2 Things to Know
1. No balls in the forest, pretty sure they search and use them as range balls.
2. Very tight, you will probably lose lots of balls
Early season golf
I usually play North Granite Ridge a couple of times every year. The conditions were not as good as I remember in the past although I’m sure it’s due to a dry spell and also covid closure of early season.
Otherwise it was a pleasant round. The bugs weren’t so bad for most of the day which is a relief this time of year.
Overall it’s a good value for money place to play relative to other courses in the area. However, be aware. This is not the course to inflate your ego. It’s very narrow and balls are easily lost if you don’t keep the ball on the fairway.
North Granite Ridge
It's always a great day at North Granite Ridge or " the Ridge " as we call it. We started our round with some friendly chat with the starter a very nice gentleman that knows his hockey :) he told us about the course rules and offered some tips.
We teed it up and noticed that as it is in many places things were very dry but all in all the conditions were awesome with only 1 hole being aerated the rest of the greens were true as usual. If you like a course that has a beautiful lay out where you don't often see the next holes you will play. One that's challenging yet rewards you when you hit a good shot and is staffed by people that love the game and that make you feel like they're really glad to see you then come to " the Ridge"
North Granite Ridge. Even if you don't come with your best game you'll leave with the best memories of the many beautiful vistas and the great time spent with your family or friends. And if your really lucky maybe those memories will include some great shots too. Have a great time it's a course you'll remember.
Beware of low lying fence above the fairway trap on the 7 th hole!!
Beware of a Low Fence intended to keep carts from entering on the upper side of a sandtrap on the 7 th hole!! I was looking for my ball and took a very hard face-plant into the hard terrain. I am being treated in hospital for stitches above ny eye( estimated to need 4).
The golf club was kind enough to give me and my wife a rain check for another day.
Play every year
A group of six Southern Ontario seniors make a trip North for a week of golf every year. We make it a point to play North Granite Ridge every year. It is one of our favourite courses. We will be playing it again the first week of June 2022.
Absolutely stunning I wish I had time to finish my round
Absolutely stunning right now with the fall colours. I am very new to golf and thoroughly love the challenge of hitting the fairway on this course as my slice/fade needs work. It was extremely well kept. The greens are playing well for average golfers, not too quick not too slow very nice pace there.
The staff is always extremely nice, and it’s a very friendly place to play very scenic tons of wildlife!
Unfortunately they were extremely overbooked today and by the 12th whole there were almost 3 groups at every hole. If I wanted to wait 20 minutes per shot I could have tried to sneak a few in but unfortunately I got no where near playing my round which was such a bummer as I was having a blast especially since every hole right now looked so great with it being peak fall season. Just a beauty!!!!
If this is the usual for pace of play and overbookings I can’t say I would be into 5-5.5 hr rounds as I don’t like sitting around for so long between every shot, as I left when there were 2 groups waiting to tee off the 13th with a 3rd group ahead of them in the fairway, as I would have been #4.
Fix that and I’m game whenever at all times just a beauty!, golfs too expensive not to get your round lol!!!! Thank you
