A challenging yet rewarding course
Teed of at noon as a twosome. Round seemed slower though we played in 4.5 hours. Foursome in front were slow. No Marshall on course which was surprising for a Saturday afternoon. Course conditions were very good other than the greens were quite beat up. A number of unrepaired ball marks were on each My playing partner’s ball was seriously affected when running over a few poorly repaired marks. I dwell on this as it was the only serious problem.
Played the gold tees and they are quite demanding despite a lower than expected slope rating. I think this is a course that would benefit with a hybrid gold/silver series of tees like some other courses now provide.
A in all a 4/5 round. Good value for the money.
Nice Track
Had not played this course for 12 years, but remember it as a real good track, so was really looking forward to playing it again. It did not disappoint! Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in great shape. Course was pretty quiet as it was a Monday AM tee time, so pace of play was just fine. I played with one of the Marshall's so had some good company and guidance around the course, 12 yrs is a long absence! The ball wasn't flying so well as it was not overly warm and the air was heavy, so had to club down on each shot, but once I made the adjustment, I started to score better. Overall, a great day on a great track, will defo be back again soon!
Great course. Diverse holes.
Really enjoyed playing this course. very well maintained. Diverse holes. greens in great shape. Tee blocks a little chewed up.
Good, not great
Good course but a little unconventional. Felt at times like I was playing random holes from 2 or 3 different courses mashed together. While many might appreciate the eclectic non-stale nature of this I prefer a golf course that has 1 identity and feel to it. Pace of play was pretty brutal for a Wednesday PM as well.
No sand in the bunkers.
This course is a $40 dollar course. No sand in the bunkers and greens that are filled with ball marks that are not fixed. Also don't give any divot mix on your cart. This course use to be a great course, now it is going down hill .
Wonderful course
Great course for a challenge with some friends! Friendly and helpful staff, exactly what you would expect from a top tier course at a reasonable price.
Play a round here and you won’t regret it!
Terrible Bunkers
Great course layout but bunkers need to be improved. Lots of small stones and would be nice if they had real sand instead of dirt in the bunkers. Greens and fairways in good shape.
Maintenance
This course is an absolute gem. Unfortunately the maintenance budget is clearly well short of what it needs to be. Considering the cost of green fees this shouldn't be a problem.
Lovely links style course.
Grey Silo offers a challenging round of golf on a beautiful links layout. The fairways are generous and the greens immaculate. I would recommend a cart as there are long distances between some greens and the next tee blocks. Golfers of all abilities will enjoy playing at Grey Silo.
Terrific layout
A wonderful day at Grey Silo..lots of tee box choices... course is in terrific condition..greens rolled nicely...friendly staff...goof pace of play with on course Marshalls.
First time playing here...We will definitely be back
course needs marshals to control pace, gaps and golfers taking too much time looking for lost balls and holding up the rest of the field.
