be very confusing
It was a clear but hot and humid day. There was no waiting since there wasn't many people out at the time. When we stopped at 2Pm for a break the kitchen was closed. We managed to get a couple of drinks. Course is very up and down. Greens were very fast. Tees can be very confusing since this is essentially a 9 hole course with 2 sets of tees - one for the front nine and another set for the back nine.
Nice little course
Played 18 at this course yesterday. It's a short course, only requiring driver on a couple holes at most.
The course is only 9 holes but they have different tee boxes for most holes and a separate green for one of the par 5s.
Overall its nice course that is well maintained.
