Friendly course, great for practicing at the right price
I was going to go to the driving range, but figured for an extra 10 dollars I would play 18. Not a lot of long holes, as I believe there was only 4 or 5 par 4s and 1 par 5. Allowed me to work on my short game without worrying about being bullied by a tough course. The greens were in rough shape, but it is still early in the season so it is understandable. If you can get the $26 dollar rate on Golfnow, this course is a great value. I paid an extra $14 for a cart, and the staff were fine, some kids working a part time job. Would recommend for anyone who wants to get out for a quick round, get some practice in and loosen up.
Good Course, need to improve the greens before opening for the season!
Challenging Executive course,; however, the green were in very poor conditions.
If you are going to open for the season just make sure that your green are in good shape, or if you have areas that are bad please place the pins in locations were the ball does not jump 22 times before reaching the hole.
Besides that enjoyable golfing experience.
Very good course for beginners
I was taking my teenage son for his first round EVER, this is a good course to break them in. As can be expected from a par 63 course there are lots of par 3's, but the good news is they're pretty standard - 150 to 160 yards on average.
The fairways were not in good shape - very dry and hard but that can be expected after this summer - bunkers needed work, and the greens had been aerated so they were still covered with sand. I wasn't expecting Glen Abbey though, and for the price it's a good deal and a great place to learn and/or work on your short game while still being able to pull out the driver on a few holes.
The finishing hole (18) is a nice par 5.
Need to water their course
Good beginner's course. However more 1/2 the greens were chewed up and had sand on them from aeration.
Poor Experience
Was expecting a great round at Bathurst Glen with a friend who had never played it before. Unfortunately will be our last time. Who I presume was the course manager was extremely rude to my friend who checked in two minutes late to our tee-time. In addition, the starter was extremely rude by explaining how we should pay a late-fee and be pushed to the back of the line (since we were 5 minutes late to our time) because "that's what they do at other courses" (his direct words). We did not appreciate the comparison to other courses since I have never had an issue at BG before, we did not appreciate his condescending tone, and we did not appreciate the comparison considering we were not at the other courses he kept referencing. This same marshall went on to criticize our pace of play on the 16th hole even though we were currently playing under 3 hours. I commend the cashier who checked us in as he was a very pleasant and kind gentleman. Perhaps just giving a heads up to golfers that they may have to pay a fine if they are late, instead of coming across as rude and harsh would be a better option for the staff. Course is good for time if you need a quick round, but overall, your money is better-spent elsewhere.
Under Construction
The course was in excellent shape and the staff were helpful and accommodating. Unfortunately someone chose this time to reseed and aerate 4 of the greens at once. As a result 4 of the holes had no greens and we're virtually unplayable. Other than that the course played well.
Manage the first Hole, please !
Biggest problem here is the pace of play. Staff is great but don't do anything to mitigate pace by allowing singles to go off back to back with a 2some in front of them also ???
A lot of seniors play here which actually is not the problem, it is the starter allowing singles to play one time slot while the other single is waiting to tee of right behind them ...what?
Then there are those marshals who drive in front of tee shots or parked and looking for balls in the long grasses !!
Then the hot shot single who plays thru without asking because his time is more important than everyone else.
Everyone should be able to enjoy a round whether it's a cheap one or a more costly one. I blame the course for not managing the first hole.
Of course I still play once in awhile, because it's close and I generally try to get off early. But, it's only at best a $40.00 course not $50.00 with cart.
I bring beginners and teach them the etiquette of golf buy pointing out what others are doing wrong, which is easy to find on this course.
Hot golf
It was hot day
And it was good golf course
bathurst glen delight
If there were more courses like Bathurst Glen, golf would find a resurge with public support of this great sport.
Never again
Awful course, awful condition. Jammed full of golfers, took forever to finish. Made me want to quit golf!!! Staff were great but suggest new management. Cours s like this should be turned into homes.
Watch out.
Right off the get go it was a pretty poor experience. I had a tee-time booked for 2 at 11:56. My friend and I arrived on time, however, when we go there it was obvious that they had over booked. The line up at the starter must have been four groups long, with many of them foursomes. The people in front of us said they had a tee-time at 12:20, yet they teed off before us for some odd reason. It would have made sense for my group of two to tee-off first as we were driving, and overall better players than the two in front of us who were elderly and walking. Generally, I wouldn't mind, and everybody has their own pace of play, which is fine, but course etiquette has to come into play at some point. It took us nearly 3 hours to play the front nine which included the majority of holes as par threes.
Secondly, the staff. The starter at the beginning of the day, though friendly, clearly lost control of the start times and the groups. However, it was when we finally finished the front nine when things got hairy. We pulled up to the tenth tee, and I'll add at this point that we were the last group to tee off before a summer camp, so there wasn't a group behind us. I got out of the cart to get some refreshments from the clubhouse as there was no beverage cart going around the course. I go in and place an order, the woman said it would be a couple of minutes, so I should take the drinks to the cart and go back and get the food. When I did this the starter (who was different than the one in the morning) shouted at me and told me I was holding up play by going back and forth, even though there was nobody behind me. Said I was the one with no etiquette, which I found ironic.
All in all, it was an atrocious experience. The course was poorly maintained. There mustn't be a sprinkler system as the ground, from fairway to rough, and everything inbetween was rock hard. I won't be golfing at this course again, and I would suggest nobody else does either.
Horrible & Cheap Golf Course
I only have two things to points to emphasize:
1) You pay for what you get
2) If you don't have anything good to say, then don't say anything.
Great golf course for beginners
I am a beginner golfer, we played with my husband who is a very experienced golfer. This was a good course to play together despite our very different level of play.
Enjoyed our game
We enjoyed the front nine of this course before health issues forced us to leave the back nine for another day. Nice holes, fairways and greens well laid out and not too difficult, but if you're not an accurate golfer, expect to lose a number of balls in the deep rough.
Signage from Bathurst is non-existent. Turn left for driving range, go straight ahead for the pro shop past a metal shed.
summer "blues'
The fairways are not watered so the only green that you see are the 'greens' themselves. The fairways are like hitting off of concrete and the bounces off of them make finding your ball difficult. Would not return until the rains come.
Worst course ive played in a while
So i thought $20 on golfnow, cant go wrong. Well id rather have my $20. This course is terrible. Fairways? What fairways, the ground is hard as rock, which makes for some crazy bounces. Greens are poorly maintained as well but playable. The worst part was being hounded by the marshall. I was a single golfer with nobody in front of me or behind me. Let a man just enjoy his golf without being disturbed. I can understand you doing that in regards to rate of play but im not holding anyone up! Needlesss to say im never coming back to this dump again.
Great first round
Good shape considering how dry it has been.
Good course, friendly staff
Had a nice Sunday afternoon game. The course marshal was an absolute boss, which was nice since we were playing behind a few slow groups. All in all, a nice round of golf.
Good
Nice course to play for walking!
Average course
Need some maintenance there's not much difference between fairway and rough, bunkers were actually covered with grass. Also, too much geese around, their craps are all over the course quite disgusted with it
