Warkworth Golf Club

I played Warkworth as a single, starting off in a Scotch mist. The course was understandably wet, but in good condition. The greens are in good condition and, despite some short holes starting out, there are some real good holes, with elevation changes and a creek to contend with. I would recommend this course to anyone. Although I played alone, I encountered some friendly members, and thoroughly enjoyed the day.

I had a 9am tee time so pace of play was great. 2 some ahead offered to let me through but they were playing quickly and I was in no hurry. First 9 is the toughest. Narrow tree lined fairways, water, elevation changes and some long carries made it a challenge. Back 9 was a bit easier but still good. Fairways were so so but greens were in great shape. Well worth the visit. I'll be back.

Had a great time golfing in Warkworth for the first time. Course was in very good shape, for October. My playing partner and I really enjoyed it, and plan on playing there again next summer!

Fantastic value on the Golf Now price. Very good track and the back tees coupled with the protected greens offer a higher than average challenge.

Awesome course, well maintained and greens were perfect. Challenging drives, some narrow fairways, would play it again.

The day was very hot 31 Cel. Course is in excellent condition although the sand traps could be improved. Its a course where you have to be aware of the distances to hazards and don't overextend your abilities. All in all a great day on a very challenging course.

Being my first time here I wasn't sure what to expect. With the day being hot and humid (and with a 12:00 noon tee time) I thought playing 18 could be a challenge. However, not too many on the course and I was able to zip right along.
As for the course itself, it is definitely not a grip and rip it course....lots of tight faiways, lateral hazards which require good course management. The course was in nice shape, no complaints there but I did find myself questioning the yardage indicators (particularly the 150 yd. stakes) quite a few times. When I compared the distance to my laser rangefinder, I found the distances of the 150 markers were understated by 10 yards at least...and this was to the centre of the green.
Other than that, I will be making plans to go back again.

I am first going to start with the few positives. Girls in the clubhouse 5 star service! Both at check in and at half way for a quick snack! Unfortunately I did not get his name but I believe it was the owner's son who I was fortunate enough to speak with when he was busy watering greens trying to adjust to the conditions! That's a huge thumbs up. Greens were lightning and rolling true with plenty of challenging pin selections and tricky double breakers. Who I believe to be the owner's son was first engaged and genuinely interested in what myself and the other two kind gentlemen I played in with thought of the course and what he could do to improve conditions but also genuinely interested in where we normally play and come from! Thumbs up! Now the negatives.... First bad experience was no course Marshall at first tee enforcing proper tee time take off. I was close to being late but definately not late when I was forced to skip the first hole to catch up with the two gentlemen I was grouped with who also caught this awesome HOT deal. Tee off time 8:30 first hole completed 8:31 hmmmm? I will say girl in clubhouse nice enough to let me play first afterwards! Course Etiquette from grass cutting Crew by far the worst I have ever experienced on a course. I was first laughed at for waiting after hitting 325 yard drive on 9 whopping 604yds for a group ahead to reach the green. Grass cutter was being impatient saying they are across creek hit your ball blah blah blah! I was nice about it and said this is where my drive is I could easily get there being a master of what I call the "Webb Simpson" (driver off the deck). Sure enough I wait and easily cross the creek leaving myself with a short pitch to get up and down for birdie. After getting across creek and waiting for players in my group I'm excited for the opportunity I have played myself into with 2 great shots but yet have yet a different grass cutter less than 100 yds away just on other side of creek completely going full bore totally oblivious to the fact golf is an etiquette and gentlemen's sport. I made the mistake of letting the guy get to me and of course chilly dipped it and manged to turn an easy par opportunity and very good birdie chance into a bogey due to lack of etiquette for the second time on the same hole by two different grass cutters. Thankfully the two guys I was playing with cracked a good joke and the girls in the clubhouse were a big help getting me back on track! Fruit for thought owner when you charge $5.95 for a sandwich not just me but all golfers would expect better bread than the cheapest stuff you can find at the local grocery store a.k.a our compliments or great value. I know this because my wife is a chef and I grew up on the stuff because my parents are cheap! Not cooks fault! If you can believe this I get things back on track with my round and hit a great approach on 13. I have about 15 ft up the hill with a little bit of break for birdie! Exciting finally a real birdie opportunity! As much to my disbelief another grass cutter comes barrelling over the hill from 14 tee blocks as I am ready to address my ball. No apology offered actually a hand gesture with one finger for a wait just one second from him so he doesn't have to stop what he's doing. I step off my ball completely rattled at this point with this being my 3rd encounter with a grass cutter in 13 holes! Of course I missed the put after the reset but hey that's on me for having my skirt on and leaving it short! Ugh lol! Other negatives were bad experience with John on the phone! Rude, Condescending and obviously doesn't want the public on his course at golfnow rates! We were playing early in the morning so likely fair to assume mainly members ahead of us. I myself and other fellows in my group fixed several and I mean several ball marks on each green. Minimum of 3-4 per green myself just on whatever part of the green I passed. I did not go out of my way to repair just fixed what obviously stuck out! Other members in my group who were complete strangers to me made same comment about lack of course etiquette when it came to the cutters and lack of ball mark repairing! Another big complaint I have is the large portion of clover that grows throughout different sections of the course in the fairway. Creates so much inconsistency when your trying to hit a wedge my best advice for anybody is the pick it clean rule on this course must be applied! One hole would be hard as a rock and then another in a high spot would be "spongey" because of the large amount of clover not grass in throughout large portions of the fairway! This is not my first time playing this course but surely will be my last based on lack of course etiquette from members and staff and the inconsistency in the fairways. There are good people at this course deserving of recognition as mentioned above but unless you get the Hot Deal my advice is stay away! I know they say beggars can't be choosers but I've kept that in mind with my ratings and if it wasn't for the fact that I got on for less than $20 with a cart thanks to GolfNow I would have been asking for my $$$$ back!

