Great course with challenging greens
First time playing here and we weren't disappointed. The greens are challenging with many elevations and slopes. Great place to play. Course was in great condition
Perfect Re Entry Round
This was the 1st time I played a round in 18 months due to a knee injury, it was challenging yet great to have a cart.
Nice course, not too difficult
I enjoyed this course for the elevation changes and felt that the par 5's were reachable. I also like that a few of the holes had water that would come into play. The greens were nice and most holes were very forgiving. It seemed like the back nine was empty when after the turn and allowed us to finish all 18 holes under 4 hours. Nice overall course that I would play again.
Nice course - staff not up to par
Made the reservation on Golf Now. When checking in the person wanted us to pay a higher price. Once I told him we had a lower price reserved he then stated "oh, you have the aeration price". He then told us that we would only be able to play the front 9 twice as the back nine was going through aeration. When we completed the first 9 we had to wait 45 minutes to start the second 9.
If I had know they were aerating the course I would have gone elsewhere and come back to Boundary Oak in a few weeks.
Good condition but Slow Play
Course was in good shape and fun course for the money but the pace of play was horrible. Took us 6 hours to play. Front nine was 3.5 hours.
Will play again!
Really enjoyed the golf course. Greens were fabulous and fairly easy lay out. Tee boxes could use some work but overall good course.
Well Maintain course
The course is in good condition. Greens are hard
enough to figure out the speed. Fairway are in good shape. Marshall are going around the whole time
Always a challenge
I really like this course. Lots of doglegs, greens are fast and true; the conditions right now are really good. You are either going uphill to the green, or downhill from the tee box. Good times!
Nice course - spotty condition
First time playing this course. We were a twosome and were able to play in less than 3.5 hours after being allowed to play through the foursome in front. So that was a very excellent pace. The layout of the course was good. We played the blue tees (about 6700) and were glad we did because the conditions were dry/patchy and there was a lot of rollout off the tee. Fairways were spotty - not 'horrible' for this time of year but a lot of brown and thin fairway grass. Greens were in good shape and surprisingly difficult with the days pin placements. My playing partner and I are decent putters and both struggled on the greens. They don't appear as tricky as they are.
One of the best muni courses in the east bay
Grew up playing Boundary Oak GC and every time I go back the course is in better shape. The greens were the fastest I have ever seen them. And they are not flat by any means. Be sure to leave your approach shot below the hole. The front nine has two reachable par 5s, and the back nine has two, three-shot par 5s. Front nine is much more scorable in my opinion. Fairways are tree lined so you'll want to hit it straight off the tee. The rough is not much of problem. The only issue with Boundary is pace of play. We started at 12:30 and didn't finish until 6pm. I would recommend getting an early tee.
still a great place to play
Ever since Boundary Oak was bought out a few years back they have done a great job with the course. Right now (in the Bay Area) it's really hard to find a golf course that isn't dry. But, Boundary has done a fantastic job with their greens. They have maintained them very well. I have played here for years, going back to high school. The course itself hasn't changed much. The driving range is pretty good, it's uphill (which is a little bit of a bummer) and they have a big putting green and chipping green area.
Golf Course Maintenance- 4/5
Greens- 5/5
Value for the Money- 4/5
Staff- 4/5
Pace of Play during the week- 4/5
**Hard one to judge sometimes because they have a few school that play out here. Sometimes it gets crowded in the summer time. During the winter though, if you tee off around 2:30 you'll still have a chance to finish!
greens are in perfect...
...condition....
Gorgeous day, course was in great condition and the greens are running pure...
Too long.
I teed off at 1107am and walked off the course at 330pm with 2 holes to play. That's 4 hours and 23 minutes for 16 holes on a Tuesday in December. That's ridiculous. Course is great and staff is friendly but I can't afford a 30 minute drive, 20-30 minute warmup and then 445-500 round of golf.
Fun Course
This course was fun and easy to play with open fairways and few obstacles. It was very well maintained. I hope to play there again soon.
These greens are some of the best
The only reason I gave this course a challenging rating is due to the greens- they are some of the best I've played- the rest of the course is moderate. If you are putting downhill downgrain proceed with caution. The range is separate from the course which I didn't use but have a lot in the past. Big practice putting green small chipping area. A little bit of a bumpy ride in some areas(yes the fairway)Overall a nice course I would like to play more if I could afford to.
Nice course, nice day.
Played the front nine with no one in front or behind us. Finished in an hour and a half. Got behind a foursome on the turn. They let us through. We were warned that the greens were being aerated. They were a little rough and hard to gauge. The nice fairways made up for this inconvenience. Staff was helpful and responsive. It got a lot busier as the day wore on. Typical as I was told by the regulars. All in all a great experience.
Sloow play
My first time playing the course was a Saturday afternoon, 12:20 tee time. Multiple groups waiting on the par 3s. Over 3 hours to play the front nine. The situation wasn't helped by the fact that the foursome in front of us spent many minutes looking at their putts. I sure hope they had a lot of money riding on the game! The ranger we talked to seemed to think they weren't taking too long. We elected to replay the front nine rather than continue the slog. We still didn't finish before dark. I liked the course layout but am hesitant to come back.
Challenging Layout
Located adjacent to the foothills of Walnut Creek, this course offers a wonderful layout, lots of tree lined fairways, many elevated tee boxes and enough up and down terrain to keep you on your toes. Although the greens were aerated recently, putting generally is always difficult on this course. Suttle breaks make every putt an adventure........ my favorite course in the area at this time. I would play it every week if i could.
Nice views
Enjoy the layout. The back nine plays longer which obviously makes it more difficult than the front. You get to use all the clubs in your bag with this course.
