Not the Hunters Pointe Once Known For
Unfortunately they changed several holes in the front nine which I preferred the original layout. The only positive of the new change is that they switched 9 for 18 and vice versa, which makes sense. If you're using any GPS golf app, this new layout will not show up.
Fun Round at Hunters
This was our first time playing the course. The service was great and the guys outside made us feel welcome. The course was in pretty good shape, a bit dry, but probably due to the weather. Honestly, not much better in Niagara for the value. Looking forward to our next round.
a challenging, well laid out 18 holes of play
I enjoyed the play immensely as I had to use good judgement, different clubs and putt well to have played well. No holes are 'unfair', and all require a good hit and club selection . The day was perfect.
Front nine very confusing
The course had to change hole 3 4 5 6 because of the new highway, This make s the layout very confusing .
So i did not enjoy the total round also there was a 5 some of members playing ahead of us so pace of play was very slow.
Had food at the bar very good nachos great service from Brooke.
Changes have ruined this course
I've played this course many times before but only the second time since they were forced to alter the holes running parallel to the highway. The track is no longer fun to play, confusing and sadly I won't play here again. Time to rethink the design changes or come up with a better solution to the highway problem.
Best bang for the buck
First time I played in this course and I enjoyed it. It's quite confusing bec they don't have a course outline on the score card. Good thing I played with people who played there before. They made some changes on the course this year, but I got a good deal so I got no complaints. Definitely will go back again to play.
nice track
Played this past Tuesday, enjoy playing Hunters regularly. By far the best public course in Niagara, decent prices. New holes are nice, looking forward to coming back.
under some renovations
the course is kept in good shape.greens are very fast and challenging,i enjoy the surroundings and look forward to my next round there.r.b.
Thanks for playing, gatorrb55! Hope to have you back out soon.
This is the my new favourite course
It has the perfect mix of water and bunkers to make the course fun to play, but not impossible to have a good score for the average golfer. The course looks amazing, I drive by it every day for work and it looks even better now than when I played in April (although it was in great shape, except the bunkers, in April). Honestly I have nothing bad about this course, and would recommend it to anyone.
HUNTERS POINT
THEY HAVE TOTALLY DESTROYED THIS COURSE WITH THE RECENT CHANGES.
SOME HOLES ARE TOTALLY UNFAIR FOR AMATURE AND RECREATION GOLFERS 212 PAR 3 HOW MANY GOLFERS REACH THE GREEN
TOTALLY STUPID NEW LAY OUT DANGEROUS THEY HAVE ALSO REMOVED A GREAT PAR 5 AND SHORT PAR 3 ON THE FRONT NINE CHANGED TO A STUPID PAR 3
HOWEVER 9 AND 18 ARE FABULOUS HOLES
poor layout
the new holes that were changed are not well marked ...black and white poles everywhere, could not tell if 150 yrds or what they were suppose too be ..need way better markers could not see until right beside them ...not even a foot tall ..come on ....all holes pretty much play the same, bunkers were not raked ...won,t be back...
Hello trainrollon, thanks for the review. The black and white poles are target markers, the yardage markers, coloured red (100 yds), white (150 yds) and blue (200 yds) are in place on the holes.
Wow
So this course was renovated in late November. Wow, sure doesn't look like it today with the exception of some lousy areas that are out of play anyways. Really enjoyed my day. This is a beautiful golf course that may have just gotten better.
Thanks for the review, Golfunutz. Hope to see you back out soon.
Course Looks Good
Had dinner at the club Saturday night. New menu, new manager, new chef - new everything and it was great! Great prices!
Viewed the course changes last week. There are a few muddy areas yet to be seeded around the tees but looks real good. The new green on the 6th hole is very interestingly placed behind a portion of the lake on the left. Great look. The fifth hole might be the toughest hole on the course. Playing the course Saturday. Can't wait.
Golf Course is Back!
I live in the Hunters Pointe community and am a current member of the club. This past fall, the golf course completed renovations to holes 3, 4, 5 and 6. The changes were part of an effort to fix the stretch of course affected by the highway expansion project. After touring the course and seeing the new layout first hand, my playing partners and I can't wait to tee it up. The new holes are fantastic and may even be better than the old layout. I just wanted to take some time to point this out as some of the reviews (some fair, some not) do not speak to the current state of the course.
Thanks for the comment! We are excited about the changes and welcoming golfers to play the course come spring.
One of the best courses in the area
It was pretty chilly and windy, but this course would be good for a one night getaway to the Falls. This is not the best time of year to play in this links course, especially as I heard from my golf buddies that it's always windy out there and a couple holes were under major construction. The green of hole 9 was being devastated by geese, but what can be done...
Thanks for playing this past fall. We hope to see you in 2016. Our on-course construction is now complete and all holes will be ready for play come spring.
Can't wait to get back
From the welcome at the bag drop to the waitress in the lounge at the 19th hole what a great day.
First off about the two holes that have been cut it was disappointing but did not take away from the whole experience. The course is challenging even though it plays to 5950 yards this is because it has lost over 400 yards to the aforementioned holes, the greens were FAST but true and the closing holes on both nines are visually spectacular from the tees and challenging from the fairways.
The landing areas off the tees are quite generous.
The bunkers that I was in (and there were a few) could have used more sand however they were consistent. The fairways were a little thin in that there were many bald spots and finally you can only use irons on the practice range.
After the round as we shook hands coming off the 18th (9th) green we all said lets come back.
Thanks for the feedback. The shortened holes were renovated this fall and we are excited with the new changes and layout. Information about our renovation project can be accessed by visiting www.hpgolf.ca
Very nice course
Beautiful course, very slow on front 9, but will definitely play it again
Thanks for the review and playing! Hope to see you back out in 2016.
Nice BUT ....
A very nice course but disappointing on the back 9 where 2 holes were shortened and teeing off in the middle of the fairway. Price should reflect this change to the course. Will go back.
Thank you for the feedback. The shortened holes were renovated this past fall and have been restored to a permanent layout. We are pleased with the new holes and welcome the opportunity to have you back out to play in 2016.
New highway affected back nine for now
Definitely a good course overall some very nice looking holes on it unfortunately due to construction on a highway next to part of the course a 518 yard part 5 on the back nine had to be made into a short par 3 and it was the nicest looking hole on the course when a part 5. Not the courses fault the change was forced by the city useless politicians but it really takes something away from the overall experience of what it was before. Hoping they can find a way to make another hole or two longer next season to make up for this. A reasonable challenge for good golfers and nice to look at. Weather was good and got lots of roll on fairways. Greens were a little quick but it's been very hot. A group two holes in front of us slowed things down alot. Just idiots. Otherwise like playing there would recommend it but the downsize of the best part five on the course down to a short par 3 will keep me off for now.
Thanks for playing this past fall and submitting a course review. Due to the great fall weather, we were able to complete our course renovation project and fix those holes affected by the highway. Four new holes are now in place and ready for play come spring, including a new par 5. Hope to see you back out in 2016.
Great challenging course
Some holes are very challenging, some are drivable par 4's but the water and bunkers are very well placed and the undulating greens mean that even when your on, you are in for a bit of hard work.
Thanks for the review!
Rasiulis,
We contacted all of the GPS merchants numerous times since last December in an effort to have the course changes implemented for this season. They are incredibly slow to respond. You must do a delete of Hunters Pointe and load it again to activate changes.
