Not what you see in their pictures, pics from 10 years ago..
The worst it has been since new owners took over. A good $10-$15 course.
Wild Life
Greens and Tee Boxes in very rough shape. Plenty of wild life to enjoy to include deer, turkeys, and an occasional Hawk. Wide fairways but long grass in the rough.
Great design/Poor condition
Great setting and course layout; I assume that at one time this was a premiere golf course well worth the drive. If you can put up with dry, ground squirrel infested, bumpy fairways and roughs and seriously damaged, soft spongy greens, you may enjoy playing this challenging layout. My friends prefer green, well manicured golf courses, so I couldn't recommend it to them.
Fertilizer Burn
Most of the greens were damaged by a fertilizer application in July when apparently not enough water was used to prevent the burns. I really like the course and look forward to when the repairs are completed.
Terrible..
Looks like they are letting this course go again. Greens are half dead and dirt, its like putting on the fairway. Also there was no water for golfers anywhere on the course.
A nice getaway
This course is worth the drive. The course was in good condition - the grounds crew are working hard to fix a few bad spots. THe greens were AWESOME. They held approach shots and rolled true. Layout was challenging and used every club in your bag. It's a shot makers course for sure!
This course was in very poor condition. Fairway I s like a cow pasture. Greens terrible you needed a je ed p to drive over the rough due mostly to gopher holes. Would not golf this course again. !!!!!
Great layout poor condition
Could be a very fun course but the conditions were not good in many areas: Some of the tee boxes weren't mowed. Green speed varied greatly, slow overall. Some greens had receded patches of dead grass. Bunkers were soft but full of small rocks mixed with the sand. Fairways were long in places and hard to identify from the tees. The pro shop smelled really bad like there was a plumbing leak. On the positive side the people were nice and the course layout is challenging and beautiful. The wild turkeys were a fun addition.
Needs attention
I drove over from San Diego(longer drive than GPS said) to check out Warner Springs. Beautiful day and was really looking forward to playing the course. Well...it was not as good as I had hoped. Mark in the pro shop was great and welcomed us well and told us about the course. He mentioned they needed a new 50K mower(owner holding up funds?) so the rough was going to be difficult and the greens had been aerated lately. Result was if you hit the ball into the rough, you were probably going to lose your ball or get some terrible lies. Very thick. Greens were marginal and it was pretty obvious they are lacking funds and staff to keep the course looking sharp. Cart paths are shaky as well. It is a great layout though and some excellent design to the holes. But the course is poorly maintained, bunkers terrible, etc,. They can't get much play as the springs are closed and they are renovating the hotel.... so I am sure ownership is losing money hand over fist. Hope it improves but until then I will not go back...
Wilderness Nirvana
I have played Warner Springs five times since May 2016. I must say that the serious golfer will appreciate the pristine golf experience that awaits! Adjacent to the Pacific Crest Trail, golfers will encounter plenty of wild turkeys, woodpeckers, and hawks. The greens are immaculate, roll true, and provide a fair test, not punitive and gimmicky like many courses. Warner Springs demands that your driver is accurate. The rough is PENAL! Be aggressively straight with your driver AND putter and your handicap will thank you! The restaurant is a local favorite and makes for a perfect pre or post round respite!
Worth the Drive
A beautiful drive rewarded by a very nice playing experience. Can't wait for the resort to reopen, would be a perfect stay and play venue.Considering they just reopened the course in November, its in good shape. Fairways and greens are good (4/5), tee boxes need some work ( 3/5). Practice putting green very nice, chipping green coming along, driving range good. Staff, Mark, took time to show us around and was very friendly and informative.Winter damage to trees in process of being cleaned up, roughs are just that, so keep it on the short grass. Wild turkeys and mountain views are a bonus. Will definitely do it again.
Nice Course
First time golfing at this course. Would come back. A few things they could do is mark the tee boxes more clearly with bigger rocks. Tee boxes need some work, many of them were very dry. Overall the course has a nice layout, challenging holes and beautiful views of the mountains. The clubhouse was one of the nicest we have seen. Friendly staff. Great value for the money, would love to see it when it's all greened up.
Gorgeous setting
Wonderful drive from San Diego. Course just opened in November, but was in pretty good shape. Had a great time. Food was excellent and people were great.
Golf
Mountain course greens were slow wet but every thing else nice.
Greens are fairway
Awesome fairways and greens were fast and slow. Kept you on your game will play again.
Nice greens and fairways
Had a great time not rushed people very nice. Love to play again and would recommend to others golfers .
