Awesome course
Great course, well maintained, definitely playing here in the future.
Slowest round ever
I like the greens here, good speed and contours and condition.
The probelm is the round was 5 hours and 10 minutes
No marhalls on this course and it was the second time in 5 rounds that we had over a 4 and half hour round.
Too many golfers and a couple who had spouses that couldn't golf and took their time were 3 holes behind on Heron but no marshal to move them ahead,
Not acceptible
Good conditions, slow play
The course is in good shape and the greens ran true for the most part.
The pace of play was the biggest issue, as it was a 5+ hour round and some holes had 4 groups at a time. Not once was there a marshall on the course to have a slow group ahead pick up the pace of play.
There were also not enough power carts and the starter was less than friendly. He was reluctant to help with getting a cart and was not clear as to which group was teeing off on the 1st hole.
Overall, the course is in very good shape and it is very good value for the money. A bit of effort by the staff could have changed a below average experience into an above average one.
Cash grab
Course was well maintained and greens were true. The only problem was we were charged $25 CAD each for the cart rental....WOW! And we were rained out after 9 holes and the course does not give rain delay vouchers as we booked through golfnow. We have not heard back from golfnow as of yet and waiting to hear.
worth the drive from toronto
nice course, great shape, nice rolling greens. will definately be back
The Heron
Considering the dry weather we've been having the course was in very good condition. The only drawback is once you leave the first tee you don't see the clubhouse again until you are finished 18, and no halfway house. Only one refreshment cart between two courses so you'd better come prepared. ...The greens were excellent with very consistent roll and fairways excellent. All in all a very good day of golf.
Record Pace and two slow play warnings
I just played the Heron course today in 3:45 minutes and had two slow play warnings by Lindsay the marshall who I think is friends with one of the girls that thinks she is on the LPGA playing behind us
4 guys walking and the threesome behind didnt wait on one shot, but because we teed off with two
Empty holes
In front Lindsay decided to give us ridiculous slow
Play warning then follow us most of the round.
Learn the game
Lindsay if you work at a golf course. It takes a foursome 4 hours minimum to play, logic will tell you that 3 people might take
Less time than 4.
Never seen anything like it...lol
Good course in Welland
First time on Heron. Have played Sparrow several times.
Evidence of working on the course (re-sodding a tee box, cutting back brush, etc.) - not everywhere this year.
Several “hidden” water hazards in play - not necessarily visible from tee box.
Last few holes are tough finishing holes.
