Questioning?
When we arrived at the club house, we saw it more as a run down sales office for homes. It had snacks and a bar but no real seating area. We both asked ourselves if the course conditions were as the club house. After a few hole of play, we noticed that the course was in great shape with challenging hole layouts.
Therefore, don't fooled with first impressions.
dissappointing
The course its self has a lot of potenial. Could be a very nice course. That said it is lacking many features that even a cheap course has. The club house is a former model home . No restuarant or bar. No liquor license due to the fact that they dont have running water. They also dont have a map of the course anywhere. On some holes you have to completely guess which direction to hit the ball.
Like I said it easily could become an exceptional course however it seems that the management is content to let it be a sub par course.
Spring is in the air
Course was in good shape for May but still has a ways to go sand traps need work to much stone , but we enjoyed the round liked the island green and the Links are always a challenge would reccomend playing here but would not want to pay more then 40 $ because of construction that never seems to end here, played this course many times everybody should try it once:
Great course for the money
Great golf course for the money, construction around the clubhouse and first and final holes but besides that the course is in great shape. Staff are non-existent, guy in the clubhouse doesn't know how to work the computer and the starter/marshall sits in the parking lot all day. There's no cart for beer!
Better courses nearby
It is not a bad course but no putting green, chipping green, driving range, and a staff that really does not care. There are too many good courses at better value in the Barrie/Collingwood area to waste a good day at The Links.
Links of New England
A great course with lots of challenges, you must keep your ball straight or the ponds, marshes and fescue will claim them. The course is in great shape, and were serving hot dogs at the turn, good setup. Def go back again, though I may leave my driver home!
A great test of golf
This is a course that grows on you. When we stepped onto the tee at the 5th hole and saw one of the prettiest golf holes any of us has seen it had us. The 18th hole really forces you to think through your strategy on the tee and in the fairway.
As far as value for the money goes this one can't be beat!
Showed up to a confirmed tee time and course was closed
Drove 1.5hours after confirming with the pro that the course was open and that the rain had not changed tee time. I arrived to find the course closed and received an email charging me for the no show. A real joke of a day. The course obviously had my info and my email but were too lazy to inform me they closed for the day but managed to email me a no show bill. The irony is that they are the no shows...not me
Very good value for your money. Very fast greens.
The course was in very good shape. Despite the greens being aerated the week before they were very fast and very true. The 16th, a long par three over a hazard, and the 18th, a par 5 winding through the new housing construction, are a real test of golf. Being after the Labour Day weekend the course was not too busy and we were able to play at our own pace - not waiting and not holding anyone up. We were a foursome of high handicappers and played in just under 4 hours playing from the white tees.
Course has a nice variety of holes and is in good condition.
Course provides good challenge for all levels. Condition of course is good and variety of holes is good. This course is unique enough that playing it on a regular basis is not boring. Forced carries over hazards on some holes could be difficult for some and once off the generous fairways the rough is dense and leads to lost balls.
Nice course, conditions improve every year
Booked a good deal for long-weekend Monday on Golfnow.
Rainey day, but no bev. cart on a holiday? And once you're out on the course, you're gone for the whole round, you do not see the clubhouse between nine's. So pack a lunch!
Also, did not get range balls that were to included with booking. Didn't protest because it was raining, but pro shop didn't mention/offer them.
Wouldn't pay full-pop for this course, but would go again with significant golfnow discount.
great looking course
18 holes with no area for refreshments until you finish your game. No drinking water source on the course. We were told the greens had been serviced recently but the condition of them was not good. They needed watering badly. We found we putted on sand rather than green grass. Our group enjoyed a considerable price reduction which made the course tolerable. Not a course for those that prefer to walk. A lot of dead space between holes which took a 4 round to 4 1/2 hours.
this course is destined to be a great one
the course will only get better I try to play it 6 times a year over the last 5 years and even with all the construction going on I still leave the course satisfied . I will return to challenge it again.
poor
oonly good thing was excellent greens' Bunkers where raked but where over grown with grass. You could hit into a bunker and roll out. Not many level tee boxes
Different style of golf needed.
The course has to be played a bit differently due to the hard fairways and green, bump and run is a must. Signs were lacking for some of the blind carries, it would be nice to know how much to the hazards and how much to carry the hazards.
Tough but fair
From tee blocks to greens the course is excellent! 18 has some construction, but it doesn't interfere other than visually. A few blind tee shots ( including 18 where a 240 yard fly with fade gets you who knows where?) Greens are not super fast, but they are pristine. The staff, just like Marlwood, are superb. They are all hard core golfers and really "get it". The pace was really good and we were never held up or crowded. Will I be back.... definitely and soon!!
Needs work
With construction going on for homes being built along some of the fairways, it takes away from the enjoyment of a round of golf. Pro shop staff could use a lesson on customer service. A hello or a smile goes a long way for repeat customers. Greens were true rolling I do give them an (A) for there greens. On course staff were friendly and helpful.
still under construction
Nice golf course lots of construction ongoing. has the makings of a good golf course when completed..
Link course,lot's of water,par 3 island,nice layout
If you enjoy link golfing this course will be challenging.
No refreshment cart.
