Average
So the course was not bad. Couple of things though. Very dry. Tee boxes were tough just putting tee into the ground. Fairways were hard, too dry. Putting greens were ok. Also, I am pretty sure it was overbooked, again. Two times I played, both times didn’t finish, and we started around 4. Overall it was just ok, but could’ve and should’ve been better.
Great layout, challenging, fun, golf.
Very pretty place, lots of different ways to get around the course; it will take all your attention to score well. All told, a fun day,
Beautiful but challenging
The course is well maintained and fairways n greens in good condition. Not an easy course particularly the greens, very fast and undulating so local knowledge is important. Pace a little slow as sometimes players need to find the balls. May take four and a half to five hours for a foursome. The scenery is beautiful and enjoyable to play in such environment. Staff very friendly n polite and Marshall also doing a good job.
Same old Cherry Downs
Having not played Cherry Downs in years I was pleasantly surprised to find little change. Great traditional challenging layout and as always (especially given our dry season) playing hard and fast...Still among the most challenging and speedy greens in the GTA.
Two significant areas of concern. First , the tee blocks are rock hard (as in give me a hammer so I can use a tee) and they are also very unkept (long grass and/ or bare spots). Secondly, the Sand traps are great in terms of having plenty of good quality sand in them, but nobody seems to raking or attending to them...maybe this second concern is more on the players, but we were out in the early morning and all of them seemed disheveled with days of unattended play.
All in all, especially, given that our group scored a reduced rate on a GolfNow Hot Deal, a great day on a great old course
Slow play
Players ahead of us had no regard to those behind them by takin* way too long. There were no people ahead of them so they were not held up.
The Marshall talked to the and asked them to move on hole ahead which worked for a while but we soon caught up to them again.
People who are just learning should not be on a course until they know how to play.
