Great fall day for golf! Photo submitted by jonefraser on 10/20/2012
Its good to test your game on a tougher course
We played the Midlands- Highlands courses and it was a good day of Golfing on a challenging layout. The courses were in very good condition the greens were well maintained and not too fast. Its a mature course with narrow, tree lined, fairways or lateral water hazards.
The practice range is very good, with areas to warm-up all your shots before the round. The only precaution being that the sand in the bunkers on the practice range is better and deeper than on the course.
Its good to test your game on a tougher course periodically -- we'll be back!
5 Stars is a terrific commendation! Thanks, Sylvio
Thanks for taking the time for feedback, Dan... It's very gratifying to be at the top of your approval!
Hello Norman,
Thanks for the 4 Star ranking!
We'll keep pushing to reach your 5 Star approval....
Terrible pace of play
It took me 3 hours to play 9 holes here.
They sent out way to many groups in such a short period of time. Once had 3 groups waiting and the tee blocks.
Sorry we didn't meet your expectation for pace of play. Many years ago we adopted a 10 minute interval between groups to make play move smoothly. Usually, it works. 3 hours is a long time on nine hole. The nice part about a 27 hole layout is, we can usually find a back 9 tee that's less busy for you. I hope next visit you'll have a better experience.
A nice round
I like PR as it is always looking great. I find the staff really take care of the grounds. The tee boxes are in good condition no cigarette buts anywhere. The course is in ideal condition. Three nines make it interesting. It is a nice walk as well. Polite people and a good hotdog.
Polite people and a good hot dog! What more could you want?!
Thanks for my morning smile. I'll be sure to pass on your compliments to the kitchen.
Well kept course but very hilly
have not played this course for many years and today re-visited this course. It is very hot and humid today but no problem as we took the power cart. If walking, it will be very demanding physically. Quite hilly and with lots of sloppy fairways. But with power cart, we can drive up to check out the layout. You have to be pretty accurate in your drive and the white tee is very accommodating. Can play the blue for more challenge. The scenery is excellent and believe Autumn will be very attractive with different maples color. The Marshall is very polite and directed us to the less crowded course as it has 3 nine holes course which we appreciated very much. The players are also very friendly as the slower players allowed us to pass through to speed up the play and reduce waiting time. We finished in 4 hours which is very good indeed.
Hey Gouphero!
Thanks for choosing to come out here again after a long absence. I hope you noticed all the changes that have been taking place through here to improve playability and turf conditions.
Thanks for mentioning the friendly atmosphere here, it's something we take great pride in - an atmosphere of 'Excitement, Warmth and Fun'
I hope it's not such a long time before you're back to visit us again!
Challenging course, excellent condition
Front nine was wide open, back nine very slow. Overall this is an excellent golf course.
Pheasant Run
Good Course for the money when booking through Golf Now. Overall the course is in good shape, lot's of dog legs. Nice and quite as the course is nestled into the trees... accurate drives are a must.
Thanks for the comments, Rocky. I'm very happy with course conditions this year and quite confident in the value offered here.
Great Scenery But Poor Design
The hills and terrain make for beautiful scenery but some holes are too challenging for average golfers. Some of the holes are tricked up. Many holes have small elevated greens with large bunkers guarding it. Course condition was perfect...soft lush fairways and perfect greens. Putts rolled very smoothly. It would difficult to walk 18 holes for me. Staff was very friendly. Great value for the price paid. Would like to play in the fall to see the beautiful colours.
I'd be willing to bet that with a few more visits, you'd find the design challenges here add to the appeal. It can be a little daunting for the first -timers, but for so many players, the place gets under their skin.
Thanks for your comments.
Nice course - SLOWWW Play
Nice people, very good course, terrible pace of play.
No marshals and just over 5 hours to play.
Pace of play is a never ending battle for many popular courses. Fortunately, with 27 holes, we can often find a way around traffic jams, but sometimes those 5 hour rounds happen. I'd suggest trying to visit in quieter times of the week, but know that is also a challenge for many people.
Although never a good golfer, for decades Pheasant Run has been my favourite track in Ontario. It is a very special place where wonderful natural sights, sounds and fresh air remind me of balance and harmony.
Thanks for your comments. We do get to be part of a special place here. Most of us aren't great golfers, but there is still great benefit to getting out in this beautiful surroundings. Its good therapy all around!
Tight in spots
The course was in good shape. I went as a single, and although I waited at most holes, I was able to practice shots and also take two shots on occasion. The pace seemed slow, with the waiting, but in fact I finished in about 3 hours 25 minutes. I had a hot deal, so it was very inexpensive ($48.01 including all taxes and fees, and included a cart). Very good value for the price I paid.
This course is much too tight is spots- we've spent a lot of time working on widening out those landing areas, but there is more to do.
Its great to breeze through a game as a single and I'm sure it felt like a lot of waiting when other players are on the course, but really, 3 hours, 25 minutes isn't too bad. Some of my favourite times on the course are when I get out near the end of day, maybe after a rain shower, when the place is deserted and I get to feel like the only one there!
Hot, windy and difficult
Condition of the course is great, but greens painfully slow. Might have been that they grew 1/4" in a day though as it was the first hot and humid day.in a while. I will play this course often and hope to do better..
'5 Star Excellent' is where we like to be! thanks for the posting!
