nice course
We have played the course many times over the years and have enjoyed the
experience. This time the course was aerated with gravel used as a filler and
putting was very very unpleasant. Because of the green conditions we should
have been told about aeration and that the greens were wretched and given a discounted rate to play. There were no sand in the bottles to repair golf
shot divots and the course desperately needed sand to repair as we saw thousands
of divots needing work. The sand bunkers had staff cleaning out the weeds which is a
nice gesture but when done the job they left the 100 footprints without raking after themselves. We could see the imprints from the pails they used to clean up the weeds.
Overall for May 1 the experience sucked.
It's Better
The last 4 times I played here this year the traps hadn't been redone. They are now and they're working at paving the cart paths.
I wish I lived closer
I've played this course for the first time this year and went back 5 times because I really like it. It's very challenging but a long drive from my home. I'll be back.
Most Challenging Course I've Played!
First of all, I would like to clarify my "Average" rating of course amenities. Golfing at this time of year locally is VERY rare. It is typically colder than a mother-in-law's kiss at this time of year. As such, Otter Creek (southern Ontario, Canada) was no doubt well into their winterizing program. This meant off-course amenities were not practical (there were a total of three vehicles in the expansive parking area).
They had also removed most of the signage on the course. This course is long/diverse. Without the signage we got turned around and had to ask the maintenance crews for directions...twice! I'm confident this is NOT something you will encounter within the regular season. We were truly blessed to even get on at this time of year!
This is not a course for the "weak of heart"! I'm not a low handicap golfer so the challenges were many and varied. I LOVED it!!! This course will assuredly test the low handicap golfer in that you must be able to hit reasonably long AND accurately. I am very much looking forward to playing it again when I don't have to wear insulated underwear, a toque and a heavy sweater! This course could very well be my absolute favourite even if it was a 1 one drive (we are surrounded by courses in close proximity). This course compares favourably with some of the better courses in Arizona! It beat me up and left me for dead. ...can't wait to return!!!!
We’ll Done
Keep up the improvements !!
Lots of white Ohio sand, love it !!
Too bad season is almost over 🙁
Its improving.
The grounds crew are working hard to get the bunkers playable. They've put new sand in some bunkers and puting dirt and grass seed in others. Overall the changes will be great for the course in the spring.
Impossible course in poor condition - stay away
A huge disappointment. Narrow fairways with fescue on edges making slightly offline balls impossible to find. Layout requires heroic carries over ravines. ( for example 190 yard 2nd shot from edge of ravinecto csrry. Traps in awful shape with weeds growing out off mud. Expensive and poor value.
Excellent Value
Excellent value for a course that can compete with the likes of copetown and monthill. I've played much lower tier courses for more money thanks to the Golfnow deal.
What a treat
What a treat! Otter Creek is fair but challenges every club in the bag. Every hole is different and picturesque. What a beautiful property.
great course in recovery
I love this course as the layout was challenging and the maintence was top notch. The course sufferred from lack of laobors during pandemic. I play this week just to check out the progress: the bunker work is still in progress. Hole 12 is closed; Hole 9 has been turned to 2 Par-3 holes, still challenging.
The fairway is in OK shape as many divots are not repaired. The greens are firm, fast and rolling true.
The new ( are they new? I can't recall) carts are beautiful with USB charging for your phones.
A good challenge
Good course to challenge yourself with. Couple holes really make you commit to certain shots, felt like I played almost every club in my bag.
Nice golf course
Very nice golf course in great condition. The group behind us were very unruly, did not understand the rule of golf. On hole number 4 one of them actually teed up when we were still on the green and nearly hit me, luckily it ended in the bunker. We corrected the ignorant golfer to go and read the rule of golf. I drew the attention of the ranger to the unacceptable golf etiquette of the group . I did not enjoy my game yesterday because I had a few issues with my eyes, I played below my standard. I will play the course again when am better hopefully before the end of the golf season.
Bunker'd
Course revamping the bunkers on course. Ninth hole turned into two par threes and hole 14 was unplayable while they did the bunker overhaul.
Otherwise a course and a half for golf enthusiasts
Always a beautiful round.
This is an absolutely beautiful course with a very interesting and challenging layout. Currently there is a massive effort underway to fix and or eliminate bunkers, so they are a bit of a mess at the moment, but the changes will greatly improve the course.
I play here as often as possible but being retired, I have to catch opportunities when there is a bargain price.
Definitely my favourite course in the area.
Thanks for your comment, we are sorry you didn't have a good experience at Otter Creek. Mother Nature as I'm sure you are aware of has not been kind to anyone this spring. The aeration you speak of was from last November thus the fact the staff didn't warn you, it's not our intent to mislead any of our patrons. The so called gravel you speak of is actually a rock phosphate fertilizer and turkey compost .. unfortunately the weather conditions to date have not been conducive to fantastic growth thus we still see the aeration holes and the fertilizer is not being covered in the turf canopy. Not much we can do about that situation as we are at the mercy of the weather. As for your comment regarding the sand bottles and divots we are awaiting our spring load of compost to fill these bottles ... we agree with you that there are many divots that are in need of repair .. these are the remnants of last seasons play and cannot be blamed on anyone except your fellow golfers that fail to replace and repair as they play. Our student workforce has just arrived and we're in the process of preparing our bunkers for the season. We appreciate your comments but you must understand that we are very early in the golf season and as such the conditions are spring conditions and should not be used as any comparison to our normal in season conditions. We are sorry you perceive our conditions as "sucking" but our calendar here states spring and we are lucky to be open and playing golf. Lets keep things in perspective for the weather we've had to date. Our rates at the moment are reflective of the spring and are discounted as such. Thanks again for your comments and we trust you will return and enjoy the conditions you are used to at Otter Creek
