Poor management decision
Our church group held our annual golf tournament her yesterday. The on-course staff were great, carts were loaded up and ready to go. The day started out well then severe thunderstorms rolled into the area. All golfers were asked to return to the clubhouse for safety reasons … which was the right thing to do. At that point, only 5 holes were played. After almost 2hrs of downpour, pro-shop staff informed us that they would be issuing rainchecks to all golfers … they were just waiting for management approval. That’s when things started going downhill. Management had directed staff to only refund 75% of what each golfer had paid … not 100% or a raincheck for a future round. Throughout my many years of golfing, I’ve been called of the course due to weather and in all cases rainchecks were issued for a future round OR full value of whatever voucher used if less than 8 holes were played. Keeping in mind that this was a tournament and each golfer had paid a discounted rate, we certainly would understand if they couldn’t offer a raincheck for a future round at regular rate. Refunding 100% paid less the tournament setup fee would have been appropriate. The decision to refund 75% was simply poor customer service.
If anyone from their management team reads my review, I would encourage them to reconsider their decision.
Course condition is good
The course condition is pretty good for the opening season. Fairways n bunker are well kept but the greens are slow probably not being cut yet. Previously the drainage was not too good for this course but didn’t see any issue today. Check in was super quick and staff very friendly n polite. Pace was a bit slow particularly in those difficult holes. Overall speaking, it is a good course worth coming back.
Courses was not run properly
We had a five some in front of us slowed down the golf for everyone never heard of a fifth joining a foursome and when we asked if we could pass them they gave us grief and attitude.Usually the course is well organized but not this time and made everyone at edge we come to relax but ended in a shouting match with the fiive golfers .
Great day on a very good public course
The course was in great condition for my last round of the 2024 season. A 1hr first delay did not get in the way of an excellent round. The staff here Richmond Hill do a great job. I would play more often here in the summer if it were not so expensive. Fall rate walking was $85. This should be the summer rate and fall should be $65. I doubt this will ever happen 😔
Excellent course
I have played this course numerous times and always enjoy myself but this most recent round was ultra impressive considering it was fall golf. The course was in phenomenal shape and I don't know if the superintendent had a incentive program for leaf removal but for a course like this with a ton of tress the fairways were devoid of any leaves which considering the time of year and weather the past few days is quite the feat. Staff is always friendly and engaging and communication was on point notifying the day prior as well as the day of that a frost delay was in effect.
Thank you for your comments, it certainly was unfortunate that the weather caused a disruption of play on Saturday.
Our rain check policy states that if less than 6 holes have been completed then a full rain check will be issued for both the value of the green fee and power cart. If between 6 and 13 holes have been completed then a 50% rain check will be issued. We had 2 groups on Saturday and between the 2 it was determined that golfers had completed anywhere from 5 to 7 holes (a few of the earlier groups actually completed 8 holes). As it would not be possible to fully determine which groups played more or less holes (nor did we want to penalize those that played more), it was decided to offer all golfers a 75% rain check. As a result, effectively the value taken for the golf played was $20, with remainder being issued as a rain check. It was also offered that this rain check could be extended through to the end of the 2018 season if required (typically expires end of the current season).
We believed this to be a fair resolution given the circumstances.
