Oaklands Golf Club boasts a versatile layout that is gentle enough for beginners while still offering a fair amount of challenge for more advanced golfers. The fairways are mostly narrow and water comes into play on a few holes. The signature hole is the par-3 11th, which requires a skillful shot through a narrow opening with trees along the left side and a steep grade to the right. The severely sloped green is surrounded by trees and protected by a tricky sand trap. The most difficult hole on the course though, is the par-3 second. This hole has an elevated tee with an out-of-bounds to the right and a sand bunker that guards most of the front portion of the small, raised green, which is also lined with trees on both sides.

Oaklands golf course
This course is bar none, the worst in Niagara Falls.
The carts are 20 years old, in terrible condition.
The straps are so frayed your bag drops out on the course. The fairways and greens are the worst I have ever played on. Had to play lift clean and place because the uneven growth and weeds throughout the fairways. The maintenance crew has no idea how to maintain a course.
Do yourself a favour for 40$ plus. For 18, there is about 20 in the region roughly same price that are in much better shape. I.e rolling meadows, Icc, Nfgc. Inexpensive but in good shape even considering the dry spell we've had this summer.
Thanks for reading.
Fun times
Easy going staff make visit to Oaklands enjoyable.
it is what it is
being so dry lately the will run out, they try their best .. and for the price , I'll go back anytime
Whither blister burn and peel.
The greens and tees were in reasonable condition given the fact that there hasn't been any rain for a month. Fairways were burned beyond recognition but that's to be expected with the drought we are in.
They have done a good job watering and maintaining greens and tees.
Overall great bargain for the money. Enjoyable round.
Groundskeepers need better etiquette
Decent course to play at a good pace, and was in fairly good condition, however the grounds staff could be way more thoughtful and courteous. There were numerous times that I had to wait for a safe time to tee off due to a riding lawnmower circling the tee box, and the green. I am used to where they would pause and wave for you to hit. The worst was after I teed off on a par 3, i had to wait to hit my second shot as I had a golf cart park between my ball and the hole, while 2 grounds people could cut a new hole location, instead of waiting till I finished the hole...rediculous etiquette.
Parking Lot
Course is as hard as a parking lot! Although for a cheap hot deal its ok
good value
greens were very good
very good value &17 with cart
Getting better last couple of years
I've been playing Oaklands for over three decades and seen lots of ownership changes. This most recent owner has put some care back into the course. They 've Maintained these 18 holes a great deal better than past couple owners. With a good staff and reasonable green fees. I will remain loyal to this golf course for years to come.
Great DAy to Play Golf
Booked the tee time from Toronto, left early arrived one hour late due to 14 car pile up, and two other accidents on the west bound highway. Thank Goodness they were wonderful when I arrived. No problem pick up a cart and go. Its a busy course on Mondays, many regular players. Loved the course first time playing, The Chippewa river is part of the landscape you need to stay in the fairway for this golf course. First time view of a large snapping turtle. enjoyed the challenge and understand why the guys play here regularly.
Needs some TLC
Got a hot deal for my 4-some from Golfnow. Under $17/player with a cart. After playing the course I understand why. They were aerating several greens but that was not noted on the web site when booking.
The entire course is in dire need of watering and a lot of TLC
The fairways were hard as concrete and the cart paths were full of craters. A bit of gravel and some care would go a long way here. A lot staff (kids) seemingly working around the course but not much evidence of their efforts.
Had we paid full green fees I would have been extremely disappointed and asked for money back!
Disappointed -Neglect
I guess I had high hopes for this course. I was very disappointed.
Example- I played at 10 am and I get to the first green and it is wet with dew. No one went out to cut or whip the water off of the surface.
No water in some of the ball washers.
Fairways are, well, hard and bumpy and cement like
I could hardly put a tee on All of the tee blocks. Cement, again
If you go play here just don't expect a well taken care of course.
Neglect is the word I have for this course.
never again!
The condition of this course is dismal. I will never play this course again! Apart from the greens, the course was in terrible condition. The golf carts are so worn out, with ripped seats and securing straps were all frayed I was always checking I hadn't lost my bag. Sorry guys, but you will have to try harder to get golfers to come to your course.
good course for average golfer
wide fairways and very little rough make it playable for most golfers . greens were in great shape , but too many bumps off fairways . biggest problem was the map showing course to be north of highway 420 rather than south and on the west side of stanley not east !!!
Howie Kamen
Had a so so front and a pretty good back. I enjoyed the course very much, excellent greens
Did you play 9 holes?
Where's the Q.
Did you play 18 holes?
Not worth playing
Fairways were in very bad condition. It feels like you are travelling over the rocky mountains, lots of muddy patches.Looks like there is absolutely no attempt made to make this better. Surprisingly the greens were it not too bad condition. Also some of the carts do not have a working parking brake. Not a course we will go to again.
Simple golf course
Oaklands is a simple course for beginners, juniors, seniors and mid to high handicapers. The course is flat and easy to walk.
The course plays short on most holes, with par 5's reachable in two and a couple of drivable par 4's even for average length hitters.
If you are looking for an inexpensive and quick 18, then Oaklands is a good place to play.
mr
Very bad course condition.
The green is poorly maintained.
The fairway is in bad shape.
value for $
I have been past this course before and was interested in trying it. The course is perfect for a high handicapper as not too much trouble. The course was firm due to lack of moisture. Greens were very average in shape and speed. Preferred the back nine to the front nine.
needs work
I played this course last year, and was pleasantly surprised. the back 9 is beautiful, the front is short and kind of boring...This year when we played this, the course was in bad shape.....greens were spotty and slow, rough was not cut, traps were un groomed. pick another course...if you want to take your kid to teach them golf, oaklands would be a good bet
