Sunday golf

course was in good shape. We followed a twosome man/women each wearing flip flops and seemingly arguing most of the time or on cell phone. not to sure what the rules are but flip flops and a black heavy metal tee shirt doesn't sound like proper attire to me.

Cut your greens

Greens were terrible due to no cutting. It was like putting on a shaggy carpet. Typical Golf Nortb destroying at one time great courses one at a time!

Wasted Potential

The course has a fantastic layout and design but poor conditions bring the experience way down.

Pros:
-fun layout with six par 3s, 4s, and 5s each
-greens role consistent
-friendly proshop and restaurant staff
-mature trees that shape holes and come into play

Cons:
-long rounds. Be prepared for a 4h 40m+ foursome. Tee times are only 8m apart and the first hole is a short par 4 leading to an immediate backlog of groups. Multiple times I have been in a group that leaves because of the pace of play
-poor course conditions. This factor is what forces me to rate it 2 stars. Yes, the course is green and appears nice as the weather has been near perfect this summer. However, everything is rock hard: tee decks, fairways, rough, greens, and bunkers. The fairway grass is thin, this is a huge drawback. Nearly every ball on a fairway will have an unfortunate lie because of the thin grass and rock hard ground below. Difficult to play for those that strike the ball and take a divot. There are frequent patches of rough that have just become matted dirt because no effort had been made to maintain course conditions. This is unfortunate because these dirt patches can frequently be near the greens. You're likely to have multiple shots where you only miss a fairway or green by a couple of yards and end up sitting on a rock hard patch of dirt instead of grass
-bunkers. Unfortunately, you'd be hard pressed to find a single bunker with at least 1/2 an inch of dirt. The majority of bunkers are extremely thin making them near impossible to actually play bunker shots. Filled with dirt, not sand. You will also find a handful of bunkers with large rocks and stones you'll have to remove before playing a shot. Poor bunkers are noticeable as there are bunkers on at least 13 holes so they do come into play.
-tee boxes. A calling card of a low end GN course are the tee box conditions. It seems like these tee decks have never been rolled. Tough to find a flat lie on most tee boxes, it's definitely noticeable. Also, some of the tee decks are completely unplayable as the grass is thin or nonexistant (par 3 5th is "under repair" this year but you still play off the box where it is nothing but dirt everywhere, no grass to hit your tee shot off of. This is not an overexaggeration)
-Marshalls. The marshalls that check you in are good and make sure groups tee off on time. However, on the course the older marshalls drive around and never stop to check in or advise groups to pick up the pace, etc. They can be spotted driving the cart and never stopping, unfortunately.
-pin placement. The greens are in decent condition and role pretty pure but they can become extremely difficult as a result poor pin locations. I understand difficulty and mixing things up however multiple times this year they have been placed in spots that don't even make the holes enjoyable because every hole is 3ft from the fringe, no matter the location. Every. Hole. It seemed like a joke these past 2 weeks and took away from the round. I should have taken pictures but can't believe that they placed the flags that close to the fringe on nearly every hole recently.

Anytime I've played with an older local they rave about how Dundee was THE club prior to GN taking over. It's easy to see how this could be true as the design and terrain is there for a beautiful course. There is so much potential but the course conditions truly take away from how nice it could be. The foundation is there but money needs to be put into the course conditions.

Middle of the Road

Played Dundee CC this past weekend for the first time. Overall, an okay experience. THE GOOD: On the short side, but nice variety of holes with character. Uphill par 5 12th and long tough par 3 15th were memorable. Fairways were nice. Small, interesting greens that rolled well and were in great condition. THE BAD: Tee times were already 20 minutes behind at 11:00am.
Tight layout with lots of close calls during the round from other fairways and tees. Not much sand in many of the bunkers, just hard packed dirt. Tees had not been cut for several days. I hate to say this but I am not surprised at the level of course maintenance given that it's a GolfNorth property. Have seen the same at many of their other courses, but I do have to give them credit with the greens. All in all, an okay course; fun to play but it's not on my repeat list.

Just Bad

Made it out at 2:24 pm expecting to get at least 13 holes in. 3 hours later the pace was so slow the marshal was driving out telling us on the 7th hole we only had 30 minutes left to play. I paid for 18, $73.00, but only played 9 holes. Marshal was non-existent, otherthan to drive by and see two foursomes and a twosome all on one hole with another foursomes on deck. Needless to say, if I'm going to play anywhere in the area in turn near future, New Dundee will be one of the last choices on my list.

Poor power cart and course maintenance

The jerkiness of the power cart gave me a sore back and next. No matter how easily you stepped on the gas, the cart would jerk forward when it started up.

The course maintenance was substandard for the price of the green fees and the cost of the cart

The pace of play was extremely slow ( 45 minutes to play 1 1/2 holes )

I will not play this course again

15 min late from tee off. Pace slow because of perfect golf weather . Only got 11 holes in before dark. Still charging full fare for round and carts when it would have been impossible to complete rhe round before dark.

A lot of fun

The course is very fun to play. Not very long, lots of interesting holes. The greens are the defence here. If you are above the hole, you may just put right off the green

Didn't bother to call or email our group driving in from Brantford there was a 2 hour frost delay. Pretty much ruining everyone's day. Very disappointing.

Carts too costly

I like the course, always have. However the owners; Golf North are charging an inflated rate for single rider in power cart. Therefore did not really get great deal overall. Not a reflection on Golfnow, just venting to someone. Thanks
