Best kept secret
Awesome layout, and the friendliest staff in SW Ontario. Greens are a little hard , but nothing a little extra water won't take care of.
Pace of play was great and the use of the ranger definitely helps.
One of the most beautiful layouts in our area.
Country Club appeal at The Bridges
The Bridges is a public golf course that has a country club feel. This well maintained/managed facility is definitely worth a trip.
Great day
I had the pleasure of playing this course yesterday with a Golf Now deal.
The staff were terrific right from the get go. Tracey in the pro shop was very welcoming and helpful and the same can be said for the marshalls that we met on the course. They were friendly and helpful and unlike at many courses, we did not feel as though we were constantly under supervision and forced to rush our game. The beer cart girl, Claire, came by us several times during the round and a simple wave was all that was required to either get service or indicate that we did not need her to stop. She was friendly and did a good job.
The course itself was in great condition and for a 26 handicapper like myself, provided plenty of challenges. My son who is a low handicapper, also found the course to have interesting challenges and we both loved how the course feels to the eye.
In summary, my game was not great, but the experience of playing The Bridges At Tillsonburg certainly was. I will look forward to seeing another Golf Now opportunity to play this course. Great day!
Great course.
Very beautiful course. I'm not the best golfer but I had a blast. The staff were great and we had a good chat about the golf now app. Would definately go again. Make sure to grab a map because a few of the holes are blind from the tee pad. Overall a great experience on a nice sunny day.
great time
played at 1pm.so it was not busy at all.you need a cart here quite hilly in places. great clubhouse amazing food and service.A great place to come just for a nice evening meal great indoor area to eat or a nice outdoor patio, both overlooking the course.
Bridges for sure...
This was our second time playing The Bridges of Tillsonburg and it was as great the second time. I love this course! It has a very good mix of holes, is very scenic and is just plain fun! The rate of play was a bit slow but it was a Sunday afternoon, the weather was great, so lots of people out - if we want faster, we book earlier. This is not a course for beginners. Wish this course was cheaper as would play it more often.
Good value
Was somewhat surprised, hadn't played the course in several years, the cart have hand held GPS. it was a good value.
Bridge over troubled waters
Had some water hazards reach up and grab a few golf balls ;)........the marshall saw a roadblock in front of us with 2 slow foursomes and re routed us to the eight then we played the missed holes at the end...sped things up wonderfully..nice job.
Great course ,particulary 8 thru 17 hilly, water hazards and blind drives..nice carts with GPS units...a bargain for the price we paid...$19.99....ended up $25 Canadian
with fees and taxes each...can't be beat....
Disparity of Difficulty Only Drawback
Beautifully groomed and located only 40 minutes from London, this course is a great way to spend 4 hours with friends.
Prices of food and drinks are extremely reasonable and the course is beautiful. Simple GPS on carts helps navigate what is a brutal back 9 for a bogey golfer.
Front 9 is wide open and relatively simple then the back becomes a nightmare for first time golfers. Would recommend only the front 9 for first timers and for advanced golfers, stick to the back 9.
Watch out for #17 as it can be a round destroyer as it was for me.
bridges
this course was in great shape., you could not beat the price to play here with great views and some tough holes. Was worth the drive for the cost and the great shape of this golf course . The staff was friendly and courteous ( A )
TIllsonburg should be very pround of this course!!!
I was extremely impressed with this course, had some good challenges on each hole as it twists through the wooded area amongst the water hazards throughout the course. I must say the back nine is more challenging then the front! The back is picturesque with the IRON BRIDGES coming into view on several holes.
Overall a must play if your in the area....and if you live in Tilllsonburg this should be your choice to play on a regular basis!
After your round of golf they have an outdoor relaxing patio that is so inviting to sit and have a couple of drinks and talk about the round. I would suggest expanding the food menu.....but what you have on your menus is tasty. The service is excellent...a little slow but you were very busy!! UNDERSTANDABLE!!!
Very scenic and challenging
The course was in perfect shape, for the start of May, as other courses had severe winter damage. It is very scenic with it's signature trestle bridge view. It is hilly and has a tunnel underpass as well as numerous golf cart bridges. It is very challenging with plateau tee offs
and uphill greens as well. The staff were excellent, and
food was gourmet quality . The prices were good for this top notch course. The course is one of the best in the London area and I have been to most of them.
Good and friendly
I almost hate to write this review because they will get busier This is a good challenging course with a lot of interesting holes and very scenic. The staff is second to none with friendliness and always helpful. The price is bang on . Not over priced like some I play. Will play here a lot this year even if it is 40 minutes away.
Great Deal
Great Price, Great Course, Great Time! I loved the course and all the different views of the Bridges.
Warm day, good course, challenging
This was my 2nd time at the course, played with my 14 year old grandson, who learned to play at junior golf club last year, so wanted to try it as he is more experienced. I enjoyed the front nine, although somewhat challenging, it suited my level of play, My grandson shot 3 over after 9. The last 9 are challenging for a good golfer, but some holes are daunting for a player like me. My grandson faced the challenge and shot bogie golf, I had difficulties. I would recommend this course for the serious and good golfer, and for my type, the front 9 is a good game of golf. I would return, if weather and price was reasonable. Conditions excellent, enjoyed the surroundings and the staff.
Scenic course
This course has some very scenic holes with big elevation changes. The first hole is officially a warm-up hole before you get to the 1st tee. The key to this course is to keep out of the rough as the rough is thick & long. Greens run well but you can be faced with a lengthy putt on some of the bigger greens.
You need to think your way around the course & on some holes the driver should stay in the bag. Overall an enjoyable course to play but beware that once you play 18 holes before you get back to the clubhouse & the half-way house isn't always open. There was a beverage cart but we didn't see it until the 17th hole!
Challenging and for experienced golfers
We enjoyed this course which is challenging and not for beginning golfers. Some very unique
holes. The fairways were in good condition and we
cannot comment on the greens which were rough due
to aeration. We were warmly greeted in the pro shop and it just set the mood for a wonderful round.
However, the maintenance staff and drink cart driver
really got in the way sometimes. However, we will
definitely return and may try the restaurant as well
since the clubhouse staff are so friendly.
Beautiful
Unfortunately the fairways were quite long but I think(hope) that was because of all the rain recently.
Very picturesque. Lots of undulation. Not a course to walk. There are a couple of odd holes. No. 16 in particular. As a first time player of the course, the biggest problem was several holes that had completely blind shots. There is no map on the score card and the tee block does not have a map of the hole either so you must resort to driving the cart way up the course to see where you need to go. The signage is reasonably good directing to the next hole but sometimes it is quite a distance and not always clear. A map on the scorecard would help here as well. I can't help but think some of these omissions will contribute to slow play.
Surprisingly Impressive City Course
Had never heard of this course prior to booking, but based on the previous reviews, took a chance. Very impressed. The greens were in excellent condition. The fairways, not bad considering the week of wet weather. The course is quite short, but includes some fun and challenging holes, especially on the back nine.
Worth the Trip
First time playing this course, and it exceeded expectations - especially at 5800 yds from tips. Landing areas were generally challenging. The highlight was definitely the back nine holes in the river valley. Very picturesque and some interesting "target golf" holes. Greens were in great shape - course staff was welcoming - even gave us a copy of the course guide, which did come in handy in the valley. Only downsides were the bunkers - which were a mess due to the heavy rainstorm two days earlier (which also wiped out their warm-up hole) - not sure what their normal condition of the bunkers is like. #18 is a simple hole that is not of the calibre of the rest of the course. Would be nice to end on something more memorable.