We used the play book provided and loved the hints. Everyone was friendly even the other players. A great course and wonderful layout, challenging but very playable

Because of all the keys falling from the maple trees, it was hard to find your ball. However, the course cutting and maintenance was quite good. A couple small areas need a little work, but did not affect our overall satisfaction with the course.

This is a scenic country course and is well maintained with mature trees, sand traps, water hazards and large greens.The staff in the pro-shop and restaurant are very friendly. The course is a short drive North of Hwy 401.An enjoyable afternoon .

Took the young lad out (12) for 18 holes, perfect for both of us...

On the way back to Ottawa from Toronto and got an excellent hot deal from GoldNow. Super friendly staff at the pro shop. The golf condition was surprising good with excellent greens. Front nines with narrow fairways and trees on both sides, back nines are easier to play. We both enjoyed the afternoon there and will certainly be back when opportunity arises again.

The course was in good shape. Some holes were short but required tricky shots or strategy. A great experience other than a foursome that weren't very good and wouldn't let anyone play through.

The course had only been open for a couple of weeks so the conditions were not perfect but very playable, but in mid season expect it to be in great shape. Not killer long from the white tees so if you want a tough test play the back tees. The staff is excellent and the food is very good. If your in the area this course is one you should try and we will be back.

We originally found this course when we stopped in for dinner (after playing another nearby course), and wandered through a few of the holes. We were impressed with what we saw and planned to return (and we did). Food and service was exceptional and the girls in the restaurant were excellent and friendly. A lot of the food was prepared from scratch and not from a can. The course was in excellent condition, but somewhat challenging if you're not accurate. There are lots of trees, rivers and lets just say the edges of the fairway are rough. You can pretty well say good-bye to any ball that leaves the cleared area. I guess that's an incentive to improve my accuracy.
The scenery is very nice and we saw lots of wildlife including a gadzillion chipmunks and several deer.
We started our round fairly late this time and 'our' game wasn't going well, so we pulled the plug after 9 holes in favor of a nice dinner and a few libations.
I expect our group will return several times before the end of this years' season.

First time on the course and luckily it was in excellent condition my wife and I both played 18 holes with a cart and were done in about 3 1/2 hours. I am a bogey golfer and I still found the course relatively easy to hit fairways and greens, but I still did manage to lose a few golf balls along the way. One whole to watch for his hole number 15 it's a 272 yard drive from the whites but it's reachable with a downhill slope. There are bunkers on the left and right side of the front of the green so it is a narrow gap. Putted for eagle made birdie. Good luck and have fun.
