The Greens were quite rough
Value!!!
This course is definitely not in the greatest shape nor is even close to being anywhere near one of the top courses in Ottawa actually it is probably one of the worst. However this place is great a fantastic value. Normal prices are a buck a hole for the entire 2016 season and have new ownership this year. This would be a great place for any new comers or families looking to play as it is very hard to lose a ball there or really for anyone not looking to pay aver $20 a round.
Rain has helped big time
This course is high and dry and it lacks sprinklers. That coupled with a very dry June made the greens, fairways and tee boxes pretty rough. The recent rains have really made a difference, but now the sand traps are pushing up tons of weeds. Regardless the price is totally right, it's close enough to the city and the pace of play is far better than at courses that have similar prices. With a few sprinklers and a little more maintenance this course could be a beauty. I will keep playing there. The bang for the buck is good, and it's incredible if you get a "hot deal"
Getting better!!!
This course was in poor condition at the beginning of the season (April). But the new management seems to be working at upgrading the course. Some greens still need work and the sand traps have to be completely redone. But overall, it is an interesting golf course aiming at becoming better over the season.
A challenging wide-open course
This course is a good length with a good variety of holes, ... there is lots of room to spray the Tee shots and the price is right. The greens are large and have been kept in pretty good condition considering the recent lack of rain. The course would be particularly good for a beginning or senior or intermediate level player and is well worth the drive from Ottawa. I will play there again when next visiting the area.
Could be great
First year under new ownership and coupled with the horrible lack of rain the conditions were not great. However the setting and layout show great promise. Back nine is very fun, and on the areas nearer the clubhouse there are fantastic views of the Gatineau hills. The staff are very nice and there is a well stocked pro shop/liquidation shop with great prices. If they put the work in this course could be a gem. As it is there are rough greens and the sand hasn't been tended in a while but for 1$ a hole these are small complaints.
Good cheap golf to get your swing on
Great price but this course is still very dry and need work.
Bunkers are non existent
A definite need to do some fogging for bugs to reduce horse flies
Green are dry and hard
But tee boxes are great and soft
New owners are slowly bringing this course back to life
I'll go back anytime as it's cheap and a single person. Can run it in about 3 hours or less
New ownership
The course is recently took over by Champions Nest. They are charging Buck a hole try to get the customers back. New pro shop, all kind of deals. $9 for 9 holes, cheaper than practice at the driving range. I would play this course for sure. No problem with the staff.
Poor management
The greens are dry and rough. The carts are all in rough shape and dont run very well. The new manager is very agresive. The price is getting higher but the course is in very rough shape. For the price you pay to play there they should take the sprinklers off of the greens so you can play the holes. My 5 sons and i have golfed here many times we also brought friends with us but now because of the new manager we will no longer go to this place.
GRASS ON FAIRWAY & GREEN WERE DRIED OUT, NEED SERIOUS WORK ON THEM
GRASS ON FAIR WAY & GREEN WERE DRIED OUT, NEED SERIOUS WORK ON THEM
course was in bad condition, greens needed much more attention they were almost unplayable
I won't go back and play this course until I am satisfied that the greens will be in a playable state.
Unwelcoming owner.
We went to this course on the red hot deal and the owner told us that he was doing us a favour by honoring our tee time and that he would not let us play again if we came back for the same price.
The course was very dry because of the drought and the pace of play was fast as there was no one to be seen either ahead or behind us.
Needless to say we were not comfortable enough to go back to this course.
