Maintenance
I’ve played this course since I started golfing. The course in the past was maintained consistently, but since the new owners have taken over course, maintenance has declined. t boxes are in poor shape. And some greens are in very poor shape. not to mention the price has doubled since the new owners took over, double the price less maintenance. (come on owner have some pride in your course.!)
Great course in it's day - Cart paths need to be replaced & a few greens were a little rough but over all a very pleasant round.
Deeply disappointed!
This course used to be one of the hidden gems in GTA, providing very scenic views of valley and nature at its best. We have been playing at this course for past 3 years or so and have always looked forward for a great round of golf here. However, this year – our first round at Hockley, was one of the worst experiences we have had playing on Canada day weekend. We noted the tee boxes and greens to be in terrible conditions. Some greens were mowed to the point where soil was exposed as patches of mud; fairways had to lot of sections with burnt and dried grass; few bunkers were hard with stones, pebbles. Looks like the cart paths are under construction but there’s no signage reflecting any on-going maintenance, making it dangerous in some hilly areas.
From a price point, they charging comparable to a high end course; however, in my opinion and based on our recent experiences, there are other options along Hwy 9 / Mono area, which are significantly better than Hockley.
Challenging course
This is a very nice course in good condition. There are quite a few elevation changes (elevated tees to low greens and fairways. This makes the course very scenic and challenging). We also had groups in front or behind us until we were on hole 17. What a treat!! Very enjoyable!!!
Hockley Review
Lots of burnt sections on fairways and green. Some tee blocks in dismal condition. Front 9 was painfully slow, and no marshall in sight.
Bunkers new lots of work .
Good conditions except for the bunkers .
Wet , mud pack and stones , unplayable !
Early tee off the reason for good pace of play this day .
I have played here before over the years and will return .
Very close to approach landing aircraft . Nice to see how close .
Mosquitoes are starting stay out of the bush.
Course is not well kept
Lot of weeds for a golf course. Cart paths are in bad condition. With the steep hills if you brake too hard you may put yourself in danger.
Slow pace
In front of us was 6 friends that was supposed to be a group of 2 and 4 however all 6 tee off at the same time. Most of the time they played as 6. For my group the rounds was 6 hours. Disappointing that the starter and marshall did not inforce the course rules.
What happened…
It looks like this ‘resort style’ course was neatly built into the valley terrain and then something happened…. Resort abandoned the course? Switched to a good focused menu? Tried to go upscale and failed as the course conditions and amenities are below par (and I don’t mean that in a good way). If I paid half the price, I would still not be motivated to come back.
