Poor condition and pace of play
Played this course last time 4 years ago. Was very surprised at how poor the tee boxes, bunkers and greens were. Tee boxes were uneven and mostly chewed up. Bunkers were hard as concrete with no chance to get under the ball. Greens had many ball marks and overall condition was poor. Pace of play. We should have finished in 4.5 hours but each time we saw a clock we were 15-20 minutes behind. The group in front of us were always waiting at each tee and in the fairway to hit. When we got to 11 we checked to see if there were any holes open ahead and there were 2 open. The group 2 holes ahead were holding everyone up. Spoke to the marshal previous to 9 and asked to push the groups ahead. Will probably not return to this course to play unless they improve.
Pace of play horrible
We played on Friday afternoon the course was so backed up we called it quits on the 10th hole. We waited on every hole and by 11 there was a group on the green 1 on the fairway and 2 groups waiting to tee off plus my group so we called it a day not enjoyable
RHGC Great Day Out
I have played the course many times, it is a great challenge for players of all levels. For long hitters there are definitely some attainable greens on Par 4s and almost everyone Par 5 (except for 10) is makeable in 2. Overall I am always pleased with a round at RHGC, I still feel it is overpriced but I can often justify it with it's prime location. It is the only course I can call my wife and tell her I will be home in half hour after walking off of 18 and actually be home in half hour.
Tee boxes
Overall good experience. Only thing is the tee boxes are horrendous for a 120ish dollar course. Seems like they're not maintained at all compared to the rest of the course. Graded horribly very uneven and divots absolutely everywhere. Need boxes of sand and seed on the deck for ppl to fill their own divots since staff don't.
Stationary cart girl also was not good. Back 9 you don't get offered food or drink at all.
Would play again but only got twilight rates not full price.
They kick you off early with no warning
Payed 90$ for a 6:00pm round, that’s fine, then we find out it’s lady’s night, that’s fine, so we ask if we can go off the back so we aren’t behind a lot of walkers? “No you guys will be better off the front” what does that even mean? We got 9 holes in 2.5 hours which is a joke, then at 8:35 when we are on the 11th hole the starter comes and tells us to “pack it in”. There is literally 40 minutes left of playable time and the course is finally wide open in front of us because the lady’s only play the first 9 holes. No warning at the start of the round that your kicked off at 8:30???? What kind of rule is that I’ve golfed at least 30-40 different courses in my life and always play twilight golf I’ve never had that anywhere. 90$ for 11 holes and you guys don’t at least offer a 9 hole rate is laughable and because your old starter wants to get home early he just comes out of no where and kicks people off? You have to at least tell people before the round that there is a cut off time. Not to mention I had literally just addressed the ball on the tee and the guy drives up and yells “time to pack it in” lol. I’m the furthest thing from a golf etiquette stickler but like, what the actual * is that? I will never recommend this course to anyone even though the course itself isnt bad. That’s just disgraceful management and service.
One of the best value public course in the city with a great and challenging layout with friendly and client focused personnel
Nice Challenging Course near City
RHGC is a wonderful, albeit short course (~5200 yards) that is minutes north of Toronto. Easily accessible, which is good. But it means LOTS of people and occasionally slow play which can make it a +4.5 hr round. The course itself if challenging, especially the back 8 holes in the valley. Overall, a fun tract.
Good but a bit pricey
First time playing RHGC, 8:10AM tee off time but a perfect day. Course was much greener than the one I played the previous day less than 20 miles away so it was well watered for sure. Not a super long course but pretty tight. Lots of trees. Greens were in really good condition. Got a surprise small breakfast (yummy) as its a bonus on weekends for pre-10am tee offs so that was nice. Would play again but would look for a deal at the course.
Richmond Hill golf
Richmond Hill is an excellent course. From the check in process to the starter and throughout the game everything is so well organized and done. The course has a great layout. The fairways are clean and well maintained and the greens are impeccable. Pace of play is good and a golf day here is very enjoyable.
