waiting for a cart
everything was good but waited an hour past are tee time for a cart, just finished the the last hole as it was getting dark just barely saw the ball. the problem was there was a six-some three groups a head of us which consisted of three woman and three man, five of them never played before.
Course was very dry, lots of spots we were hitting off hard ground. Could use a lot more watering. Pretty course and some challenging holes
50/50
Course layout good. Staff friendly. Front 9 fairways hard and dry, greens ok. Ist par 3 under repair . Back 9 significantly better. Fairways are mostly in good shape, greens are generally good.
The greens were in good shape....
Aside from some of the greens just having been verticut, the majority of them were in good shape.
The rest of the course was simply beat up and well maintained. For example, some bunkers had been left to grow over.
Where are all the carts?
Three of the four were over 75 and we couldn’t get a cart. I would be embarrassed if I was running this golf course. I see from other reviews that this is a chronic issue. I will not be returning because of this.
Good day had by all
Solid short course. Knowing your yardages is huge as placement into your approach shots is key on this tight layout. Some bare lies in the fairway and conditions could be better but c'mon its 2020 not in terrible shape overall. 77/100 would certainly recommend for the price. .
Nice scenic layout. Challenging and interesting holes. Fairways had many dry spots. Greens were in repair mode. This course will rate much higher when in good condition.
green repair no advance notice
enjoyed the course, staff , layout, however, when we got to the 3rd hole we find that all of the greens were being worked on. they utilized a machiine that cut angle cuts in both straight lines and contour lines over the entire round. putting became a joke and our group ended up
just scoring any green as a 2 putt.
I can appreciate that course maintenance is essential, however, advance notice at time of booking or at least prior to starting a round would have been advisable.
We would have opted to play elsewhere had we known the greens condition
My go to Course
I have been playing the Oaks every second week this summer with our group and we have always have a good time!!
The layout is challenging / rewarding for all levels of golfers.
The course is always in great shape and the staff are always friendly.
So Disappointing
I've played the Oaks a number of times over the years and always found it a joy to play. Sadly, that is no longer the case. It appears the maintenance budget is close to zero. Many of the fairways have significant bare spots or are weed infested. Our group played preferred lies on the fairway on a summer day because of the conditioning. A number of the greens have huge dead areas. Again, our group repositioned balls on the green in order to attempt putts that didn't go over dead areas. Unfortunately, we won't be back - the course that once was a public course gem has ceased to exist..
