Not worth the $
This is a great course, however, given the bunkers current state, the cost is too high. Course was in pretty decent shape though and staff were awesome.
Great course, but…
Course itself is in great shape other than the bunkers. Significant weeds and rocks in the fairway bunkers which does not seem to get fixed. Other than the bunkers, fantastic course.
Excellent Course
Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. Will definitely look forward to playing again soon.
Reliably atrocious customer experience
The layout and turf conditions are good, that’s where it ends. Central reservation system keeps golfers from being able to contact the course so you never know what you’re walking into. The practice range seems to be closed as much as it’s open…total blind roll of the dice and a 30-minute roundtrip drive from Collingwood to find out. Once there, the best one can hope for from customer-facing staff is indifference, with a good chance of catching some attitude from someone who wishes they weren’t working there. Today, was overcharged at point of sale vs. reservation rate. 35 degree heat, but no water on course, and person whose job it is to sell drinks, apparently called-in sick (okay, that can happen I guess, but walkers were not given a courtesy heads-up to load-up on water or risk perishing). Upon pointing this problem out afterwards, Course Marshall said he “thought about” taking water to struggling golfers, but, uh, apparently, thought better of it…( too much hassle…?… course did not appear to be overrun / busy…). $70 is way too much to charge someone to walk 18 holes on a weekday on a course with weeds in the bunkers all while being treated like an annoyance and nearly dying of thirst. I’d recommend GN/management start paying attention to the basic details and the concept of “hospitality” and maybe the place could win enough happy repeat customers to fix the sand traps and pull the course out of its death spiral. Even if it does, I might have finally had my fill today.
Bunkers
Too bad the bunkers are catastrophic…. The rest of the course immaculate!!! We choose to drop out of the bunkers, no closer to hole, win some lose some…. Is what it is….
Well maintained course
I've been here a few times now. Nice, clean and well maintained golf course. Staff are pleasant. Not sure why all the negative reviews.
Dusty Course
My wife and I played this course on June 2, 2021 with friends of ours.
The weather was perfect, the pace of play was great, staff was friendly. However if you don't mind eating dust all during your round, and having to eat dust on and edibles that you may have with you, then this course is for you. The cart path was ridiculously dusty and therefore took a lot of enjoyment out of an otherwise great day for golf.
There must be something that management can do to keep down on the dust.
I have played this course several time before but never remember it to be so dusty.
Have. Been golfing Batteaux for seven years, this year 25 times. Unfortunately due to Covid and many Toronto residents working from home at their Collingwood residences have packed the coarse. Unfortunately my long time golf partner and myself have been paired with strangers that are hitting from the blues when it should be the yellows and we find a Marshall telling us we have to speed it up due to the inept twosome that they paired us with.
November 9 golf? Nice day but course conditions not great!
Greens were punched pretty much unputtable......fairways not great rough not maintained. Expensive for what you get with the poor course conditions.........$75 plus taxes with a cart. I guess the maintenance crew has packed it in for the season. Staff not overly friendly but ok. I think they have had enough for the season. And it was cart path only & everything was quite dry makes no sense. Seems like they are trying to squeeze every red penny out of the season the value for the money is not there. It was a $40 course with cart today maybe. Not the course it used to be since was taking over by Golf North. Unfortunately a little disappointing.
Nice course worth to come back
Surprised
The staff in the course are super. However the superintendent needs some work. The last time I booked a round Of 18 holes I reached the course and was told the superintendent was only allowing 9 holes Even though I had paid for 18 and there was plenty of sunlight left. No compensation was offered. This time I booked to a round of 18 for my 2 sons and I. Upon reaching the course With an hour to spare I was told the driving range was closed and I could not book until 15 minutes before Tee time. I came back to pay 15 minutes before tea time and was told the superintendent was not allowing power carts on the course not even cart path only. I reminded them of my disability but no exception was made. I wonder if the owner knows what's going on?
