Cart path only
Found out on hole 1 that it was cart path only and that they just top dressed the greens. We didn’t see the need for cart path only and they were cutting the fairways while we were playing.
Nice for golf
Course was in great shape. Got a hot deal so great value. Greens where a little slow but other than that it was great. Finished our round in 4hrs. I would recommend this course
Clever little course.
Good value for the $. Nicely designed course, interesting holes. Club house is great with nice patio.
Good golf course for value
Grass conditions are good. Courses are fun but layout somewhat confusing to find right hole. White tee is shorter than other golf club. Probably will try blue next time. Staff friendly.
Good Conditions Despite Hot Weather
Booked as a single, I try to book into tee times with 2-3 players already booked to leave open spots available for larger bookings. I arrived 20 minutes before my tee time. When I checked in at the proshop I was told my tee time had been moved forward 20 minutes.(A call or email to inform me of this would have been appreciated..)
I was rushed to the starter at the 1st tee, and was told I'd been paired up with a twosome that had already teed off and was on the first green. The marshall told the 4 gentleman on the tee to let me play through. Was not a pleasant way to start a round... I understand that booking as a single you're at the mercy of the tee sheet. However, being informed that my tee time had been moved (why bother providing an email / phone # if it's not going to be used) would have prevented what was truly an unpleasant experience.
To top it off.. after I eventually joined up with the twosome we played behind a group of 5 golfers. Was not very impressed.
Condition
Course conditions were fantastic. During dry times it was the only course still green and soft. It’s always good value for the money.
Golf Review #1 (Putting Greens)
Century Pines is a good golf course that could be so much better.
Do you like playing a golf course that changes the pin placements two times a week... even after 500 or more golfers have walked all around the holes?
Do you like a golf course that keeps the hole less than a quarter of an inch from the top, creating what I like to call the volcano effect around the cup? Good luck making that key putt for par...
Do you like greens that are slow - my guess is around a 6 or 7 on the Stimpmeter?
Do you like seeing workers doing jobs around the golf course like removing 100 and 200 yard marks from the fairways or working on flower beds that golfers could care less about? Someone needs to explain to me how this makes any sense when the pins have not been changed in 4 days.
50% of the game of golf is played on or around the greens. My recommendation to the superintendent is to pay more attention to what really matters to golfers. Listen to your pro shop staff... they know golf!
My recommendations to the Kaneff Golf Group are to spend more time at this location, listen to what your members and guests are saying, and take the things that are golf-related out of the hands of the superintendent who can grow grass in concrete but knows very little about the game of golf and what matters to golfers.
My recommendation to you, my fellow golfers, is to say something if you have played at this course and have experienced any of the above problems.... Say Something!
If you have not played this course yet, WAIT until they address some of these issues before you play this great little golf course.
More to come
Left Side of the Fairway
Too Expensive
At almost 75$ to ride this is not a great value imo, but the course was in good shape and the staff were professional
For the date we played Oct 26th the weather was cool conditions were dry. The course was in great condition even with the leaves. Only had white tee blocks out but found it challenging enough. Would play again next year for sure.
big changed
I've been played more than 20 yrs ago
golf course changed a lot of upgraded
good value for play
I'll be back more often
This course is so over crowded, you better plan on a 6 hour round. The conditions of the fairways are mediocre, they are always soggy. They need to invest in better drainage.
Great course
First time playing this course and I absolutely loved it. All the staff was very friendly and the course was a great difficulty level for an intermediate player like myself. The value is absolutely amazing and I’ll definitely be back. Only thing I would change is having a second person behind the desk in the pro shop, as I walked in the front door 15 minutes before my tee time and waited a long time due to phone calls and other customers in line, so I was nearly late for the starter. (I would also appreciate more realistic cart rental prices, but that may just be me being cheap lol)
Thanks!
Yes completely new golf course!
